AI Summary
This report summarizes an assignment that focuses on the application of statistical methods, specifically ANOVA and measures of central tendency, in research. The assignment reviews a journal article by Mouhamadou (2014) that examines the relationship between safety & security and human development. The report highlights how the mean, as a measure of central tendency, is used to describe the data, and how ANOVA is employed for hypothesis testing to evaluate the relationship between the research variables. The study's use of statistical methods, like ANOVA, and the interpretation of p-values are discussed, demonstrating the practical application of these techniques in research and the writing of journal articles. The assignment provides a clear understanding of how statistical tools are used to analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions in academic research. The report underscores the importance of statistical analysis in research and provides examples of its practical application.

Article topic: Using ANOVA to Examine the Relationship between Safety & Security and
Human Development by Mouhamadou Thile Sow obtained from:

A measure of central tendency is defined a single value that give a description of a set of data by
indicating the central position within the data. This gives the measured of central tendency
another name known as measures of central location. The measures are classed under summary
statistics. The mean is the measure of central tendency that is known to many though there are
others like the mode and median. Mean, median and mode are all authentic measures of central
tendency though they are each useful under different conditions (Laerd Statistics, 2018). This
document will summarize the measures of central tendency by focusing on their application on
the quantitative research journals. The case of choice is the study by Mouhamadou (2014) that
focused on the examination of the relationship between safety & security and human
development.
The study did use a sample data from 53 African nations. The measure of central tendency
(mean) was applied in the descriptive statistics to provide summary of the two variables of
choice that is safety and security, human development. This is an example of how the study used
the mean to present the significant of the application of central tendencies in research journals. In
the selected journal the statistical test known as ANOVA was applied in hypothesis testing to
evaluate the relationship between the research variables. The ANOVA test was used to evaluate
the mean difference between the variables, and the p value used to conclude if the variables are
related or not. This study is one example that highlights how the statistical measures of central
tendency are useful when conducting research and writing journal articles.
