Introduction
The backbone of this research report is to analyze the potential benefits and challenges
that can arise as a result of inclusion of artificial intelligence into a particular system. Artificial
Intelligence have been gaining a lot of importance in the recent years as the systems enabled with
artificial intelligence is able to perform tasks that requires human intelligence. This type of tasks
include visual perception, recognition of speech, decision making and transition between the
languages. Artificial Intelligence has a large impact on every aspect of society and has gradually
being integrated in daily work and social lives of individuals across the globe (Dawson 2016).
The research report is divided into a number of subsections for better analysis of the research
needs and for enforcing a better understanding of the research topic (Costley, Elliot and Gibbs
2010). The part one section of this report deals with the development of project management
plan that will provide the details of the background of the research along with the aims and
objectives identified for conducting a research in a legitimate manner. The project management
plan that is prepared for the project will further discuss the scheduling details and the actions that
are needed to be taken in order to ensure that the project that has been undertaken has been
completed in a successful manner (Nicholas and Steyn 2017). The next part of the report will
include a log book that will incorporate all the basic details of the project such as the tasks that
have been completed, changes implemented in the project, track and deadline set for the project
and the problems that are encountered while implementation of the project. The project log book
is an important element for tracking the project progress. Followed by that in part three of this
research report, a research is conducted to generate knowledge related to the scenario identified.
Following the research, the findings of the research will be evaluated in fourth part of the
research report. This part will form the base of the recommendations that will be communicated
to the expected audiences in the next part of research report. The final part of this research
report addresses the project success and evaluates a performance review that specifically
addressed the organizational performance and the performance of the research. The following
paragraphs evaluates the project management plan that is prepared for the research project
undertaken in the field of artificial intelligence.
Part 1: Project management Plan
1.1. Background
A project management plan is mainly described as a formal and approved document that
helps in efficient project execution (Lock, 2013). The project management plan helps in defining,
preparing and integrating the project planning activities so that the project can be implemented in
an efficient manner (Guay, Schreiber and Briones, 2016). The purpose of this project is to
perform a small scale research on artificial intelligence to comment on its benefits, challenges
and integration into a particular system.
An area of computer science focusing on the creation of human-like intelligent machines,
that has the capability of working like a human can be termed as artificial Intelligence. There are
huge benefits and advantages associated with artificial intelligence (Harrison and Lock 2017).
These benefits result in large scale adoption of artificial intelligence for business benefits
(Kerzner and Kerzner 2017). Artificial intelligence finds its application in supply chain, aviation,

marketing, finance and other (Heagney 2016). The research that has been undertaken will be
analyzing the concept of artificial intelligence and will evaluate the aims and objectives of the
research.
1.2. Project Aims and Objectives
1.2.1. Project Aim
A project has been undertaken in order to identify the probable benefits and the issues or
challenges related to the inclusion of artificial intelligence into a system. The aim of the research
is to identify the potential benefits and issues related to use of AI in a particular system. The
objectives identified for the project is highlighted in the section below-

1.5. Actions to be taken
In order to ascertain that the research project is being carried out in an effective manner,
certain actions are needed to be taken by the project manager. It is vital for the research to
choose a feasible research topic that will benefit the implementation of software projects in the
company. Since the company is associated with the development and maintaining of the
computer application, appropriate knowledge about the use of artificial intelligence is necessary.
Hence a research study is proposed that will help in better analysis of the research problem and
will help in finding solutions to the research problem (Pinto 2015). Apart from that, it is vital to
develop project management plan that will help in conducting the research in an effective
manner.
For ascertaining that the research is being conducted in an effective way possible, each
activity of the project should be completed in its proposed timeframe. In order to ensure that the
research report will meet all the requirement specifications of the project, each and every stage of
the research project is reviewed after its completion (Mir and Pinnington 2014). It is quite
essential for the project to be completed in the set timeframe so as to ensure that the new projects
undertaken by the software company is not affected as a result of this project. Regular status
update and progress update of the project is necessary to ascertain that the project is being
carried away in an efficient manner.
1.6. Summary
This section of the report is one of the most important activity associated with the
research. The section identifies the objectives and the aim of the project that has been
undertaken. As a part of the project, a research report will be delivered in the field of artificial
intelligence and its related benefits and issues. The project management plan identifies the
various activities that are needed to be finished for successful project completion. As per the
needs of the project, a schedule has been prepared along with the project budget that gives an
idea of the activities and the tasks that are needed to be completed for ensuring that the project is
being conducted in a successful manner. The project management plan further identifies the
project scope and discusses the actions that are needed to be taken in order to ensure successful
project completion. Completion of the project is the proposed timeframe is one of the most vital

