INTRODUCTION
Artificial intelligence is termed as digital computers' ability or robot that is controlled by
the computer in order to performs the tasks that is associated commonly with intelligent beings
(Boden, 2018). It has also been frequently applied to developing systems project which are
blessed with intelligence process and also with characteristics of human. These characteristics
include ability to reason, generalising or learning form their past experience. The main goal of
this research includes reasoning, to represent, knowledge, planning, learning, natural language
processing, perception and also ability in order to move and manipulate objects. Thus, this essay
highlights on the question that artificial intelligence is a threat or an aid to future of humanity.

The term artificial intelligence is defined as provider to the systems with ability in order
to learn and to improve automatically from experiences without being expressly programmed
(Charniak, Riesbeck, McDermott and Meehan, 2014). It is known as learning of a machine that
focuses on development of computer programmes that has an ability of accessing data and also
use them in learning themselves. In simple words it is also known as ability of machine as per
thinking and learning and tries to make computer the smart.
Importance of artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence act as extremely crucial part as it are used on day to day basis of
daily life of an individual (Ghahramani, 2015). It is nothing rather than just a science of
computers and machines that develops the intelligence as like the human beings. It has taken the
special place in terms of all the advancement that has been taken place till today. Nowadays, all
the people and the world is based on machines, software and various automatic processes. Thus,
it has taken a huge place in the life of the people and company. This intelligence has made the
life and working environment of people easy. They are important in more extreme ways that
includes the following-
 A great help for humans- They have reduced the human efforts in various areas by
performing number of activities on a regular basis. It helps in getting work done faster
and smoother without any trouble. It leads in getting the faster and correct result in
limited times.

 Widely used in banks and financial systems- It is used in banking system and financial
system. Banks use this system for investing money shares, financial operations, managing
various properties, etc. this task are difficult if human does it. This helps the customers to
feel happy as they can enjoy quick and excellent service for all the needs in terms of
banking and finance.
 A perfect addition to heavy industries- it is used in unit of production in big
manufacturing companies. This helps in giving shape to an object in specific manner.
Thus, with help of Artificial intelligence system, objects are easily moved from one place
to another. This system also leads in keeping the track record of employee and can be
easily extract the crucial data that has been stored.
 Efficient use in Air transport- Air transport is the transport system with the most
systematic way, so they require artificial intelligence system for surviving. There are also
number of functions in the machines and process of management in Airport that are
basically controlled by AI system. Thus, there are various features that makes the
artificial intelligence use as crucial part in Airport.
 Feature of medical science- this system has completely changed the way of medical
science. Due to this, the medical science achieved an ability of creating a virtual personal
health care assistant.
 A great future ahead as well- engineers are trying to study human brains and also trying
to install it in human intelligence. It is the toughest challenge in engineering but lot of
them have accomplished. It leads in lot of benefits if the human brains are replicated in
artificial intelligence. Thus, apart from treating the brain injuries, diseases advancements
in communication technology will help them in designing machines that has the msot
powerful impact towards society.
 Gaming- it also plays critical role in games that includes chess, tic tac toe. In these types
of games, machines has to think of multiple possible steps that is based in formula
knowledge. A dream of reinventing a world- this machines or artificial intelligence will help in taking
over the menial task that includes rubbish disposal, construction, digging and so on.
Afterwards all the humans on the earth will not be discriminated and will be treated

equally. Thus, it will help human to focus on their strengths on the work of higher levels
and accomplish it and take technology towards new heights (Scherer, 2015).
Artificial intelligence as a threat
Artificial intelligence is changing the life of people and world in many ways. The most
imminent applications of AI is identified in terms of automated hacking (Luxton, 2016). It has
also begun to surpass the human performance level. It is a hypothesis that substantial the
progress in artificial general intelligence. There are many disadvantages of artificial intelligence
that has been discussed as per below context-
 High Cost- In order to create the machines or robots, huge amount of money is required
to make such machines as they are the most complex ones (Russell and Norvig, 2016).
Thus, to repair or to maintain them, it requires high amount. In addition to this, it also
needs to be frequently updated so that it meet the needs of changing environment.
 No replicating humans- there are lack of emotions or moral values in machines. They
only do work as per the program that is installed in them rather than making the
judgements regarding what is right or what is wrong. If something outside the program
work is to be done, then they either perform in incorrect manner or may breakdown in
such type of situations.
 No improvement with experience- Humans are improved with training and experience,
but artificial intelligence cannot be improved by the same. It may lead in wear or tear
with time. It has maximum data but perform in completely different manner as humans.
Further, they don't have any sense of belonging or togetherness or a human touch.
 No original creativity- they can help in designing and creating but don't have the thinking
power as like human brains or even originality of human mind.
 Unemployment- As humans in today's world have been replaced with machines
extremely. This leads in large scale unemployment. It is also termed as socially
undesirable phenomenon. If the use of artificial is increased than, will be losing their
power of creativity and will become lazy to higher extent.
Thus, from above, it has been analysed that if artificial intelligence comes in wrong hands,it may
become as a serious threat to the mankind in general (Luxton, Anderson and Anderson, 2016). It
may also lead towards mass destruction. It is also occurs fear of machines taking place of
humans to a large extent.

