Assessment 2a: Report
Introduction
The rise of competitiveness in education has brought about the various changes in
practices carried out by institutions. Various institutions around the world are carrying out
activities and adopting strategies using which the latter are able to attract customers that is
potential students their way (Pucciarelli and Kaplan 2016). While there are various ways of
marketing that can help in boosting the effectiveness of the institutions in attracting the said
students. Marketing of the institution is the approach to be used by the company in order to
effectively develop a competency in attracting customers (Kotler et al. 2015). However, it
can be opined that it comes down to the proceedings that are carried out within the
organisation that determines the nature of behaviour of the customers that is the students in
accordance with the nature of response of the consumer or the students. The nature of
outcomes that are carried are influenced by the attainment of the institution in accordance
with the actual course or through fulfilment of the hygiene needs of the students. The paper
critically evaluates the scope of operations of Angelia Ruskin Universities future outlook
towards the development of the campus and recommendations will be based regarding
measures that can be taken to improve the module.
Discussion
Environmental Sustainability
There are instances in businesses that are known as procurement and it is a phase that
is characterised by setting up of the facility that will play a role in the business (Massis et al.
2015). Regardless of the nature of operations of a company, the need for procurement is
inevitable. Procurement is responsible for the fixed costs that are associated to a business
(Flammer 2018). Thus, the facility that has been procured is the an investments that is

irreversible in nature and thus, one needs to ensure that they are able to identify the aspects
that must be considered and incorporated into operations so that they are able to gain
effectiveness in terms of the favourable nature of operations. The facility that has been
procured must not possess the features that degrade the quality of the environment and the
biotic components. In accordance with current practices, there are institutions and
organisation that is damaging and causing hindrances to the quality of the environment
(Garbach et al. 2014). Industrial by-products are released into the environment and they can
pollute the nature and its components. Similar nature of practices is carried out when
institutions are being procured. There are various activities carried out during the process of
procurement in that have disastrous for the environment. As a result of the disastrous
consequences that are being suffered by the environment as a result of the practices, it has
been identified that there is a need associated with the development of practices that help in
aligning perfectly with the needs of the environment. It can be said that the practices that are
to be carried out and implemented in organisation should be aligned to sustainability needs of
the environment. Sustainable development refers to carrying out practices in a manner that
the environment and the diverse components associated to the environment.
Understanding environmental issues
There is importance in realisation of issues in accordance to which the environmental
issues should be dealt with. There are various activities that can degrade the quality of the
environment and hence, it is important to note that organisations and institutions aims to
identify the aspects that can degrade the quality of the environment (Li et al. 2017). Before
implementation of any project is it is important to assess the nature of outcomes related to the
development of the factors that contribute to the success of the project that is being
developed. It should be one of the primary goals to assess the impacts that a project might
have on the abiotic components.

Product Life cycle
Regardless of the nature of the product, one must be sure that there is a by-product of
the said product (Ciambrone 2018). Hence, there is a point in the lifecycle of the product that
it can no longer be used. Thus, there are various resources employed in construction and
procurement that contribute to the environmental wastes. By products of items such as coal,
wooden frames, metal frames, wires and various other supportive tools that are used to
realises the issue associated to the business. The resources that cannot be used by the business
are either dumped or sent to landfills or dumping ground were the waste accumulates with
other wastes and increase the waste related liabilities on the face of the earth (Brancoli,
Rousta and Bolton 2017). Thus, a sustainable mindset can help in the development of the
activities aligned toward the development of the needs of the organisation.
The general nature of activities that are implemented into the development of a
product portfolio is such that it starts with the extraction of raw materials, designing the
products, dispatching the products, maintenance of the products after which the utility
providing power of the products is exhausted. The product is finally dumped or incinerated.
Dumping wastes into landfills hinders the quality of the biotic factors around the landfill
including the organisms that reside near (Bove et al. 2015). Furthermore, the quality of the
environment can be degraded by ways other than the latter, were the waste can seep under the
ground, thus, causing issues such as arsenic poisoning. On a contradictory one might feel that
it would be a better option to cope with the wastes by incineration of the wastes. However,
the latter must be informed that incinerations of wastes that are non-biodegradable are
hazardous in nature, thus, contributing to the level of toxicity that exists in the air. Thus, it
can be suggested that one should be able to abide by the techniques and tools that help in
reinvesting the products into the system. The latter can eb achieved with the help of activities
such as recycling and reusing. Recycling of a product ensures that the latter can be reinvested