As of now, the project scheduling has been conducted and the initial research plan has been developed as
well. The task requirements has been completed as per the plan. The set deadlines have been achieved and
as of now there is no need of bringing in any modifications in the project plan that is prepared.
Any Risks and/or issues Identified
In order to identify the risks and issues related to the project, a risk assessment process has been
conducted in order to get an idea of the possible issues that can arise with the implementation of this
research. One of the major issues that has been identified in this research is the time constraint. Any
change in the predicted schedule of the project can have a large impact on the successful completion of
the project.
Problems Encountered
Although, no major problems are encountered as of now, approaching the managers for collection of
primary data can be a barrier. This can be overcome by allowing a realistic timeframe for collection of the
primary data related to the research
New Ideas and Change of Project Direction
The project tasks have been scheduled in an iterative approach, which indicated that the completion of
one task will lead to start of another. Each task or activity should be completed in as much less time as
possible in order to ensure that the research project is completed in the project timeframe.
What have I learnt about myself this week?
I have learnt that I need to focus on scheduling and management of the tasks in the project. I need to
brush up my basic project management skills in order to improve by scheduling capability. However, I
felt quite confident in dealing with all the tasks related to the research. The confidence in me has helped
me in carrying out the project in an easier manner. I feel that I performed average in this week and there
is a scope of improvement. This learning will help me in my professional career as well.

Part 3: Research: Use, Benefits and Challenges of Using AI in Chatbot
3.1. Introduction
The task of this section of the report is researching the potential benefits and the
challenges associated with making use of artificial intelligence into a system. A secondary
research has been undertaken that is associated with the evaluation of publicly available
secondary sources to collect data related to the research. A small scale literature review is
undertaken for evaluating the previously published literature in the field of artificial intelligence
and its benefits and challenges. Findings from the previously published literature will help in
better analysis of research problem that has been identified. Based on the data collected from the
secondary sources, recommendations on the usages of artificial intelligence will be provided in
the later section of the report. The research will be evaluating the use of artificial intelligence in
chatbot. A chatbot can be described as a computer program capable of stimulating human
conversation along different voice commands or in form of text chats (Russell and Norvig 2016).
The use of artificial intelligence helps in better operation of chatbots.
3.2. Problem Statement
The research is undertaken on basis of a software company that is planning to implement
chatbot incorporating artificial intelligence (Nilsson, 2014). The research aims in identification
of the potential benefits and challenges that can arise as a result for inclusion of artificial
intelligence in chatbots. Identification of the potential challenges and benefits of the AI in
chatbots is essential to ensure that the project that is undertaken is completed in a successful
manner.
3.3. Research Scope
The research need is to evaluate the potential benefits and the issues associated with the
use of artificial intelligence in a software system. For this research project, the use of artificial
intelligence in chatbots are evaluated (Bond and Gasser 2014). The research is aimed in
evaluating the concept of artificial intelligence and its application in chatbots, in order to
evaluate its benefits and challenges. The research is expected to provide answers to identified
research questions and aims in fulfilling the objectives of the research study.
3.4. Research Aims and Objectives

The aim of the research is identification of potential benefits and challenges that can arise
from the inclusion of artificial intelligence in chatbots. The research study will be evaluating the