Artificial intelligence as an aid
Artificial intelligence is important for every individual as it has reduced the efforts of
human to a great extent (Mancini, 2017). There are many advantages of the artificial intelligence
system which are as follows-
 Error Reduction- Artificial intelligence helps in reducing error or chance of any mistakes.
It is also applied in various studies. Thus, robots are the one who has more ability in
order enduring space and hostile atmosphere. They are installed or assembled in such
way that hostile environment cannot affect them.
 Difficult Exploration- this system can be used in mining process or any type of difficult
process in terms of exploration. These machines are also be used in ocean floor and
overcoming human limitations. Robots are that type of machines that can do any type of
hard work easily without any type of difficulty.
 Daily application- this method has been become very common phenomenon in lives of
people every day (Recht and Bryan, 2017). GPS in smartphones are the important
example that uses the artificial intelligence system. It has also been noted that, they have
an ability of correcting the human errors in terms of spellings by easily predicting what
an individual is going to type. It has also been employed by institutions related to finance
and banking in order to organise and manage data. It also helps in detecting fraud and
wrong uses.
 Repetitive jobs- this are the flat in nature and can be carried out with help of machines
intelligence. As it has been analysed that machines has an ability of thinking faster than
humans and also can be put to multi tasking activities. Artificial intelligence can be
employed for carrying out tough and dangerous task because their parameters can be
easily adjusted.
 Applications of medical- Application of AI is also found widely in the medical field
(Nilsson, 2014). This helps doctors to assess the patients and their risk in terms of health.
Thus, side effects of various medicines has also been easily detected. Furthermore, this
machines are used by the mental doctors to treat mental patients for coming out of
depression and also for remaining active.
 No breaks- Machines are those who works continuously and do not need any kind of
break frequently. They are the one which are programmed for long hours. So they can

work continuously without any break for refreshments. In addition to thus, they do not
get distracted or tired for performing task.
Thus, from the above discussion is that there occurs two main fears with artificial intelligence
(McConville ed., 2017). The first is future fear as the world has started to make machines that
make decisions like humans but they don't have morality and will never ever have. And the
second fear is that once systems are build which are intelligent like humans, later these machines
those who are intelligent will make smarter machines which will be referred to as super
intelligence. It has been analysed by the experts that things will spiral really out of control as
growth and expansion of machines would increase exponentially. With every great innovation
there are some aspects of risks. One of the great risk of this intelligence can be that it can be used
in destruction or any foolish activities. This technology that has been created may kill humans in
the future (Neuman, 2016). Thus, for taking care, there are number of organisations and also
scientists that are pushing regulatory oversight on the application of Artificial intelligence
system. The needs of oversights must be on national and international level so that the countries
in the whole world can be at peace and also growth in positive way in their respected countries.
In addition to this, there are also various laws, regulatory guidelines and also procedures that
helps in monitoring use of artificial intelligence in present time. Thus, humans safety is the prime
concern in the world.
In other side, artificial intelligence also plays critical role in both that includes
development of business and also the process in terms of development (McGovern and et.al.,
2017). Thus, with huge and rapid growth in technology and development, people can except
many exciting features and uses of the artificial intelligence in the future.

From the above essay, it has been concluded that artificial plays important role in day to
day activities of every individual involved in the world. Further, it also helps in analysing that it
is the major threat to the future of humanity. This threat arises as the employment level of the
people are going down as the place of humans has been replaced by the machines. In addition to
this, human will become more lazy and will completely depend on machines for every single
work in their life. Therefore, artificial intelligence acts as the major threat in life of people in the
