Management is every business organization is quite challenging, food service provider
not only face challenges, but they need to analyse best practice that allow them to manage people
and workplace effectively. Hospitality industry focus on management process when it comes to
productivity and procurement, every business related to hospitality need fuel of strategic
management, with review measurement techniques food service provider can improve their
strategic process and position (Schermerhorn Jr, Bachrach and Wright, 2020). This study is
based on Jurys Inn, this hotel company operate across the UK and provide accommodation and
food service to their guest. Jurys Inn have most powerful management practice that allow them
to manage their food service process effectively. This report will discuss management practice
using range of performance review techniques. Later this report will discuss management
alternatives to improve performance. Later this report will discuss management solution with
range of management tools. At last, this report will provide recommendation top resolve
organizational challenges.

Management practice allow organization to not only allow them to manage their
operation but this help them to maintain stability in the business organization. Some hospitality
business like food service focus on these practice making their work more productive, focusing
on employee play vital role when it comes to restaurant management because staff is key pillar
that support powerful management (Armstrong, 2020). Jurys Inn practice management in their
every day process allowing them to become more successful in this industry, this food service
provider focus on Human Resource Management as key practice that focus on employee and
their way of working. These are,
Human resource management:
Human resource management simply means management of employee and their
productivity, but this process is quite challenging which impact performance of the business.
Jurys Inn adopt HRM as key management practice that help them to sharpen skills and ability of
their employee and allow them to maintain continuous flow. This hotel chain manage their food
service operation with the help of HRM practice, Jurys Inn know that staff and their productivity

professionally in the food service area, Jurys Inn have fine dining concept which need
professional staff to make their guest feel luxurious. HRM have certain key area that allow Jurys
Inn to become more stable and powerful in the market, these are:
Talent management: apart from hiring, management of talent is quite important. Talent only
can be managed if company have certain policy that support requirement of employee, Jurys Inn
craft certain policy that support requirement of employee that maintain effectiveness in the
workplace. It is very clear that when business focus on employee that means they will craft these
policies and make organization structure suitable for them.
Motivation to less active staff: effective management only can be completed if employees are
motivated, this practice allow company not only to motivate their employee but this help them to
boost their retention as well. Jurys Inn motivate their staff to perform more effectively, this
business provide certain benefit to staff member to boost their motivation for exmaple; Jurys Inn
provide financial benefit to employee allow them to lift up motivation, this business provide

business to collected performance details of employee, this process simply means gathering of
performance details of employee from their subordinate (Fleenor, Taylor and Chappelow, 2020).
Jurys Inn need to perform 360-degree feedback more often which will help them to manage their
staff and their performance. In food service operation, Jurys Inn need to focus on
multidimensional performance appraisal method. Sometimes feedback provide those information

Performance of business organization completely depend on performance of employee
that means if employee have ability to provide effective work to business then they will achieve
success, sometimes management practice become barrier in the process of appraising
performance of employee because these practice does not fit with work process of employee.
There are certain ways to improve performance of business with the help of performance of
employee, these are:
Reward efforts: efforts of employee decide growth of business, it is very clear that without
efforts of employee business cannot process further. Jurys Inn need to provide financial reward
to staff according to their performance, this food service provider already practice this method of
increasing employee retention but there are other ways to reward an employee for example
certification of excellence (Hoole and Hotz, 2016). It is recommended for food service
organization to reward their staff according to their performance in peak season time. Sometimes
guest themselves reward work of staff.
Commitment: commitment is very important between business and staff, this is bridge that
support and connect. Every business organization remain committed to their words which means
they provide salary and wages on time, but when business deny fulfilling commitment then their
performance is decreased. It is recommended for Jurys Inn to provide and to fulfil those promise
made with staff, in ethical way, this food service organization can improve performance of
employee impacting growth and success of Jurys Inn.
Team building: team work collaboratively to achieve organizational goals and objective,
sometimes business simply adopt team building as management practice to become competitive
in the market, when food service organization focus on getting competitive advantage then they
build powerful team that can meet demand of guest, this team not only work together, but they
manage some conflict by their own. It is recommended for Jurys Inn to build that team which can
meet demand of guest as well as hotel. Building an powerful team is one of the best management
practice that help business to solve certain conflict and staff from diverse culture can help
business to build strong team.
Training and development: training and development is crucial part in every business
organization, employee who have talent also need training and development process which can
help them to sharpen their skills and ability. It is recommended for Jurys Inn to provide training

the business. Almost every food service organization face shortcoming in their process this is
related to USP they have, unique selling proposition of restaurant decide whether they will
survive in highly competitive market or not (Homann and et.al., 2021). Conflict in the workplace
become major issue for food service organization, business need to look for management
solution that can help them to overcome these issue. There are certain management tools that
allow business to management their workplace, these are:
Strategic planning: strategic management is most powerful management tool that allow
business to craft those effective strategy that drive success in the workplace, it is very clear that
every business organization need fuel of strategies that can push their success and mainly help in
solving shortcoming that arise in the workplace (Bryson, 2018). Jurys face certain shortcoming
in their process for example this food service provider face shortcoming in food safety.
Government of UK is not planning to cut food licence to manage food safety in the country this
means Jurys Inn might face issue. To overcome this shortcoming, Jurys Inn have to provide
strategic planning.
Performance review techniques:
Management by objectives: MBO is very effective performance management and review tool
that allow business to set certain objectives that bring easiness in the workplace, sometimes lack
of objectives impact employee's performance resulting in failure of the business process. Jurys
Inn need to set certain objectives that manage shortcoming in the business process, for exmaple
if Jurys Inn set certain objectives for certain staff then they can manage that task and
performance of employee as well. This tool can be used in performance review process because
if Jurys Inn monitor performance of employee by their objectives then they can be ever clear.
