General information of the article; this article focusses on a study to examine the rising incidence
of the older adults suffering from cognitive communication impairment as well as the demand
for healthcare services which improve the quality of life of target population.
Summary of the article content; the articles states that the adoption of person-centred healthcare
methods in health care enables for a better comprehension of how to involve an individual
having cognitive-communication impairment in the process of identification of communication
needs, coming up with suitable intervention methods as well as modifying various strategies the
recognized needs transform or change. The study has, therefore, characterizes the dementia
continuum and characteristics of cognitive communication at each stage and is highlighted as
guide for choosing compensatory supports of communication to fit the changing needs.

article states that the legislation in the United Kingdom requires that people enhance residual
capacity and protect vulnerable older adult’s incapable of making independent decisions. The
article assessed instruments which have been published and designed to help in the evaluation of

Significance of the article to my study; the article is vital to my study since it evaluates the
prerequisite tools that can aid in improving the decision making in individuals with dementia.
