INTRODUCTION
Background of the research
Digital workplace transformation is the process of aligning advance technology in the
workplace and turning the business operation. With the help of digital workplace business
operation can be improved ineffective and efficient manner. A flexible workspace is being
created which accommodate various works, workers and technology. Using the concept of digital
workplace transformation various components can be brought together through which different
initiatives can be taken. Many devices, software, platforms etc., are used in order to execute the
job and improve organisational performance (Papagiannidis and Marikyan, 2020). In recent time
were competition is high it becomes necessary for the company to transfer their workplace in
digital way. To conduct this research, ASDA is being chosen as an organisation. ASDA is one of
the British supermarket chain. It’s headquarter is in Leeds, UK. The supermarket was founded on
1949 by Peter and Fred Asquith and Sir Noel Stockdale. Currently the company serve in more
than 633 locations in United Kingdom, Japan, Chile and many more.

What is the conceptual framework of digital workplace transformation?
As per the view of Isaksen and et. al (2020), digital workplace transformation is business
concept which is used by the organisation to change their working space in digital manner. Many
technological advancements are being aligned by the works so that organisational performance
can be improve. In recent time digital workplace is come out to be solution in various company.
Problem like lack of commitment, reduce productivity, inefficient performance is being solved
using digital technology. A digital workplace helps in designing a creative business environment
for employees to work in smother manner.
What is the requirement of digital transformation within the workplace of ASDA?
According to Schwarzmüller and et. al (2018), with the increase in competition it becomes
very necessary for the ASDA to transfer their workplace by using digital technology. The
foremost requirement for digital workplace transformation is to increase productivity, by using
technique working hour can be reduced which will aid in increasing employee productivity.
Secondly, it will assist in improving business performance by minimising the workload and
increasing profit. Using right tech and tool will ease the workflow by integrating various task.
What are the challenges that ASDA could be faced due to absence of digital transformation at
workplace?
As per the view of Koka and et. al (2021), there are many challenges that could be faced by
ASDA in the absence of digital workplace transformation. The first challenge that will be
encounter is gaining competitive advantage from their rivalry. without digital technology they
cannot perform better with their competitor. Another challenge is solving customer need in
effective and efficient manner. This will reduce their customer base if their query will not be
solved adequately.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research methodology can be defined as a systematic process of identifying, analysing
and interpreting the data. This section helps in achieving the aims and objective in accurate way.

Research philosophy: There are two types of research philosophy i.e., Positivism and
Interpretivism. in current investigation, researcher will be choosing positivism philosophy. the
reason behind selecting this is it will help in identifying and gathering quantitative information
(Bairagi and Munot, 2019).
Research approach: There are two types of research approach to test the theories that is
Deductive and inductive. As per the current investigation deductive approach will be selected by
the investigator. It is choosing because it will help in testing existing theories that is based on
quantitative information.
Research strategy: There are various research strategy such as survey, systematic
literature review, case study, action research etc. As per the current research topic, researcher
will be selecting survey strategy to collect numerical information. This is also choosing because
it will help in gathering numerical data from wider population (Walseth, Engebretsen and
Elvebakk, 2018).
Research choice: There are two type of research choice which is quantitative and
qualitative. further they are divided into three groups that is mono method, mixed method and
multi method. In current investigation, examiner will be selecting Quantitative research choice
and in that mono method is used because they want only single type of data. Quantitative
research is selected because it will help in gathering numerical data that can be expressed in
numbers and words.
Data collection: Primary and secondary are the two data collection method. As per the
current topic Primary data collection technique will be used by investigator. This is being used
because it will help in collecting fresh data, directly from the respondent. The research
instrument will be Questionnaire (Haghani, Bliemer and Hensher, 2021).
Sampling: There are two methods to select the respondent which are probability and non-
probability. In present research, investigator will be choosing probability sampling. this is being
selected because it will select participants in equal and fair manner. The sample size would be 30
mangers of ASDA (Bhardwaj, 2019).

ANTICIPATED OUTCOME
The main outcome from this research is that digital transformation is one of the
emerging concept. Companies need to invest their time and capital to transfer their working
place by using various tech advancement. This will solve their problem and improve their
productivity and performance. By changing the workspace various advantage can be acquired by
organisation which will help them to enhance their productivity and performance. The benefits
that can be acquired are improved customer experience, more actionable result and higher
productivity.