The research study will be analyzing the above identified questions in order to collect

artificial intelligence into a system, in this case, a chatbot. The evaluation of these research
questions is essential to understand the potential benefits and challenges of inclusion of AI into a
system.
3.6. Literature Review
The literature review is one of the essential needs of a research as it evaluates the
available literature in the field of the research undertaken in order to substantiate the data
analysis section with collected data. In this section, some of the publicly available journals of the
last five years will be evaluated to collect evidences associated with the challenges and benefits
of artificial intelligence.
3.6.1. The concept of artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence can be best narrated as the technological advancement that mainly
emphasizes on creation of intelligent machines that can perform work similar to a human.
Artificial Intelligence is gaining a lot of popularity mainly because of its ability to simplify
complex tasks.
According to Brynjolfsson and Mcafee (2017), the general purpose technology of
artificial intelligence enables a machine to improve its performance without any human
intervention or human help. This ensures that the task are being completed in a much less time
with a much less effort. The rise of artificial intelligence can basically be attributed with major
two factors, which includes the need of developing intelligent machines and reducing human
lead. One of the greatest advances in the area of artificial intelligence has mainly been in the area
of perception and cognition (Ghahramani 2015). One of the most prominent progresses in the
field of artificial intelligence is speech recognition. Along with the area of speech recognition,
prominent progress is seen in the field of image recognition as well. However, the advances in

the area of cognition and problem solving has been quite effective. The success of machine
learning and artificial intelligence could be achieved with supervised learning system. Gradually,
artificial intelligence is driving change, mainly in three levels, which are tasks and occupations,
business processes and business models. A chatbot can be an example of effective use of
artificial intelligence.
Artificial Intelligence can therefore be described as the development of computer systems
that has the capability of performing tasks generally performed by individuals (Hawking et al.
2014). This is one of the most significant reasons behind the inclusion of artificial intelligence in
various applications. A research has been undertaken in order to evaluate the challenges and
benefits related to the use of AI.
3.6.2. Artificial Intelligence in Chatbot
A chatbox can be best described as a computer program or artificial intelligence that is
used for conducting conversation through auditory and textual methods. The infusion of artificial
intelligence in chatbot makes it aware of the users’ need and has the capability of self-learning
and gaining information efficiently. There are a number of benefits offered by artificial
intelligence which are evaluated in the following sections.
3.6.3. Benefits of artificial Intelligence
There are a number of benefits offered by artificial intelligence. According to Lu et al.
(2018), artificial intelligence is a technology that supports the activities of daily life. Artificial
Intelligence has attracted a growth in most of the developed countries. This is because of the
benefits offered by artificial intelligence (Kerr and Szelke 2016). The main benefits of artificial
intelligence are as follows-
1. The use of artificial intelligence can help in error reduction and therefore finds its
usage in a number of daily applications.
2. Artificial Intelligence has a number of medical applications, which is another
significant advantage of artificial intelligence (Strong 2016).
3. Artificial enabled machines can perform human like work without any break, which is
its advantage (Makridakis 2017).
4. Artificial Intelligence is mainly used in exploration process such as in fuel extraction
and mining, which is one significant advantage of artificial intelligence.
3.6.4. Challenges and Issues in Artificial Intelligence
There are certain challenges and issues associated with the use of artificial intelligence.
These challenges and issues are as follows-
1. The implementation cost of artificial intelligence is quite high along with its repair and
the maintenance cost (Charniak et al. 2014).
2. The machines with artificial intelligence has no power of improving with experience
which is one of its disadvantages (Gunning 2017).

