Learner’s attributes
The learners in the case study are the are child and the adolescent and the attributes of
such individuals will be highlighted using the three basic ways.
Self- The child and the adolescent will be the potential individual s that will be seeing the
video. the attribute of self-highlight a thinking aspect or a cognitive concept of one self and it is
also related with one’s own self-image. Within the field of psychology, self-concept can be
referred as the knowledge of the individuals and what they think of themselves (Suls 2014). It is
important to mention that the aspect of self-perception does not remain constant and it will
change depending on a situation and from one phase of life to another. From the case study it can
be highlighted the character "Steve Rogers" even though very skinny wants to become a part of
the army. He is physically not up to the mark but Steve has cognitive skills which makes him
stand apart of the other individual during the training process. Even though the other trainees
were mocking at Steve, Steve had a different type of self- image and this set him apart of the
others (youtube.com 2019).
Intelligence- The concept of intelligence has highlighted that, intelligence is an individual
agent that interacts with its environments or environment. Intelligence is related with the ability
of an individual to succeed with respect to some objective or goal. The character in the case
study showed an intelligent act when trainer asked him as well as other trainees to being down a
flag from the top of the pole. Each and every one of the trainees except Steve tried to climb to
pole to grab the flag. But the Steve on the other hand just unscrewed the bottom the pole, the
pole fell down and Steve grabbed the flag to handed over to the trainer. Steve was also rewarded
for his action in the later part. It is important to mention that the theorist Sternberg has proposed

a theory called Triarchic theory and he highlighted that intelligence is not just a reacting to the
environment but also actively forming it. Intelligence can be called as an ability of person to
think, learn and experience as well as adapt to the environment (Chooi, Long and Thompson
2014).
Development- The cognitive development of the child is described by different theorists
in a different way. It is important to mention Piaget considers a child as an organism that is
adapting to its environment as well as understanding the surrounding area of world. Vygotsky
considers children as a participant of the interactive process and which is culturally and socially
determined knowledge and acknowledging that it will become individualised. Bruner on the
other hand focuses on the social aspects of the child development. Eisenberg also has a moral
development theory that highlights the prosocial moral reasoning. This theory highlights the
child's reasoning when the child faces conflict between other's needs and their needs (Malti and
Ongley 2014). It can also be highlighted that the character Steve Rogers showed an exemplary
action when the one of the trainers threw a bomb during a training process. Each and every one
of the trainees ran away and took cover while Steve jumped over the grenade to save other.
Therefore, it can be said that the Steve showed an example with high mortality.
Impact of the learning context on the learner
The case study selected provided an ample amount of context for the moral development,
intelligence and self- development or self- perception. It is important to mention that the case
study has included a character Steve Rogers. To highlight the character, it is important to
mention that the Steve Rogers wants to join the Army but he is very skinny and is being mocked
by others due to physical appearance. During the training process it has been seen that Steve is
unable to perform the training in a proper way and is often a gets mocked by the trainers and the

fellow trainees. Although, Steve is a physically incompetent than the other trainees, but he is
actually way ahead of the other in term of intelligence and morality. This particular case study
can act as an inspiration for the children and the adolescents. The important part is that Steve
here presents an all- round character that can help in teaching the adolescents and the child.
Intelligence is according to the Sternberg’s theory focuses on the three major aspects like the
ability of working together so that an intelligent behaviour can be created. The Triarchic theory
suggest three main aspects like practical, creative and analytical. The analytical aspects
emphasize on the ability of child or an adolescent to analyse, evaluate and compare. The creative
section highlights adaptation in the unique situations, synthesis and insights (Ekinci, B., 2014).
While the practical aspects include dealing with the everyday tasks and relating the same to the
world. The case study presents ample scope where the child and adolescent s can have specific
aspects of intelligence that they can learn from the cases study. Self is also an important aspect
when it comes to the personal image or self- image. The self- image can be considered as a
system of opinions, attitudes and beliefs. Therefore, it is important to mention that it is not about
what other think but a person, it is all about what a person think of himself. This is called self-
image and is also helps in the positive development of an individual. While human development
also includes morality and how individual are morally correct. Here, in this scenario an
individual has to considers about how he will be considering the needs of others with respect to
his or her own needs (Turner et al. 2017).
How learning occurs
There are various learning theories that can be helpful in influencing and understanding
the what the learner are actually thinking. This particular perspective of thinking focuses on the
knowledge that comes out of the experiences. The constructivist model depend on how the

learner constructs the work independently and the in comparison to constructing knowledge out
of the experiences. It is important to mention that the social constructivism and the psychological
constructivism are also related to the constructivism theories. Psychological constructivism can
be described as type of constructivism where a learner learns by organizing mentally and
reorganizing the new experiences and older experiences (Henson 2015). The organization takes
place by relating the prior knowledge with the new experiences that are already meaningful and
are well understood as well. A particular example of psychological constructivism is the
cognitive theory of Jean Piaget and it is an interplay between the accommodation and
assimilation. The social constructivist theory highlights interactions between the learner and the
individuals that are experienced and knowledgeable. For the individuals that rely more on the
social constructivist way of learning highlights individuals highly rely on themselves for making
learning possible. The particular individual must not only have the skills and the knowledge but
also the necessary experiences that are important when it comes to gaining knowledge and
making themselves skill full (McPhail 2016).

From the above study it can be highlighted that the I have learned a lot of aspects both
from case study and from the course study. It is important to mention that case study presented a
wide range of issues that can be actually described for expressing the three major attributes of
learning like self, development and intelligence. The impact on the learner due to the learning is
also accessed and it provides a context where the self- perception is considered important.
