Informational Literacy & Research: Annotated Bibliography Project

This assignment presents an annotated bibliography focusing on information literacy and its relevance to contemporary issues affecting young people. Part 1 discusses the importance of informational literacy frameworks in higher education, emphasizing collaboration, research, and the development of critical thinking skills. It highlights the role of experts in validating information and solving problems, advocating for curriculum changes to promote student engagement in research. Part 2 analyzes sources related to challenges faced by youth, such as violence, early maturity, and obesity, attributing these issues partly to technological influences and media exposure. It stresses the importance of source credibility and validity, advocating for thorough investigation and up-to-date information. Part 3 provides an annotated entry for a source discussing the extended transition to adulthood for young people, emphasizing the need to strengthen social institutions and address social differences. The author support the framework created an opportunity for the faculty, librarians and
institutional partners to reform instructions sessions, courses, assignment, and other curriculum
activities to enhance the success of the students. It opens ways for the collaboration,
scholarships, and research for the students. The activities enhance learning in the national and
international campus. The author also supports that authorities arebuilt in different communities
and experts understand authority to influence changes in the society (Oakleaf 510-511). The
experts see the need to determine the reliability and validity of the data that come from the
authority. The students will come to respect the work, which is done by the experts, and they
have open mind to encounter various challenges in life. Researchers, scholars and other
professionals involve in a sustained activities, which help in the discoveries through
interpretation of various information. The author has an understanding that experts used different
perspectives to solve problem. They do not have seek for what they are familiar with and
establishment of authority structures can influence the ability develop new methods. The
activities use evidence, modes, and methods that help learners to enhance their studies. The

conversation of the scholars lead to appropriate level of discussion, promote undergraduate
research and identify barriers to discoveries.
Similarly, the author agrees with the work of the experts in solving problems and coming
up with valid solution to challenges. Curriculum activities need changes that will promote the
learning of the students and increase their participation in research work. The informational
framework is based on interconnected concepts, implementation of flexible options,
scholarships, and researches. Experts understand ways of seeking authoritative voices and
recognize the impacts of other voices. Novice learners mostly rely on main indicators provided
by the authority including author credentials and publication type (Ross, 3). Additionally, I
would apply inquiry, which is used by experts as a process to focus on the problem that is not
solved. Experts recognize the use of the collaborative ways in a particular discipline to enhance
their knowledge. Inquiry process goes beyond the world of academic to large community and it
can focus on professional and societal needs. When one ask question in a research, it expands the
knowledge and skills. The questions give better understandings of the issues involved and make
it easy to solve the problem. Inquiry helps in improving the abilities to have refine methods and
include the diversity of the more perspective ways.
Part 2
Sources and their validity
The author focuses on the major problem young people face in daily life. The challenges
include violence while in schools, early maturity, and obesity. Technological developments
around the world have brought most of the constraints and make ithard for youths to face the
reality about the world. Visual films and media expose young people to violence. The films

create room where young children have corrupted their minds and promote violence. In social
institution for leaning, and schools, there is much violence. It is also true that consumption of
cholesterol have led to increased weight among the young people consequently leading to
obesity (Townsend, Lori, et al 23). Similarly, media has acted as a mirror among what people
see. Many people use media for the advertisement of the business though some of them are using
media to ruin the moral values of the society. Media influence most of the activities and it should
aim at enhancing the well-being of the people. Furthermore, the source of the story should be
thoroughly investigated to avoid misleading information. The author of the stories should also be
credible and available in the internet. There should be information that support the story
provided and it should be up to date. Relevant story is attributed to how current it is and the
impact it has in the life of the people. If the published information is available in the Library,
then the source can be reliable and valid. It should not be satire form and the author should have
produced his or her own work.

Annotated bibliography

Richard and Barbara argue that the time youth take to complete school, secure a job,
marry, and get children has changed. The transition period has extended and their parents have to
take care of their children for a long period. Nowadays, young people are more vulnerable as
compared to old generation because of the kind film they watch and their lifestyle. A medium
source tries to explain the differences and challenges faced by the young people in comparison to
old generation. It was published in 2010. Richard is a Human Development Professor in the

Similarly, Richard and Barbara stress on the need to strengthen social institutions and reflect on
the reality about life. Young people should understand the existence of the social differences in
the modern life and in the old generation.
