INTRODUCTION
AI is defined as the intelligence characteristics developed within machines. These
attributes such as recognition, sensing and decision making abilities are considered to be part of
only humans. However, the science has been exploring its applications and machines are
transforming their abilities to cognitive approach. AI has been significantly contributing to the
health care and business aspects (Wogu and et.al., 2017). The use of AI enables healthcare
professionals to perform critical and complex surgeries with ease. It also improves efficiency and
accuracy in functional activities of business. However, these applications do not overshadow the
threats caused by AI. The report will critically evaluate the benefits and possible threats of
artificial intelligence.
Reason for choosing the topic:
In every part of the world AI use is increasing thus it is important that all aspect related to
it must be analysed. AI will bring significant changes in both positive and negative aspects thus
it is essential to study the topic so that its benefits does not overshadow the harmful effects of AI
related threats (Russell, Moskowitz and Raglin, 2017).
Key sources:
The selected key sources effectively evaluate the possible threats and how they can
impact lives. There are many sources which emphasis on AI as aid, however the facts and
possibilities discussed in the selected sources cannot be denied. This is the main reason to choose
these sources.
Source evaluation:
It is highly essential to analyse and evaluate the validity of the sources so that the essay
and discussion is valid and effective. For evaluating the source CRAAP test is used which
measures different parameters for the evaluation purpose.
Thesis statement:
From the analysis of different sources, it has been analysed that there has been enough
discussion and knowledge regarding benefits of AI. Thus, it is high time that a focus must be
developed towards its threats as well. For this purpose, the thesis statement is chosen as: “To
explore the challenges and threats related to implementation of AI systems and applications.

Arguments:
The two biggest arguments against the artificial intelligence are that these intelligent
machines are replacing humans and their increasing dominance will one day make them
dangerous. It is very easy to modify them and thus they can be used for causing harm to people.
Artificial machines are not capable to make ethical judgements. Thus if these machines will be
accessible to unsocial elements then they can use it for destructive activities. In such cases it will
be impossible for the responsible authorities to prevent and control the losses (Is Artificial
Intelligence Dangerous?, 2016). However, the supporters of AI believe that this type of threats
are not only linked with AI instead every technique can be misused. So it totally depends upon
the perspective of individual who is using this technology.
For instance, the same technology can help military to protect their citizens against
terrorist attacks and soldiers will be benefited from working in dangerous war zones. Similarly,
the efficient performance of AI machines can help employees to execute their tasks quickly.
Though there will be jobs in which human resources will be replaced by the AI but at the same
time there will be huge demand of the employees who can regulate the functioning of AI
(Scherer, 2015). They will be needed to maintain and to evaluate functional errors in these new
supporters of industry.
Writing plan:
In order to complete the writing, plan the first step was to conduct suitable research and
to understand both the aspects of topic. After a lot of research content was organised so that
thesis statement and corresponding arguments can be developed. When sufficient content was
available then draft and final version of the essay was written.
Challenges and solutions:
The biggest challenge experienced was to determine that which side is to be selected. AI
has both advantages and threats. One cannot deny that AI has affected the employment statistics
and there are incidents when machines become uncontrollable and has even taken lives of

people. However, contribution of AI to healthcare is crucial as well (Recht and Bryan, 2017).
Thus, it is very challenging to give a specific final tag to AI that if it is a threat or aid.
CONCLUSION
From the report it can be concluded that AI cannot be considered as completely good or
completely bad. It completely depends upon the way it is implemented and how it is being used.
It has been analysed from report that before enhancing their role in society there must be proper
analysis and research that how its possible threats can be eliminated so that in future no such
hazardous consequences can take place.
