1HOW TO CITE IN THE APA FORMATTING STYLE
Citations and references should always be included in the text when the students are
taking other author's work. They are over 100 references which are used in the world. The most
commonly used methods in citations are the APA, MLA, and Harvard. Recently, other methods
of referencing, such as Oxford and Chicago, are gaining popularity. Many people prefer using
APA, and it is widely used in the world. It is commonly used in writing scholarly journal articles,
academic research, and books(Appelbaum et al.,2018 ).
When citing in APA format, the in-text citations are included inside the text while the
references are included on the last page. References include the full information that is contained
in the in-text citation. The in-text citations are found in the discussion part of the paper and are
placed at the end of the text, which has been taken from other people's work. It contains four
items which are: the last name(s) of the writer(s), the year of publication, and maybe the page or
location of the information. The references include the complete names of the authors, the year
in which the data was published, and the URL page in which it is found. The references appear in
alphabetical order and are located on the last page(Hughes et al.,2017).
The citations and references in writing is a critical component of the research process. It
implies that you are acting responsibly as a researcher and not breaking the laid down
procedures. This shows that you were able to acknowledge the original authors and their work.
Citing, therefore, should be taken keenly and correctly to avoid plagiarism.
