Dumped. (2004). New Scientist; London, 181(2434).
In this article, Fisher has done a critical analysis of the human brain who are suffering
from serious trauma or are affected by the recent rejection in their love life. Fisher has used
the functional MRI technique in conducting this critical analysis. Fisher has reported that
after getting rejected from love an individual suffers from fear, a sense of vacuum and the
agony of the romantic form of rejection at certain situations in their lives.
AGREE: The author used the MRI technique to analyze this particular problem. The
article reflected the present problem of stress and depression that is very prevalent among the
youth in the society. The emotional growth of the youth get hindered due to the stress factor.
The youth therefore should refrain from the extremities of love or any other form of emotion
which may affect them at this stage of their life. The critical analysis of Fisher may also help
the young generations from getting affected from these dreadful emotions which can have
long term repercussions on their life.
DISAGREE: However, the author throughout the article has emphasized on the
rejection from love as the basic cause of trauma for the youth. However, the article did not
mention about the critical analysis of the human brain due to the other causes of stress like
rejection from job, instability in career or from the other emotional turbulence factors.
Rejection from love can be just one factor of stress among the young population, however
there lies several other factors that cause a sense of vacuum among the youth.

Smiley, L. (2018). What Happens When We Let Tech Care for Our Aging
Parents THE DIGITAL PUPPY THAT KEEPS SENIORS OUT OF NURSING
HOMES. Wired 12.19.170.
In this article, Lauren Smiley has tried to highlight the consequences when children
try to take care of the parents in a tech savvy manner. The report starts with the dialogue
between Arlyn Anderson and her father Jim. Arlyn preferred a nursing home for her aged
father on the basis of their doctor’s advice. However, her father denied the choice and
preferred to stay in his cottage in their native place Minnesota, as the cottage home had the
memory of his wife where she passed away the previous year.
AGREE: The article will help its readers to understand the choices of their parents
after a certain age. The article reflects the ill effects of the old age which is filled with the
sense of isolation as in the case of Jim without his wife present to accompany him. The article
also reflects the significance of an emotional support system at this old age which was
reflected by the significance of the animated dog, Pony in Jim’s life.
DISAGREE: According to me, the article did not give an appropriate solution for
Jim’s problem at the end. The author mainly focused on the digital media to solve the
problem of Jim in his old age. The digital media cannot be the ultimate long term solution for
the various problems of people at their old age. The author could have suggested proper
feasible solutions so that Jim could get a constant companion and his daughter Arlyn cqan
takje care of her father along with her daily works.

Schultz, N. (2018). Assisted Living: A growing elder care crisis is making life hell for
families Maine is considering a radical solution Citation metadata. 43(5).
The third article by Nina Schultz has highlighted about the consequence of the rising
population of the senior citizens in America. The problem has been highlighted through the
case study of Roland who was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and had the problem of
fading memory. In this situation, Debby, Roland’s wife was becoming more concerned
regarding her husband’s health. Debby’s duties and undertaking of the responsibilities
increased and became well consuming as her husband’s mind deteriorated. Debby had to
install proper alarm system to make her husband perform the daily routine activities.
AGREE: The article highlighted the negative impact on a nation’s economic status
due to the rising populations of the senior citizens in any country. The article also highlighted
the diseases and other serious health effects that are associated with the old age. The article
therefore reflected the need and significance of appropriate health reforms for the senior
citizens of the nation.
DISAGREE: The article just emphasized on the negative aspect of the old population
structure in the developed countries. The article however failed to highlight that the
population structure of any nation cannot function effectively without a proper share of the
senior population. The author should have highlighted ways to stabilize the gap between the
youn and the aged population share and just not emphasized on the negative aspects of the
old population.
