To investigate the impact of company policy pertaining to equality and diversity in order
to improve day to day activities of workers.
Background
In recent time, it is quite difficult for management within any industry or sector to
manage performance and day to day actions of their diverse workforce (Pollitt, 2018). Increasing
needs and demands of labour market affect management practices and styles effectively.
Equality and diversity is the main concern of people, it is one of the key factors that put positive
impact on business growth and success when firm follow policies related to these. Both these
components mean a lot of things, it is all about respecting applicants for their individual age,
race, career experience, gender, beliefs, skills, sexual orientation, cultural background and more.
The current study is based on Marriott hotel, which falls under category of leading hotels in UK.
This assignment will discuss different forms of research methods that will use by researcher to
gather a lot of data about above chosen topic.
Aim and objectives
The aims of this report is to identify the influence of business policy pertaining to
equality and diversity in order to improve daily activities of workers. A study based upon
Marriott hotel.

The main reason for choosing this topic is that, to identify what policies Marriott hotel
develop for workers, that improve their performances and activities on daily basis. Research
wants to determine the impact of policies on staff activities which may be affect positively. The
another reason for conducting research on the basis of chosen topic is that, it gives a lot of
knowledge about varied methods can be use pertaining to equality and diversity in order to
increase productivity and performance of working people. By doing this research, individual gets
to know about many new approaches, due to which the employees get a lot of benefit.
Project management plan that covers important elements
Project management plan aids in evaluating and ascertaining varied aspects related to
management of project and manage all key activities accordingly in systematic manner (Silv and
et.al., 2018).

Meaning of equality and diversity concept-
According to Chang and Teng, (2017) hospitality industry are focusing on enhancing the
performance as well as motivational level of workers in effective manner, by focusing on
equality and diversity concepts or policies. Equality at workplace play vital role, it means the
level of being equal. It is one of the ideals a democratic society, and so fight to attain varied
types of equality like gender equality, racial, or equality of chances between existing and new
workers, it is often associated with growth towards that ideal of everyone being really equal.
While diversity refer to existence of variations of different features in team of people.
Varied policies used by firm to maintain equality & diversity in work areas-
Bai, Kusi-Sarpong and Sarkis, (2017) highlights that organizations operating under
hospitality industry are developing and using a range of methods or policies in order to maintain
both key components that is equality and diversity. Employees involvement in decision-making
process is one its effective policy that play important role in improvement of workers activities at
workplace.
Madera, Dawson and Neal, (2017) stated that by creating inclusive workplace policy,
company can maintain diverse workforce at work areas and it can help in maintaining equality

in favour of first option, they have appropriate comprehending about concept of equality &
diversity. They understand its importance and benefits at workplace. On the other hand, out of
selected respondents, only 2 people are in favour of second option. They do not have any
understanding about above statement.

respondents out of 30 selected by researcher are in favour of first choice. They think that by
developing effective policies pertaining to equality and diversity, organization enhance workers
daily activities at workplace. People have their own point of view regarding above statement, out
of 30, 4 individuals think that by planning training and development sessions, management
improve staff performance in effective manner. At last only 6 respondents are in favour of last
option, they think that company are doing both things for purpose of increasing activities of
employees.
