Talent management is defined as the process of acquiring, managing, developing, retaining
the competent workforce within the organisation for longer time period. In addition to this, talent
management allow an organisation to maintain its performance level and attain competitive
advantage at marketplace (Das and Kodwani, 2018). For the present study, Asda is taken into
consideration. It is a British supermarket chain of UK which was established in year 1949. The
report will cover aims and objectives associated to talent management. Further, methods used to
conduct study is described along with the recommendations as well.

Concept and importance of talent management
According to SUSAN (2019), Talent management is basically an approach which is used
by organization in order to manage and retain its staff members in an effective and appropriate
manner. In addition to this, it is basically place right candidate at right position so that the overall
organizational objective is attained. It is important for an organization to focus on managing

talent as it help in increasing productivity, develop brand image, attain competitive advantage,
enhance profitability and also help in attaining strategic approach (Galagan, Hirt and Vital, 2019)
Moreover, it is analyzed that with the help of talent management an organization is able to
acquire, develop and retain competent workforce which help in maintaining performance at
marketplace effectively and properly.
New and innovative ways used by Asda to attain strategic approach to talent management
As per the view point of Taha (2020), It is determined that there are various new initiatives
and strategies used by organization for talent management. One of the way is providing career
and development opportunities to employees as it help in retaining them for longer time. Another
strategy is providing rewards and recognition of their good performance as it make employees
feel valued at the workplace (Sheikh, Christina and Sharina, 2020). Moreover, offering
impressive salaries is also considered as they new way of managing talent. Apart from this, there
are also other strategies such as motivation, training and development, allow participation of
staff members in decision-making and so on.
Challenges faced by Asda while implementing new and innovative ways of talent management
According to Meh and Shen (2020), It is determined that there are various challenges faced
by higher authorities of organization at the time of implementing new and innovative ways of
talent management. One of the challenge is ineffective leadership due to which they are not able
to facilitate direction to employees which impact on the performance in a negative manner. In
addition to this, another challenge is disagreement among employers and employees. Apart from
this, there are also other challenges faced such as different personality and mindset, ineffective
communication, increasing employee turnover ratio, increase in cost and so on (Pham and Dang,
2021). It is important for organization to focus on dealing with the issues effectively so that they
can manage and retain competent workforce for longer time.

objective to attain strategic approach to talent management. Asda make use of new and
innovative ways as it help organisation to enhance its productivity, employee retention and
satisfaction and many more (Groves, 2019). Thus, such execution enable company to attain
strategic approach to talent management.
Cost: It is an important factor without which the decisions regarding research activities is
not effectively implemented. It is analysed that developing budget help in implementing research

Time: It is an important factor that help an organisation to attain competitive advantage

study is 3 months.
Quality: Another important factor is quality as it is important for researcher to gather
quality data so that valid and reliable conclusion is drawn. In the present study, the data is
collected through articles, Journals which has been already gathered by professionals and experts
(Jabbar, 2018). This help research to gain in-depth knowledge regarding topic and develop
quality information as well.
Risk: It is vital for researcher to analyse the risk before initialised the project so that
activities are implemented without any delay and issues. The risk may involve insufficient
resources, funds, ineffective communication and so on.
Communication: It refers to the process of communicating with the stakeholders
associated to research. In addition to this, the research uses different modes of communication
such as mail, message in order to give information regarding project to team members. \
Resources: It is important for researcher to ensure that all the resources required for
conducted study should be appropriate. The resources required for present study is manpower,
funds, stationery, computer system and many more.

It is defined as a chart that shows the relationship between the project activities
implemented for the completion of project in whole. In addition to this, it is basically a task
projection that organise project of group within desired selection (Jia and et. al., 2018). By the
assistance of this, researcher is able to categorise the whole task into easy manner that leads to
implementation of activities timely and effectively.

research. In addition to this, the project activities is represented on horizontal activities and the
time required to complete such activities is showed on vertical axis. The chart involve starting
time, ending time of activities that leads to completion of research within given time frame.

It is considered as a procedure which is used by researcher in order to gather as well as
analyze data from reliable and valid sources. In addition to this, it involve a complete process
that is data collection, data interpretation, data analysis and so on. While conducting the research,
investigator make use of several methods in order to make study more effective and relevant.
Some of the methods used by researcher for present study are as follows:
Primary research: It is defined as a method of collecting raw information which is original
in nature. In addition to this, it is analyzed that herein a proper interaction take place among
investigator and respondent in order to collect detailed information (Kashyap and Verma, 2018).
The different methods of collecting primary information are interviews, observation, survey and
so on.

Secondary research: It is basically a matter of collecting data from the already existing
information or past data. The various sources of collecting secondary information is journal,
articles, books, online polls, and many more. It help researcher to interpret the data on which the
primary research has been conducted in an effective manner.
For the present study, both the methods are used by researcher in order to conduct the study.
For collecting primary data, a questionnaire is develop by investigator as it will help in gaining
in-depth knowledge about research topic due to which valid and reliable conclusion can be
drawn. For this, 40 participants who are the employees of Asda is taken into consideration as
participants. On the other hand, secondary data is collected through different forms such as
online polls, articles and many more. One of the vital reason of choosing both the methods to
collect information is it become easier to analyze the nature of study so that proper research can
be performed by primary sources through considering second as evidence.
Qualitative research: It is an important method of investigation which help to collect
detailed information about respondents. In addition to this, it is a method of gathering non-
numeric information which is used to increase understanding of opinions and reasons (Lejeune,
Beausaert and Raemdonck, 2018). The methods of collecting qualitative information is
observation, group discussion anymore. Herein, the question asked is open ended and is semi
structured in nature.
Quantitative research: It is a systematic way of gathering numerical information and
performing statistical data. This method is used by researchers when population is large or
sample size is large. The methods of quantitative research are cross section survey, sampling
method, online survey and many more. It is analyzed that it involve close ended question and is
highly structured manner of gathering information.
For the present study, Quantitative research method is taken into consideration by
researcher. The reason behind choosing quantitative information is it helping performing in-
depth analysis of data by considering the viewpoint of various people or respondents. . Along
with this, it consume less time and cost as compared to other method of collecting Information.
