In the recent era, it is essential to understand the social world because it assists
to understand the ourselves better and also determine how social world influence the
way individual thinks, feel and act. However, there are number of reason where people
allow social influence to affect their thoughts and behaviour, that is why, study on this
understand others effectively. Additionally, group conformity also enables a sense of
unity within a society. The present study also shed a light upon different ways through
which social science assist to understand the social world. For that, two different topics
will be chosen where the report will help to determine how a good understanding in
social class assist to understand own lives and others in more better way. Along with
this, another topic is related to crime and with the help of concept and theories, this also
assists to support the answer.
Social science as a way of expressive about the communal world
Yes, social science is a way that assists to understand or know about social
world because it indirectly creates a better system which affect each and everybody’s
lives. Also, it can be stated that it assists to know how to cooperate with social world
and how to impact policy and endorse equality as well. Apart from this Punch et al.
(2013) also investigated in their study that social science examines a relationship
between individual and society rather than study in physical world. That is why, it assists
to understand how man can fulfil their needs. Also, in a country, different societies are
developed and through social science, an individual is able to know how to treat and live
in multicultural society so that they gain from them and also apply the same in their life
as well. In addition to this, this is only providing an improved evidence based foundation
for assessing the social as well as party-political world. Thus, it can be stated that social
science helps a person to understand how to engage with such systems so that it will
benefitted to their own as well as society.
Additionally, it has been reflected that social science also assists to let people
understand about democracy, freedom and rights so that they can easily live in society.
This in turn aid to make them more responsible and understand other’s culture so that
effective outcome can be generated (Macionis and Plummer, 2008). Along with this, it

can be stated that this in turn aid to improve the thinking and knowledge so that best
outcome can be generated.
Social class
Social class people have a sense to access the services and increases
satisfaction and such type of values has affected the perception of people so that
effective results can be gained. Even sociologist also stated that social class resolute by
teaching, revenue and profession levels that further impact upon relations and shape
lives. For example, higher class people are more likely to prefer prestigious schools so
that their children receive higher education and lower social class people do opposite
(Haralambos, 2008). This in turn reflected that upper class individual to likely to attend
high class facilities as compared to lower class people. Therefore, it is also supported
by Karl Marx where an individual’s position within a class hierarchy is identify by their
role. Author also argued that political and ideological consciousness is also determine
by their class position.
Thus, it can be stated that social class provide their members with some
distinctive sub-culture which in turn help to prepare them for a specialised function
within a society. Thus, it is stated that social class is valuable as a well-organized
means of role distribution in a society and it also fixes social responsibility where an
individual learns how to behave publically. Giddens and Sutton (2009) critically argued
that it somehow hinder the social adjustment and also make it quite difficult for an
individual so that they make a finest use of possible aptitudes. Moreover, the shaping
life-adjustment pattern also help the people to handle life situation that is varies with
social class. For example, lower class inclines to be more fundamental in radical action
which is linked with financial aids, but this class is more conservative in order to accept
the social change whereas upper class do not (Fulcher and Scott, 2011). Thus, it
reflected that there is a need to understand the difference between groups so that
people can understand about the sub culture and as a result, they behave in a different
manner. For example, in Australia, Black people are mostly not accepted by many
social class people especially to White people and this in turn reflected that people are
still discriminated and thus affected their behaviour towards others.

Crime
Increase in crime rates always affect the people’s thinking because it leads to
affect their mental health where far, anger, helplessness arises. So, it can be stated that
crime lead to social injustice which is based on the discrimination that is prevalent in a
society (Ferris and Stein, 2018). However, if the criminal is belonging to higher class in
a society, then the individual definitely uses the power to get released. This is
completely unethical and this also increases the number of crimes within a society.
Further, this is supported by Sociological Positivism theory which is determined by a
study of social erections within an offender’s setting like family, peer groups. Apart from
this, there are so many other factors that also lead towards crime and other people have
to understand about the rationale for conducting such crime (Cohen and Kennedy,
2013). In addition to this, crime is considered as a problem for a society and crime does
not only affect economic productivity but cause negative impact over society as well.
Ultimately, understanding a criminal’s mind in recognized as a best way to
reduce crime and understanding thinking will help to stop it happening for next time.
With the help of theory, society is able to determine the rationale for commit crime and
apply the same in their own life (Browne, 2011). This in turn somehow decrease the
number of crimes so that society can live their life easily. For example, Homicide where
police recorded 627 homicide offence in 2021, though it is 11% decreases from
previous year. This shows that people understand the rationale behind committing such
crime so that the number decreases year by year. Also, it can be reflected that some
crimes are related to biological positivism where some physiological factors are
contributed. That is why, there is a need to decrease the rate of the crime so that it do
not cause negative impact over the society and people.
CONCLUSION
By summing up above report, it has been concluded that social science plays an
important role in order to gain knowledge and understand the way to interact with each
other. Thus, it assists to develop a feeling of universal brotherhood. Also, it has been
concluded that with the social class refers to different class live in society and there are
different factors that also affect the thinking and lives of people. Also, with the help of

Karl Marx theory it has been also evaluated that social class change the thinking of
people and make them aware about new life adjustment patterns. Apart from this, it can
be stated that there are many theories supported to crime which included Sociological
positivism where people need to understand the rationale for committing crime and think
rationally so that the number might be reduced.
