Artificial intelligence: Impact on future
Artificial intelligence (AI) is also known as the machine intelligence and is defined as the
advancements in technology which enables the intelligence in machines or non-living devices.
The intelligence allows these devices to take decision and analyse by their senses (Müller,
2016). These capabilities were earlier with associated with only humans and at some extent to
animals or other living cells. The AI will have significant impact on the future. These
advancements have made it possible to perform task which were earlier considered as impossible
or miracles.
For instance AI has made it possible to perform activities which were difficult for
humans due to safety concerns. These machines can perform tasks with better accuracy and in
less time. However, the increasing role of these machines has also created threat on the labour
provided by human beings. Everyone wants to employ machine which can complete activities in
minutes at low cost so employers are also finding it unnecessary to hire human labour at higher
cost (Ashrafian, 2015). The AI also has negative sides for humanity. These intelligence
techniques have brought great benefits in biomedical.
However, the use of these techniques in destruction, nuclear wars or terrorist activities
has become a severe threat to survival of humanity. The adverse effect of AI are uncontrollable
and can even lead to destruction of entire human community. However, these adverse effects
cannot overshadow the improvements in life quality made by AI. The innovation and
development in the area has made it possible to treat rare diseases, increase life expectancy of
human beings and to explore new resources which were earlier difficult to access and to ease
every day tasks with more comfort and accuracy (Alarie, Niblett and Yoon, 2016).
