Introduction
The wide ranging branch that is associated with building up smart machines that are
liable for carrying out tasks that needs human intelligence is referred to as artificial intelligence.
It implies simulation in machines which are programmed for thinking like a humans as well as
mimic their actions (Allen, 2019). Each segment of the society or world is opting for
technological innovations to ensure that they can deliver their operations in an appropriate
manner. The military world has also opted for AI within their operations for gathering,
categorising as well as having analysis of data in effective manner. For an instance, the current
cooperation among air forces and ground are hampered through data processing systems along
with manual harmonisation of information. By usage of AI, military can gather signals by
drones.
Background
Artificial intelligence is defined as simulation of human intelligence processes that are
being carried out by machines. This implies a branchy associated with computer science which
aims to imbue software that possess ability for carrying out analysis within the environment by
utilisation of search algorithm, predetermined rules or recognition of patterns and on basis of the
analysis decisions are being formulated (Dahab, 2019). In context of military world, AI has its
application in different fields that comprises of surveillance, weapons targetting and autonomous
weapons, cybersecurity, autonomous vehicles, logistics and home security. The computational
military reasoning denotes computer solving military problems in which emphasis is laid on
tactical AI or formulation of battlefield decisions.
Literature review
To Investigate the concept of Artificial Intelligence
According to Allen (2019), Artificial intelligence is defined as study and design of
intelligent agents which helps to take the actions for the purpose of increasing success chances.
In business environment, changes are occurring where it is important for management to
introduce the new technology and process which can used to make easy the workings and
improve the profitability. In other words, this is a tool and insights which uses in many field such
as computer science, philosophy, neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology, operations
research, economics and optimum utilisation of resources. In military, AI is important as it uses

to detect the hidden targets in war game, shooting down drones, artillery bags and sensor feeds.
This can helps to provide a insights how to manage the activities timely and complete the task.
To identify the areas where artificial intelligence could be employed in military
According to De Swarte, (2019), AI can be used by military within the warfare platforms
in which they can be embedded within the weapons and other systems such as space, airborne
and naval. This can also be utilised within logistics and transportation of ammunition, troops and
armaments which acts as critical components for conducting military operations. Furthermore, it
will enable to recognise target in accurate manner within the critical combat environments which
will further lead to enhancement of abilities of system for identification of targets.
To identify the major challenges for implementation of artificial intelligence in military
According to Maas, (2019), artificial intelligence should be uses in all field that can help
to make easy the working and faster by implementing. There are major challenges which can
occur in implementation in military such as transparency that make sure this will fill the military
requirement consistently. The another challenge is insufficient training to people who are in
military which create the problem to understand technical changes and their implementation. The
next problem is implementation of strategies that is needed in military, create problem to
perform activities. And vulnerabilities that might be drastically reduce the performance system.
To determine the risks and dangers associated with the use of artificial intelligence in
military
According to Morgan and et. al, (2020), the major risk associated with this is cyber
security or systems can be hacked. An example can be taken to understand this aspect like if
robots are hacked then instead of hitting the destination they may target source. This will lead to
have adverse impact on their performance. In addition to this, if system is hacked then they will
be able to have access to all the information associated with their AI based weapons, vehicles,
etc.
Aims and objectives
The aim of the project “To examine the usefulness of Artificial intelligence in the
military”.
The objectives related with this are specified below:
To Investigate the concept of Artificial Intelligence.

Requirements
The adequate research is needed for completion of this project in appropriate manner.
This implies that relevant sources for secondary research like online papers, magazines, book
and journals can be utilised for having the precise information.
Methods
For conducting this research in appropriate manner, researcher needs to opt for different
tools and techniques by which information can be collected to complete the project in relevant
manner (De Swarte, Boufous and Escalle, 2019). With respect to this, both quantitative and
qualitative methods are used by researcher, they are illustrated below:
Qualitative Method
This implies method that will aid researcher to have all the non-numerical data which is
needed for completing the project in adequate manner. The information that will be acquired by
making use of this tool will be as per the required standards and researcher can make
interpretations accordingly.
Quantitative Method
It is being utilised for gathering information that is in mathematical, numerical and
statistical format for accomplishing research within relevant manner. With respect to this,
questionnaire, surveys, polls, etc. can be utilised for doing so.
In context of this project, researcher will opt for qualitative method as this allows to
gather numerical data within authentic and precise way (Haner and Garcia, 2019).
Project Management
Project management is defined as written document or blue print that involves all the
activities that are required by researchers for completing project in adequate manner. This is
critical for researchers for formulation of document that will assist them to conduct research in
precise manner:

Cost: This denotes amount or financial funds that are needed by researcher for carrying
out this tasks associated with research project. To successfully complete this project the cost
required is near around $250 and all the activities associated with this can be done in
approximately $400.
Scope: This is responsible for carrying out investigation through which insight can be
attained for initiatives related with artificial intelligence in military. This research will assist
associates to conduct investigation reports in context of such kind of investigation.
Time: This implies outline of time that is liable for researcher to conduct all activities
associated with the project (Johnson, 2019). While developing executive action plans, the time
needed for this will be around 7 months.
Quality: It is important for reseracher to furnish high quality research and for doing so, it
is important that distinct activities related with reaserch are carried out in appropriate way.
Quality of data will aid reasercher within formualtion of relevant decisions.
Communication: Reseracher have to communicate with distinct people for gathering of
data. In this case, it is important that communication is supportive as it will provide a base to
have precsie information and complete this project as per desired standards.
Risk: This is crucial for researcher to identify distinct factors that will lead to creation of
negative impact on project's performance. The critical issues associated with this project is time
management, lack of finance, etc.
Resource: This is important for researcher to have all the mandatory resources which are
required for completion of tasks in an appropriate manner. For this, relevant techniques and tools
are needed for completing project in appropriate manner.

Evaluation
The insight has been gained into different aspects related with artificial intelligence
within the military world. It has been identified that artificial intelligence leads to creation of an
affirmative influence on each segment of the society. In context of military, the instance can be
taken, like by making use of robots within the battlefield will lead them to save humans but it
also have negative impact as huge investments have to be made for implementation of this aspect
(Lele, 2019). This do not seems feasible as having thousands of robots and then training each of
them in context of peculiar data set will be difficult aspect. The intelligent & autonomous
weapon system such as cruise missiles and underwater vehicles will lead them to have positive
results.
Conclusion
From above it can be concluded that, artificial intelligence is an evolving technique
which can be integrated with aspects such as natural language processing, big data, etc. as per the
requirements. This will lead military to have relevant benefits through which enhanced benefits

can be attained. By the use of AI within this field, the human loss can be minimised and by
formulation of autonomous vehicles along with weapon system it will be easy to fight against
prevailing situations.
