1PROJECT PLANNING AND BUDGETING
Project Goals and Objectives
St. Dismas is a medical facility where the patients and injured people can get treatment
after admission. In spite of providing satisfactory services, there have been some problems as the
institution started losing the number of patients for some time. After conducting a survey, the
authority has found that the main problem that patients are facing is that there is no residential
system. Many of the patients, including the elderly people, often coming through long distances
for treatment need a nearby residential centre so that they can rest and also visit the hospital in
case of further need or second phase of treatment. The authority has thus decided to build an
assisted living facility where the patients can stay and rest for some time as required. As per the
initial plan, there will be 100 units of rooms constructed in the facility where the patients will be
able to stay. In addition, the patients will be assisted by specially trained nurses who will be
recruited and trained after the facility is ready for use.
The main goal of the project is to provide the patients of the hospital with the benefit of
assisted living in a facility that will be constructed on the hospital premises. Accordingly, the
objectives of the project are determined as follows.
To construct an assisted living facility for the patients of the hospital
To provide the assisted living facility for the critically injured and elderly patients
To create opportunity for growth of the medical centre as increased number of the
patients will increase the revenue of the hospital
As per the primary objective of the project, the assisted living facility will be developed
for the patients who will need to rest under assistance. The facility will be divided into two

different departments – light assistance and heavy assistance. The light assistance rooms will be
provided to the patients who will not require much assistance whereas the heavy assistance
rooms will be provided for the patients who will require significant amount of assistance. For the
assistance purpose, new nurses will be recruited and specially trained before allocating them with
assistance duties in the living facility. In addition, special marketing will also be conducted in
order to attract more patients to come to the medical centre for treatment so that the revenue of
the institution increases and the medical centre can grow over the course of the next few years.
Project Scope Statement
The primary scope of this project is the construction of the assisted living facility for
providing the facility of assisted living to the patients of the hospital. The overall scope of the
project include the following.
Operational Implementation – This part of the project includes the development of a
suitable operational plan for the assisted living facility. As per the initial plan, several staff and
assistance nurses will be recruited and allocated to the facility. Moreover, food service will also
be provided to the patients and the food will be cooked in the kitchen of the facility.
Legal and Licensing – Before construction and setting up of the assisted living facility, it
is important to procure the license and fulfil all legal requirements and formalities associated
with the project.
Marketing – Marketing is another important aspect of this project. For marketing
purposes, volunteers will be hired and specific marketing techniques will be used including
