Tourism is one of those concepts that drive the attention of individuals toward conducting
multiple activities such as travel other locations, where they obtain appropriate satisfaction in term
of taking pleasure of food, accommodation and other types of activities. Tourism industry is one of
the most progressive and successful industries in the world, as it provide satisfactory products and
services to customers, by considering their needs and expectations. This sector is known for quality
service satisfactory items, that people tend to purchase and utilize according the requirement that in
turn allow them to obtain and achieve aims. The current assignment will explain development of
contemporary tourism, and factors that impact the same concept. It will define negative and positive
impact economic impact of tourism. Furthermore, the report will also justify positive and negative
environmental impact of tourism along with socio-cultural affect of similar term.
Development of contemporary tourism and significant factors-
The term modern tourism may evolve because of current market trend, as earlier people
prefer to visit nearby location across their home town by using own vehicles as they do not go far
away from home. However, in the recent time, individual person prefer to explore the world as they
may take approach to plan holidays or vacations with friends as it is now in trend. They may take
action to visit abroad where different types of attractive elements may enhance their entertainment
level. It can be said that contemporary tourism recently is one of the most essential source that
governmental bodies consider and take pleasure of similar thing in term of generating GPD. There
are varied forms of factors exist in the world that affect tourism growth in positive manner and
consider as significant forces.
Technology advancement-
This significant factor put positive impact on tourism success in term of increasing sector
productivity. As individual person in this world prefer to use advanced technologies, for purpose of
reservation and finding information about varied things such as hotels, motels, accommodation
facilities, etc. It may enable them to take right decision, that is essential for them to take before
conducting any activity. It may lead to increase customer base, revenue and growth of tourism
industry.
Customers trends-
Another factor that put direct impact on tourism activities is current one. It may allow
customers to visit and plan for varied destinations where they may go and explore several things. It
is in trend that individuals may develop plan to celebrate some festivals outside national boundaries

where everything is exist according to their requirement and needs. It may help to grow and succeed
in the world of tourism that is essential.
Factors-
There are both positive and negative impacts of tourism on the economy of the country. In
positive impact, it can consider foreign exchange earnings & contribution to government revenues
which will act as a multiplier for the economy. In foreign exchange earnings the locals will earn
foreign exchange as the tourist visits the place and purchase some things from the vendors. This
money will then help the country to improve their tourism sector. The country can get various
currencies either weak or strong which will be a benefit as it helps in maintaining the security while
issuing currencies. Contribution to government revenues is done through either taxes which are paid
by the tourism employment or departure taxes. The indirect contribution can be considered the
services or goods which are provided to the tourist or tourism industry. Government earned through
the translations which are done by the tourist during the time of their visits this is beneficial for
government as citizens can generate high income (Pratama, and Mandaasari, 2020). In negative
impact, it can consider leakage & increase in prices which will act as a leakage for the economy.
Economic leakage happens when the money is used for trading with the other countries. This can be
done through the organization which are multinational. Here when the companies pay taxes in other
countries or purchase goods can be treated as outflow from the economy. These companies are the
main source of leakage in any country. It increases the prices of the commodity as the country
which invite tourism the things are expensive which also impact the locals. By inviting tourism the
demand for certain products increases majorly. The examples for increase in prices can be of real
estate, beverages and various others. This negatively impact the locals who do not earn much
compared to the tourists (Brauer, Dymitrow, and Tribe, 2019).
There are both positive and negative impacts of tourism on the environment of the country.
In positive impact, it can consider the developing national parks & maintenance of forests. The
country which invites tourists tend to build national parks which are good for the environment. As
there will be trees and various other things which are related to nature. This helps the environment
of the country as the government will take care of those places which will improve the quality of air
and water. The country which invite tourist maintains the natural resources such as forest at the best.
This method will help the wildlife of the country as well as nature which will be beneficial for the
country. This will reduce the pollution in the country which improve the health of the people who
resides there. The maintenance of forest will be good for the country as it will develop the wildlife
of those forests (Wang, and Wang, 2018). In negative impact, it can consider depletion of natural
resources & Causes pollution. Depletion of natural resources is the biggest disadvantage of the
tourism industry. As it causes depletion in the various sources which are essential for living for

example water. It is because tourist tend to misuse the water of the places tourists visit. It is not only
on water, but they tend to overuse every resource available to them. This depletes the resources of a
country. They cause pollution by throwing rubbish on the road or water which is not good for the
nature or animals. They also use vehicles which causes air pollution. As the beaches are
transforming into destinations it is destroying the habitats of those beaches. As for them the
construction of various building is done or accommodates which is a disadvantage for the country
as it creates pollution (Bas, and Sivaprasad, 2021).
There are both positive and negative impacts of tourism on the socio-cultural of the country.
In positive impact, it can consider boost culture development & Strengthen communities. It boosts
culture development as when a tourist visit a new country tourist want to know more about their
culture. For example, tourists learn about their festivals, dress, cuisines and various others. While
they learn more about the culture they are making a connection with the other culture, and they
would like to visit those place again in the future. By this they will learn to respect other countries
culture. They strengthen the communities in various types. As they conduct various events and
festivals which include the local citizens. Tourists can also learn how every community work and
can adjust with them on various levels. This helps those cultures to connect with each other and
improve understanding. This improves the connection with each other which is beneficial for both
the communities (Séraphin, and et.al., 2018). In negative impact, it can consider depletion of crime
generation & commodification. Commodification states that the tourist treat the local cultures as
commodities when they are sold by the guide. Tourists learn about the culture in a modified way
which is not considered good for the other communities. They influence various changes in the
tourist places when they visit. Tourist does not treat the local heritage in a way they should respect.
During commodification, they lose the authenticity of the culture as they mix both the culture.
Tourist also give rise to the crime when the tourist have a lot of money they carry jewellery or any
valuable items. This gives a chance to other to steal those things for their own profit. They also
introduce drug in other countries which is not good for the health or right for cultural diversification
(Jimura, 2018).
CONCLUSION
It is concluded from this essay that there are various positive and negative impact of tourism
on environment, economy & socio-cultural factors. The negative impact consists that it will reduce
the flow of money in the economy, depletes the resources of countries and affect the culture of the
economy. Whereas in the positive they generate jobs, incomes of the people, boost culture, increase
national park and various others. It is recommended that the government should take steps for the
benefit of the environment as well as economy. Also, the security of tourist place should be more
for reducing the crimes in those places. Furthermore, on the basis of above discussion, it has been

concluded that emerging trends that customers follow has contributed to grow contemporary
tourism in effective manner. It has provided management chance to reach desire outcomes and
achieve set goals, whether it is small, large, or medium. It has been determined that each factor
consideration enabled tourism industry to grow rapidly.
