and have contributed to the development of work plans and team goals. One of the most
challenging tasks I have experienced there involved planning how to introduce a special needs
client to animals. This was particularly difficult to achieve, as the client had a strong fear and
dislike of animals. To address this fear, I developed and implemented a process that gradually
moved my client from his fear of horses to eventually riding a horse. This was achieved by first
showing him pictures of horse, then showing videos, then taking him to a horse riding school.
Throughout the process, he was unsure and hesitant and required much encouragement, but later
could ride horse. This positive outcome was only possible through my strong consultation with
other co-workers regarding physical props that would boost the client’s confidence and with the
client’s doctor regarding assistive customized equipment to aid the client in riding the horse. By
implementing learning processes through strong team collaboration, I demonstrated a strong
understanding of work requirements and a strong development of work plans and team goals.
Achieving results is important in being an effective worker. My ability to support productive
working relationships has been strongly demonstrated in my current role. This was verified
when, due to a change of department manager in my first week at Endeavour, the needs and
expectations placed on me changed frequently. By reason of conflict between staff and the new
manager, I quickly recognised that our team needed to decrease arguing and increase
productivity as soon as possible and set about fostering an environment based on positive
working relationships.
Displaying personal drive and integrity is something that I strongly seek to do wherever I work.
For example, as a Support Worker, there was once a scenario where I requested a wheelchair-
bound client to stand. Moreover, my religious aspects have equally motivated me to undertake
profession in this domain. Being from a Christian background, I feel it was God’s calling to
undertake studies in psychiatry. I wanted to study at Notre Dame as it is one of the premier
institutes in the country for medicine. My core motivation to study at Notre Dame was due to its
course, course content, teacher to student ration, good review of the University (Marrocco,
2009). The respect the University has gained over the years is immense in the field of Medicine.
Moreover, the University has an Objectivity to create unique minds, which can provide service
for the betterment of the community.
While working at a care giver, the needs and expectations placed on the team changed
frequently. By reason of conflict between staff and new manager, I quickly recognised that our

team needed to decrease arguing and increase productivity as soon as possible and set about
fostering an environment based on positive working relationships. To achieve this, when liaising
co-workers, I always started conversations by first actively listening to their stories and opinions.
This communicated respect for their personal views. Something I consistently avoided was
talking behind my colleagues' back and I led by example and encouraged other to follow my
lead. By acting in this professional manner, I was able to garner trust between and amongst the
team. After trust was built, I reinforced positive team support for the new manager and modeled
embracing the new changes. As a result. The team worked together with the manager, even when
they did not believe that the now policies were better than the previous policies. This positive
outlook ensured that we were able to move forward to meet operational goals and ensure the
continuity of high level of service.
