Introduction
Cami Rosso published an article, “ A key Survival Skill in an AI Future – The Personal
Pivot” in which she endeavors to underscore the fact that every person should be
knowledgeable on how to pivot like an entrepreneur due to the increasing use of artificial
intelligence (AI) is most of the professions. A personal pivot is defined as a change in both
mindset and approach to going through a situation that is doubtful which is more often the
case in real life. The author aims at showing the reason why personal pivot is most likely to
be the best approach to prepare for the coming shock in which human employees will be
substituted by artificial intelligence (1). Rosso (1) points out the increasing evidence of the
global adoption of artificial intelligence in multiple industries. For instance, the Venture
capitalists have massively invested in AI start-ups (2). The appropriate way to determine if
one's job or profession is soon to be substituted by automation is to examine the routine tasks.
If a more significant percentage of the job tasks is repetitive, then it will be automated
because AI is well-adapted to pattern recognition. The author argues that there is no specific
way to be ready for a personal pivot, but preparations are necessary. Thus, the skill on how to
pivot like an entrepreneur is vital for everyone to be able to survive the impending AI
automation.
Analysis
The article by Rosso (1) is appropriate for some reasons. The author describes the future of
jobs due to technological development, thus making it timely and relevant to several people.
The article explains why it is essential for employees and perhaps those pursuing
employment to know how to pivot like an entrepreneur. I particularly like the article because
it psychologically prepares employees of possible automation and massive loss of jobs.

Because of this, someone can prepare in advance to either shift their professions or be able to
survive through the AI automation. Furthermore, the author is an expert in the field.
The author contends that in the near future automation enhanced by AI will substitute manual
jobs and thus lead to a massive loss of employment. Even presently, the influence of AI can
be evidenced in most of the global industries such as venture capitalists (3). AI has been the
focus of most of the countries and has received a lot of investments. (1) observes that these
progressions necessitate the need for skills in personal pivot like that of an entrepreneur.
The author is experienced and hence qualified to publish such an article. The author is an
interdisciplinary writer that majors on neuroscience, biotech, AI, physics, and most of the
things that deal with innovation. I am of the idea that the qualification and expertise of the
author demonstrate that she is inspired and devoted to enlightening people on novelty and the
possible impacts on human life. It is on the basis of this commitment and experience that I
believe that the writer has published a credible article.
On the other hand, the article doesn’t cite any scientific evidence of all the assertions made. I
think this reduces the credibility and reliability of the inferences made in the study. Since
multiple studies (4-5) have been done on AI and its future impact on employment the author
could at least cited some of them as a way of strengthening its credibility.
Relevance
I believe that the publication “A Key Survival Skill in an AI Future — The Personal Pivot” is
a well-written and informative article and I would encourage anyone to read especially those
that are currently employed and those seeking for employment. The author effectively
provides evidence of the possible automation in the future and even goes further to explain
how one can predict if his or her job will be automated. I think this is significant because it

will prevent employees from developing health-related complications due to the loss of
employment. Studies have indicated that instant loss of jobs or unemployment leads to
depression and stroke (6). Since incidences of unemployment and associated health
complications are on the rise nowadays, it is essential to understand the cause beforehand and
be prepared for it by looking for another source of means or reducing unnecessary expenses.
The information in the article will help me to understand the dynamics of the job market and
prepare me for any eventuality in my career.
