INTRODUCTION
Managing adults refers to the management of all the activities which are being performed
by an adult when they are not in a condition to manage their needs by their own. In order to
manage an adult, there are several complex care which are provided to the individuals who
require or are in a receipt of a complex care. In simple words, managing adults with complex
cares can be defined as managing the activities of an adult who may be ill, disable or following
any type of hospital treatment (Bischof and et.al., 2019). Present study is based on Scenario-A in
which there is situation where an adult named Mrs Joyce Adams is being following some
treatments is examined. This report consist of an analysis of assessment and care of an adult with
a complex care need which includes effective communication with the adult, their family
members and with the multidisciplinary team. Further this report comprises a critical appraise to
the pathophysiology underpinning complex conditions. This study also includes an evaluation of
all the legal ethics and professional issues that are underpinning complex care. Lastly this study
involves a demonstration on proficiency in numeracy for the purpose of applying
pharmacological aspects safely.
TASK 1
Evaluation of assessment and care of an adult with complex care needs
It is essential for an individual to understand the need for assessment and care of an adult
with the complex needs that are to be followed in order to perform their task in the most effective
manner. A small mistake can become a huge offence while managing an adult care and assessing
their care with undertaking several complex care needs. Mes Joyce Adams is an adult ageing 68
years. They re a patient who is suffering from a severe disease which was founded diagnosis of
sepsis. There are majorly three stages of sepsis which includes sepsis, severe sepsis and septic
shock (Gajewski and et.al., 2018).
In order to deal with the situation, the individual who is being involved in the care of
patient needs to undertook all the activities safely and securely in order to prevent any efficiency.
Sepsis is a major disease in which complex care is necessary for the patient and communication
with the adult play a major role in encouraging and motivating them to become fit and setting
their mindset that they can be treated with this type of disease (Casey, Laffey and Fitzpatrick,
2019).

patients of sepsis which is to be followed and consumed mandatory basis by the patient in order
to overcome the disease and fight like a warrior.
Mrs Adams is a retired pharmacist which means that they are having basic knowledge
about these diseases which is stopping them to be motivated for the treatment and they are not
able to win from their mindset for the necessary treatment of sepsis. They are living with their
husband which makes this essential for the individual who is responsible for complex care of the
patient has to guide their husband for the necessary aspects in order to encourage them that if the
treatment is done effectively then there are chances of being fit and live a happy life in the
coming future.
Sepsis is a disease in which being motivated play a major role. If the mind itself looses
the hope for being fit, the treatment cannot be successful. In order to keep the patient motivated,
the individual who is in the care of patient has to be joyful and perform all those activities which
can cheer up the patient and gives a hope for living more. The activities which can be performed
for cheering up the patient includes majorly entertainment and fun based acts. The individual can
cheer up the mood of the patient by talking to them, story telling can take place and going to
market and having activities with considering health aspects can be performed by the person who
is in the service of patient (Painchart and et.al., 2019).
Mrs Adams has already diagnosed with colon cancer which can be used as
encouragement to them as they have also fought with that disease and won as a warrior. As per
the observations, Mrs Adams is being observed low of mood since four months because of the
sudden death of their sister. This has extremely frightened them to undertake the surgery og
Sepsis. They have to be motivated in order to take the surgery with a positive mindset that they
can live and become fit after the surgery.
The major negativity which is being arises in the mindset of patient is their loss of sister.
This has resulted in setting their mindset for not living and let it go according to the situation. In
