Social Media Experience: Positive Impacts to the Society
Social media trend is a force to reckon with in the twenty first century. it is reported that
about two thirds of the population of the USA uses different social media platforms such as Face
Book, WhatsApp, Twitter, Snap chat, YouTube Channels, and so on and so forth. The question
of whether theses platforms are used by individuals for their own good interest has been on many
people’s lips for a long time now. This paper seeks to analyze the ways in which the interaction
of individuals on these social media platforms has made positive impacts on the society. Social
media is more than the comments, the follows and the likes. I has provided jobs for young
people, has propagated education and cultural exchange .therefore, it is very inherent that we
take up the mantle and come together to ensure that the society benefits from the goodness that
comes with these platforms .
With the digitalization of every aspect of our business engagements, most entrepreneurs
own websites. These websites provide a stage in which a potential client can learn more about
the services offered by the company. The clients do not have to do a physical visit because the
contacts are always provided in the website. These websites also require content creators
administrator who ensures that there is relevant information on the site as well as the website
runs smoothly. Ten years back, no one knew that people would be writing and getting paid for it,
however, with sites like Word Press, people can now earn a living from content creation. Other
platforms such as twitter and face book are also being used to market business for different
companies. For instance, companies have official pages where they advertise their latest goods.
They also use these mediums to get feedback from their client which is very useful for them.
There are also companies that have take it to a new level by opening YouTube Channels and use

them as open forums to train their subscribers on different entities as they get clients for their
goods as well.
Apart from the entrepreneurial benefits incurred, social media platforms are also used as
a learning tool. There are many learning channels that one can subscribe to. For instance YALI
has various online courses that one can enroll for and in the end is awarded a certificate. Gone
are the days when you had to sit through a class to learn on how to play guitar, learn French or
Spanish, etc. World best Javelin Thrower Juius Yego (Parker NP) learnt the skill using YouTube
cannels. According to business insider, YouTube has over 1.8 billion users. This shows that
people are embracing self development at their own convenience. There have also been various
stories of lost persons found after numerous shares on social media. They were reunited back
with families and this is a very commendable thing. A 39 year old Farhiya was reunited with his
dad after decades of separation due to the Somalia War. Her Face Book plea on 16th March 2016,
that was posted by Deeq M. Afrika, connected her to her siblings who lived in Oslo making her
childhood dream of meeting her father come to pass( Finnerty NP). This is just one of such
happy ending stories that are brought about by social media platforms.
Beyond the sharing of pictures uploaded on different social accounts, it is reported that
three billion users of different platforms can now access news instantly. You do not have to sit
down watch news from your television set; you can actually stream live from your android
phone. Research for students has also been made easier because even libraries have switched
from the analog search of books to digital eBooks’. One can purchase a book via Amazon and
use Kindle to read.

into a global village. The society benefits a lot from this blessing of technology. The creation of
job opportunities, being informed more frequently, learning and creation of social ties and so on
and so forth. These are true stories that have not been marred with any sort exaggeration. If
social media is used in the right way, it can benefit the users and the society at large more than it
