Introduction
During my work tenure in ANZ bank, I have faced certain ups and downs in the operation and
development of business. This has been affecting my thinking and capability to deal with the
situation and make effective application of system thinking approach in my work. I noticed that
there was a sudden downfall in the customer base at ANZ that may be due to lack of motivation
among the employees and growing competition in the market. I planned to control the situation
by taking some measure to develop internal changes and external implications on the employees.
The major step was to launch an incentive scheme for the employees to motivate them to give
their 100% in the work.
The need for System thinking tools
The need to use system thinking in ANZ bank was to make sure the current analysis about the
severity of the situation and developing an effective approach to deal with them.
CATWOE Approach for proposal
Customers: My main focus was to develop customer bases and retain the customers to
the bank. For that purpose, I trained the employees to orient the customers effectively and
consecutively to deal with the needs of the company and make substantial changes in the
operations to develop the company (Root-Bernstein & Root-Bernstein, 2013).
Actors: All the employees are actors to the schemes and facilities that have been given to
the customers. I trained the employees to act according to attracting new customers and
develop better relations with the customers. The incentive was also calculated on a
number of customers retained due to effecting acting of an individual.
Transformation Process: The employees were trained by me to enlighten them about
this new transformation in the bank. I guided them about new features and new
incentives to be calculated on the basis of current schemes associated with them
(Swanson, et. al., 2012).
World View: I have trained the employees as per the world view and process associated
with the organization and making changes in the operations as per customer feedback. I

have insisted on taking feedback from the customers to develop better services (Iwashita,
et. al., 2013)
Owner: The owner of the incentive schemes and the changes in the organization lies with
me specifically. I have been taking care of all employee needs and their respective
demands for future development in the incentive schemes. This can help me to develop
an effective way to deliver good motivation to the employees (Yuniarto, 2012).
Environmental Constraints: As per the legal needs and all available resources I have
made the schemes to benefit the employer as well as the employees.
Conclusion
The application of CATWOE has helped me to effectively understand the needs of the
employees and make effective changes in the growth of employee morale and skill set in the
future.
