QUESTION 2 Apply the theory to your own behavioural change process and outline how
each of the steps both influence or deter you from changing your behaviour.
The theory of planned behaviour can be referred to as one of the most frequently used
theory focusing on prediction of human behaviour. This theory focuses on three major variables
which may influence a behaviour of a person or deter him. A brief self-application of the theory
is as follows:
1. Behavioural Beliefs: These can be referred to beliefs which carries a direct influence on
the outcomes which may be favourable or unfavourable. If I believe that the outcome will
be favourable to the task I am doing then there will be a positive outlook towards the
same which improves upon the likelihood of availing better outcomes. On the contrary if
I think/believe that changing the behaviour will have negative outcome then such belief
will deter me to change my behavioural.
2. Normative Beliefs: This construct focuses on key individual and characters which forms
environment around me. The expectations of such people contribute largely to changing
the behaviour of a person. If my parents believe that I can do in studies that can have a
positive influence on my behaviour as their views and opinions matters to me. On the
other side, if my co-workers believe that I should modify my behaviour as per their
opinion, in such case it would discourage me to change my behavioural as their opinions
does not matter to me.
3. Control Belief: This belief states that there are numerous of factors which controls the
belief of individuals. According to my own experience, it has been analysed that by me
that power of control factor in me is high this simply states that is the power factors. For
instance: while attending class session it is perceived by me that I have to concentrate on
all points which are being discussed by my teachers in the class session. This simply
shows that influence power factor in me is high. Whereas, at the same time there are
probable chances that I might distracted with other classmates who are not so focused to
towards their studies.
