In the workplace, various ethical issues make employees to develop a dilemma. This
article outlines some of the ethical workplace issues, how they are likely to impact performance,
and how they can be solved without causing other problems such as losing jobs, demotion or
salary decrease.
According to this article, although employees tend to spend much of their time
accomplishing their tasks, they are sometimes tempted to undertake personal activities on
company time. This comprise of setting up medical appointments on company telephone lines,
booking vacation reservations using company computers and internet, or sometimes making
phone calls for freelance side businesses during work time (Rafner, 2018). From an ethical point
of view, this behavior is not good because it makes organizations to suffer in terms of wasted
time and misuse of resources.
The article also outlines harassing behavior as one of the ethical issues that arise in
workplaces. It states that at times, employees fail to know what to do when they face physical,
sexual or mental abuse in workplace (Rafner, 2018). The author provides an insight of what
constitutes harassments and how the staff members should solve this issues when it arises.
