How Artwork affects culture
The art has the potential to influence society by instilling values, changing opinions and
translating experiences across space as well as time. Aboriginal artwork is of great value to the
western society. The image choices of an artist tell about his or her view of the society as well as
his or her values. The economic decision of the society affects artwork to a great extent. The
more it is favoured by the society, the more financial advantage will be gained by the artists.
How Technology has influenced West Coast First Nations Art
Technology along with the availability of the material has the potential to positively affect the
development as well as growth of the western coast first nation’s art. After the 1800’s technology
brought from European settlers allowed artists to create larger Totem pole carvings. Technology
helps the tribes to make attractive commodities like totem poles, printmaking, painting, jewellery
that in turn helped them to flourish.
Appropriation of Dot painting by non indigenous Australians
The dot paintings are noticed by foreigners and trade is developed giving the dot paintings
value.thi in turn enhances the business of the indigenous artists and causes flourishment of their
culture and financial condition.
How Art help culture
The artwork of a certain culture reflects its traditional beliefs. Several times an image
development strategy becomes so popular for those outside the immediate culture that this way

of creating images bleeds over to other groups and it becomes married to the greater cultural
group or region regardless of that traditional use of culture that image development strategy.

The colour and the pattern of the final work have added depth to my painting. The colours are
supposed to define as well as differentiate two major cultures. For instance, in image 2, the
pattern that has been selected by me is by keeping in mind the Western Desert Australian
Aboriginal Painting. However, while selecting the colures for the painting, I have selected the
same, keeping in mind my culture and environment. While paining the 3rd image, however, the
colors were selected keeping in mind the color used in Western Desert Australian Aboriginal
Painting. While drawing the fourth image, the pattern used by North West Coast American
Aboriginal Painting was kept in mind. I tried to imitate the patterns they used while designing
human face. However, while drawing the fourth image, I have colored it keeping in mind my
own environment and culture. The fifth image was drawn keeping in mind both the patterns as
well as the colors used by the North western coast American aboriginals.

While painting the images, I got highly influenced by both the North West Coast American
Aboriginal Painting and Western Desert Australian Aboriginal Painting. I even conducted a good
amount of research in order to more ideas about both the arts. Northwest Coast art is the term
commonly applied to a styleof art created primarily by artists from Tlingit, Haida, Heiltsuk,
Nuxalk, Tsimshian, Kwakwaka'wakw, Nuu-chah-nulth and other First Nations and Native
American tribes of the Northwest Coast of North America, from pre-European-contact times
up to the present. When it comes to the Western Desert Australian Aboriginal Painting, Within
the Western Desert region the people are relatively similar in many ways. They speak similar
dialects acknowledged as the Western Desert language. Many share a similar history with their
association with white people. They are also frequently related though marriage and family links.
The vibrant colours used by both the Western Desert Australian Aboriginal Painting and North
West Coast American Aboriginal Painting define their culture as well as vibrant nature. The
painting also tell us about the environment. For instance, the northwestern coat is a region that is
richly endowed with tremendous cedar and spruce forests, that the Native American sculptor
achieved his finest expression. It is probably here that the influence of tools upon the artist is best
exemplified; for, with the introduction of steel cutting knives, the Northwest Coast artist was free
to demonstrate his talent in the aesthetically superb sculpture that is rivalled by no other Indian
people in North America. In laid with Haliotis shell as well as painted in a careful way, the
quality of the paintings are so distinct and hey are immediately identifiable.
While painting the images I have got highly inclined by the painting style of Western Desert
Australian Aboriginal Painting. I personally will like to conduct Western Desert Australian
Aboriginal Painting. For my regular practice I believe that these art form are still not appreciated
globally and deserve more reorganization. Hence, I, as an artist will like to promote this art

forms in future. Along with practicing the painting, I will also like to gain more and more
knowledge about the art form.
However, as an artist, I am really critical about using these art form without providing
recognition to the painter. As per my opinion, it is highly crucial to take legal action against such
unethical actions. Using paintings without taking permission from the painter or possessing legal
copy writing papers is not only considered to be theft but is also considered to be an act that
demonstrate major disrespect to the painter as well as his or her sculpture. Thus in future, if I
face such scenario, I will definitely take legal action against the same.