3. No creativity can be expected from machines incorporated with artificial intelligence.
4. The use of artificial intelligence can lead to serious unemployment.
3.7. Research Methodology
Successful implementation of a research project is related to identification of appropriate
research methods. The research that has been undertaken in order to evaluate the challenges and
benefits related to the use of artificial intelligence (Flick, 2011). This section o will be analyzing
the research methods, research philosophy and the research design and the data collection
process related to the research.
This research follows a descriptive research design, inductive research approach and
positivism research philosophy.
There are mainly two data types, primary data and secondary data (Gray, 2009). Primary
data are collected from sources having knowledge about the research problem while the
secondary data sources include the already published sources such as books, research journals
and previously published literature.
The collected data either from the primary sources or secondary sources or both, can be
analyzed by two data analysis process, which are qualitative data analysis and quantitative data
analysis. The qualitative data analysis process mainly involves no statistical data and the analysis
process is solely based on certain theories (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault 2015). The quantitative
data analysis process on the other hand involves statistical analysis of the present data by making
use of various statistical tools such as Microsoft excel and SPSS.
The researcher has chosen to make use of both primary and secondary data and
qualitative data analysis in this research study (Sekaran and Bougie, 2016). The primary data is
collected from interview of two managers who has experience in artificial intelligence and its
related applications and the secondary data is collected from sources, which includes previously
published literature sources, journals and books.
3.8. Summary
The methods chapter outlines the methodical tools and processes based on which this
research has been conducted. It provides a clear identification of the various tools and techniques
used in this research. The researcher has made use of secondary data along with the collected
primary data. The research findings are analyzed in the section below.
Part 4: Analysis of the Findings
This section of the report will analyze the main findings of the collected data in order to
evaluate the main challenges and benefits of making use of artificial intelligence and its
application in chatbots. Both primary and secondary data are collected which will be analyzed to
understand the probable benefits and issues that can be seen with the inclusion of artificial
intelligence in a system. For this research, particularly the application artificial intelligence in
chatbots are considered.

Primary data is collected with the help of scheduled interviews. Interviews are conducted
in a telephonic manner. The managers, who have a work experience in the field of artificial
intelligence has been contacted to provide answers to five interview questions, which were pre
designed.
Both the managers were asked to provide their opinion about the use of artificial
intelligence in different applications and the reason behind its wide adoption. Both the manager
provided similar views regarding this topic. According to the managers, time saving is an
important aspect of artificial intelligence. With the inclusion of artificial intelligence in a system
or application is it possible to complete a task in a much less effort and time. Furthermore, since
the machines incorporated with artificial intelligence can possibly act as human, the intelligent
machines are capable of performing certain major human like tasks which adds to its widespread
adoption.
The managers were asked to provide their opinion regarding the benefits that can be
achieved with the inclusion of artificial intelligence into a system. One of the managers said that
the most significant benefit of use of artificial intelligence is that, it reduces human load. The
second manager provided a similar view. The use of artificial intelligence is beneficial both for
an individual and a business.
The managers were asked to provide their opinion about the challenges that can be faced
with the inclusion of artificial intelligence in a system. Both the managers seem to provide a
similar view in this regard. One of the most significant challenges that can be faced with the
inclusion of artificial intelligence in a system is its costs of implementation. Cost of projects
involving artificial intelligence is quite high, which can be a significant challenge in its adoption.
The managers were asked to provide their opinion regarding the use of artificial
intelligence in chabots. The first manager has opined that the use of AI in chatbots has
considerably helped in improving the customer services offered by different business
organization. The second manager provided a similar opinion. According to the manager, the
inclusion of artificial intelligence into a system has revolutionized the delivery of customer
services. With the inclusion of artificial intelligence in chatbots, it is possible to provide a much
intelligent customer service to the customers and therefore, the adoption of artificial intelligence
in chatbots are expected to increase.
Lastly, the managers were asked to provide their opinion regarding the increase in
adoption of artificial intelligence in future. Both the managers have provided a similar opinion in
this regard. It is expected that the use of artificial intelligence will increase in future due to the
increasing dependency of the AI on daily task.
Apart from the interview, data related to the potential benefits and challenges associated
with the inclusion of AI into a system, is collected from the secondary sources as well. The data
collected from the previously published journals and literatures indicates that the use of artificial
intelligence in different applications and systems is expected to increase mainly because of the
benefits it offers. Apart from that the revenue of AI is expected to increase in future.
