the market of mobile computing after the expansion and development of the music industry.
The company then took the mobile computing industry with storm with the help of its various
products like, iPhone, iPod, iPad. Apple has changes its business model by changing the
products and services that are offered to the customers. The company has thereby provided
more than 800,000 apps for its mobile devices and laptops. The apps that are offered by
Apple to the customers have enriched their experience to great levels (Laudon & Laudon,
2015).
Google started its business as a search engine provider to the customers and was able
to attract the attention of a huge number of customers from all over the world. The platform
provided by Google has been able to provide a huge chance to the various advertisers for
advertising their products. The online advertising and search engine related activities have
been a major part of the business model of Google. In the year 2005 Google had acquired
Android, which was an open source mobile operating system. The Android operating system
is provided free of cost to the manufacturers of the smartphones. The business model that was
followed by Google thereby changed from providing search engine services to providing
operating systems for mobile phones (Laudon & Laudon, 2015).
The business model that was followed by Facebook was based on providing a
platform to the students of the university a place to meet and socialise with each other. The
organization has extended its business and has become the largest service based on social
networking in the world. The platform was used for staying in contact with friends and the
expressing their feelings. The organization then found a way to convert the popularity into

organizations namely, Google, Apple and Facebook. The mobile devices have developed the
market with the help of ubiquitous internet and advanced functionality. The internet access
related activities of the users in the United States have taken place with the help of mobile
devices. The tablets and the smartphones take huge advantage of the growing cloud of the
computing capacity that have been available to the smartphone users. This has led to the huge
competition that has started between the three technology giants (Laudon & Laudon, 2015).
The mobile strategy that has been used by Apple is based on providing the mobile
software applications to the users of the products that are provided by the organization. The
company has become a leader in the mobile software sector with the help of the popularity of
its App Store. Google on the other hand provides mobile computing based facilities to the
customers by providing the Android operating system to the smartphone manufacturers free
of cost. The apps that are provided by Apple to the customers with the help of proprietary
operating systems. The organization sells the apps to the customers, whereas, on the other
hand the Google provides the mobile operating systems to the smartphone manufacturers free
of cost. The mobile strategy that has been used by Facebook is related to the conversion of its
popularity and the user data into advertising dollars. The mobile ad product that has been
provided by Facebook is based on the Sponsored Stories which increased its revenues
(Laudon & Laudon, 2015).

The search based capabilities play an important role in the mobile computing related
facilities as this helps the users to find the products and services that they wish to use. The
success of mobile computing depends on the level and capability of the search engine.
Facebook had introduced a search engine to compete with Google in the year 2013. This
search engine is mainly based on the likes and the comments that are placed by the users on
the website. The results are mainly based on the social signals or recommendations provided
by the users. Apple on the other hand used the popularity of its app store for the competing
with its biggest rival Google. The strategy of the two organizations may not succeed in the
market as it is based on the social signals and popularity and not on any specific database
(Laudon & Laudon, 2015).
