The analysis of behavior and performance of employees within an organization may be
used to identify problems within an organization. In my final project, I sued these aspects to
identify problems in Apple Inc., an American multinational organization largely involved in the
design, production and sale of computer software and consumer electronics. In addition, it also
provides its consumers with online services. Apple Inc. belongs to the Consumer electronics
Industry and is currently ranked among the best technology companies including Microsoft,
Google and Amazon. The problem identified at the organization is the presence of Job unsafe
working environment characterized by sexual harassment and the management’s failure to act on
the complaints raised by employees. There is also a general feeling among employees that they
are not valued by their organization especially because of the unsatisfactory solutions offered by
the management on some of the issues raised.
The identified issue at Apple Inc. can be solved through the use of the human relations
management theory. Elton Mayo, the proponent of the theory identified the need for human
relations factor in organizations through his popular Hawthorne experiments. In his theory he,
stressed the need for acknowledging and meeting the needs of workers (Bruce & Nyland,
2011).To avoid the issue from repeating again the management should consider enhancing
interactions across all levels of the organization and take immediate action on any issues raised
by employees. It can also review employee performances regularly, establish employee
satisfaction levels and keep an eye on workplace interactions in order to identify any potential re-
emergence of the problem. Through development of my course project I have learnt about the
role of a positive work environment on the wellbeing, satisfaction and performance of
employees. I have also learnt about the role of organizations in creating a positive work
environment.