in use (Hagelüken et al. 2016). It can bring down the costs that are associated to the actual
cost of procurement. Furthermore, it helps in proving the viability of the operations carried
out in accordance with the nature of practices that should be carried out in the current
context.
Chelmsford Campus plan
It has been found that the Angelia Ruskin University aims to be capable of
accommodating more students into each of the courses that are offered by the institution. The
university has incorporated planning for the future with the help of the values they have been
able to establish. The institution aims to ensure they incorporate the following into their value
stream for the year to come (Web.anglia.ac.uk 2019);
Being ambitious: Striving for attainment of excellence in all the activities that are carried
out by the university which will benefit the students and the community, and will further
help in achievement of the institution’s goals.
Being Innovative: The institution aims to develop a competency with the help of
collective creativity. It is the belief of the institution to generate new ideas with the help
brainstorming from every stakeholder associated to the institute.
Being Courageous: The organisation has been able to identify that the environment that
they are operating in is challenging, yet they aim to obtain the highest the objectives that
can be obtained by surpassing the highest levels of difficulties. Thus, the organisations
aim to pay due attention to the external environment on the analysis of which the
company would be able to gain favourable nature of outcomes in terms of the activities
that the company would associate itself with.
Community Spirit: The organisation values the community and realises the community as
one of the most important stakeholders. It is a belief of the institution that they it is
through helping each other that the company will be able to gain effectiveness in

understanding the issues through which both the company and the community can benefit
from a mutually beneficial relationship.
Integrity: The actions that are carried out by the company are carried out in a way that is
transparent. Furthermore, the decisions that are made by the company are taken in
accordance with the interest of all the stakeholders associated to the organisation. Hence,
it can be said that the nature of outcomes of the company regarding every activity carried
out by the company are implemented in accordance with integrity and respect for all the
stakeholder groups.
Responsibility: Each and every activity carried out by the organisation are carried out by
the organisation are carried out responsibly. Due attention is paid to the economy, the
society and the environment and the diverse groups of stakeholders associated to the
company.
Conclusion and Recommendations
On a concluding note it can be said that there are various issues as a result of which
the quality of the environment is deteriorating. Practices such as procurement generate
various types of wastes that can further damage the quality of the environment. Hence, the
approaches to procurement of the Angelia Ruskin University contributes should be carried
out in accordance with the vision that has been adopted by the company. The reason behind
the procurement is to increase the number of students that the campus can accommodate.
Thus, it can be said that in accordance with the current aim of the institution, they should
ensure that they abide by the following recommendations.
Carry out Environmental Audit: An environmental audit refers to an activity that
encompasses all the factors of the environment such as activities the use of renewable and
non-renewable resources, the amount and nature of the waste generated by the activities

Use renewable resources: The use of renewable resources implies the use of sources of
energy that are obtained not from fossil fuels but from abundant sources such sunlight,
water and wind. The latter cause lesser emissions and can contribute to the aim of
environmental sustainability. The company can start off by installing solar panels as that
would help in the aim of the company to start using renewable sources of energy.
Assessment 2b: Reflection
In the past I have been a part of a multi-disciplinary team when I was working with an
NGO assisting groups assisting people with mental health issues. As there were diverse issue
being treated by the organisation, there were various personnel with different expertise who
were assembled to be able to cope with the diverse issues that the organisation might
encounter in accordance with the nature of proceeding of the NGO. I was associated to the
role of a counsellor and it was my role to use a different approach than the other experts in
the team. While most of their roles were to give input the patients or the clients, it was my
role to listen to the latter. It was my role was to identify the issues in the patient who were
suffering with their mental health and report it to the responsible personnel. I got associated
to the said role as a result of my abilities of communising effectively. Most of my colleagues
were from health care background. I have been able to realise the importance of the
collaboration of people from different backgrounds. People with different skills bring in
different abilities and skill sets. The latter is the reason behind the appreciation of activities
such as inclusion and diversity that bolster the ability of an organisation regardless of the
nature of activities that they are associated to. Hence, I have been able to learn about a great
deal regarding working in teams that are multidisciplinary. I am sure that if I encounter

similar roles in the future, I would be aiming to understand how different activities of
different personnel can collaborate for a common goals or outcome.
