What I learned
Even though the video reflected most of the same material learned in class, it gave me
some incredible new insights into understanding what it takes to really be an actor in New York.
Specifically, from the video, I have got to understand the need to be patient, dedicated and
determined when it comes to theatre selection process. This is because I have realized from the
video that it takes considerable amount of both time and work for one to perform in the theatre
right from audition, rehearsal and even when in the theatre where rehearsal still continues in the
day and performance in the night. Therefore, the new insights I have gained from this video is to
stay focused and dedicated once I have decided to be an actor.

I truly admire Julie Andrews’ work due to her successful performances I have seen. Her
performance chosen is the Aquaman film. In this masterpiece, Julie Andrews provides voice of
Karathen, which is mythical leviathan as well as keeper of the Trident of Alan who allies with
Aquaman. She acted effected as an undersea creature holding the keys to Arthur Curry’s (Jason
Momoa) quest of uniting Atlantean and surface worlds. She never played old heroic fish-
swimming in a sea. The film really matched her voice with something which looks like sea
creature through Karathen. She brings her character to life by banishing herself to the sea
bottom and returning to singing. Her sound is the one of music actress voicing the mythic
Karaten as a racist gatekeeper who blocks Arthur Curry’s (Jason Momoa) way, and who also

disapproves the would-be king of Atlantis never fully have Atlantean blood. She evokes my
emotion as an audience as she drops the practically perfect moniker and going full-one sea
monster. This knowledge has changed my views on musical theatre actors. I now love them
more than before after realizing that they can change roles and make it interesting as Julie
Andrews does in Aquaman.
