To,
Subject: Cover letter for application to Registered Nurse Early Graduate Program
Respected Sir,
I am writing this letter for applying for the post of registered Nurse Early Graduate
Program. Thus, on the basis of the STAR techniques, I consider the situation to be time of
providing care to the patients, task including provision of an effective care and support to the
patient, the action involving an effective therapeutic relationship, the result being the
successful treatment of my patients along with their mental and physical well-being. I thus
consider them important for my abilities and enhancement of my skills.
Regarding maintenance of a patient centered approach towards my patients, I am
well informed about the qualities in delivery of such approach. During my tenure as a nurse, I
had to look after one of my cancer patients and was well aware of the qualities including the
integration of care and coordination of the care provided to my patients. For this situation, I
incorporated sound knowledge about the information as well as education sills required for
delivering a patient centered approach considering the situation. My task was incorporation
of nursing skills for my patient providing him care and support for his effective recovery
following the principles like physical comfort as well as emotional support. Thus, I can make
sure that the access to care for my patients is not futile and they receive an effective nursing

experience when I am the nurse. I believe that the code of ethics was necessary in ensuring a
proper code of conduct for the nurses. My action was to incorporate codes of nursing which
would help me to teach and value the quality of nursing care among the patients. This
resulted in a positive effect as the patient recovered within due time and his mental condition
was also enhanced. Thus, I could effectively handle the situation regarding the cancer patient
with task of incorporating an effective patient centered approach and implementing into
action through enhanced learning skills and showing comfort as well as sympathy resulting
into rapid recovery.
I confronted a situation when I faced cultural issues where the patient was rigid about
her religious ethics. The situation required the principle of self-directed learning and skill
development where I incorporated various incentives without the help of other staffs and
could choose or implement the appropriate learning strategies as well as evaluate the various
learning outcomes. My task required motivation as this kind of self-education helped me to
overcome the difficult situation and ultimately helped me in my enhancement of the
interpersonal skills in order to become a better nurse. I felt that self-education would help me
to confront and give effective solutions to problems within a nursing environment. My
action was to incorporate an effective interactive session which required being competent
and self-sufficient in terms of being prompt in clinical skills development. For me, training of
skills beyond the formal skills incorporation was important for me as a nurse as formal
training was insufficient to the availability of resources. The interactive session was
important as it resulted in a positive outcome where the patient agreed to perform the
treatment procedures and this enhanced her recovery process.
There was a situation where a conflict arose between the kinds of treatment given to
patient within the multidisciplinary team and this situation required conflict management
which required a team oriented approach. At this moment the task required team

formation as it helped to work together involving a well functional unit which helped him to
meet the care needs of the patient and included a sense of self-awareness within me. Here as
an action, I was required to possess the background and knowledge of acceptance and
awareness along with the perfect combination of adaptation of skills which would help me to
become an effective caregiver considering my profession. Moreover, I considered a positive
approach to the group work around me to be necessary for the patient to lead a more
satisfactory life. Moreover, the situation required qualities like self-interpretation, kindness
for my patients simultaneously valuing the various diversity of people. The actions involved
removal of the disparity in opinions and come to a final decision considering every member’s
opinion. This approach bore fruit as the dilemma was solved and it resulted in a positive
outcome in the treatment process.
A situation arose where one of my patients demanded a different method of
medication rather than the traditional approach. This situation required change and diversity
from the original norms. The task required diversity in the field of nursing which helped me
in the administration of quality care to the patents. Among the various areas I considered
virtues including aspects like age, disabilities, religion, socioeconomic statuses, educational
statuses, ethnic heritage and related virtues. I believed that the task required effective
communication between the patients and me as a major health care provider as it could help
in healing the bridge between the culture of medicine as well as practices and beliefs which is
important for constituting the practices of a patient’s value system. The actions involved
cultural competency or cultural awareness which was required as an integral part of nursing
abilities which helped me to enhance the diversity among the principles of nursing followed
by me. I tried to handle the challenges faced in my life. With the proper attitude to positivity,
I knew I could overcome the toughest challenges welcoming change and diversity in my
principles of providing care to my patients. Apart from these qualities, I followed a strong

holistic approach and tried to maintain a healthy therapeutic relationship. This again resulted
in a success as the contemporary methods of medication ensured faster healing of the patient
and involved a positive outcome to the challenges faced by me. All this situations helped me
to surpass the difficulties I faced, leading to ultimate success in the procedures.
