1ENGLISH ESSAY
Introduction
One of the major issues in the contemporary society is the context of disability. It
generally involves the stigmatizing towards the disabled people and further formation of the
biases in the daily living ("Opinion | If You're in a Wheelchair, Segregation Lives." Breaking
News, World News & Multimedia - The New York Times 2018). I believe disability is an essential
problem in the domain of public health especially in the context of the developing countries and
the Asian countries. The essay argues on the different attitudes and the views of the society on
the disabled people. It furthermore illustrates the challenges faced by the disabled people in their
daily lives.
Body
Over the last few decades, the development of the awareness campaign together with the
aspirations and the opportunities for the disabled people has created some of the scope for the
issues and the challenges faced by the disabled people. But despite of these progresses and the
development, there still exist the neglected and the negative attitudes of the public in the society.
In the context of the historical era, some of the famous disability activists like Robert
Burgdorf, Marcia Pearce raised the topic of the ugly laws in various countries. These laws
deemed it illegal for an individual in the society who is disabled, mutilated for feeling or being a
disgusting objet in the views and the attitudes of the people in the society ("Opinion | Passing My
Disability On to My Children." Breaking News, World News & Multimedia - The New York
Times 2018). These laws have been long criticizing towards the prevention of the people with
physical disabilities from visiting the public. These developments of the ugly laws are the

sources of foundations that helped in the direction of the future legislations and the policy and
the procedures related to the rights of the people with disabilities.
I feel that if you are in a wheelchair, you experience the segregation of lives. Often I
have seen that disabled people are relegated to any of the corner or a black room. Often in case
when disabled people want to go out to have dinner or at the pubs, they are being mocked or
eyed by the people in the scene. Often in these scenarios, the famous bars and the dine out
restaurants greets the wheel chaired person in a state of shock in case of the absence of the care
goers (Morris 2014). Having disabled and carrying a wheel chair itself seems to be a punishment
and sin for the people due to these sort of ableism and variations they face in their everyday life.
I furthermore believe that though there have been numerous awareness camps and legislations
passed by the government of the nation, the attitudes, the limited movements and the
segregations in case of the disabled person in the public is commonly accepted and granted by
the modern society.
I furthermore observed some of the instances where the person lives of the disabled
people are questioned by the society as a whole. Being disabled both physically and mentally
makes them the discriminated group in case of emotions and personal relations ("Opinion | A
Girlfriend of My Own." Breaking News, World News & Multimedia - The New York Times
2018). Often in case where the disabled people feel lonely and seek a partner of their own they
get rejected, humiliated and judged for their disabled body our society seeks perfection, no one
believes that the disabled people can have a personal live and happiness in their life.
Another of the challenges faced by the disabled persons in the society is the context of
the passing of their disability to their children (Geman 2015). Often in cases when the pregnant

mother is undergoing the issues related to the illness of disability, the children born undergoes
the similar symptoms within the first 7 to 10 years of their birth. Furthermore marriage with a
disabled man can furthermore lead to the similar issues. I have gone through numerous of the
articles which stated how the children needed multiple transfusions and rare incompatibility of
the blood group while his legs got curved within a few months after his 7th birthday.
Conclusion
The issues and the context of the disability has become a pivotal for the modern society
and the people residing in it. This is because it tends to influence the consistency of the
development and the position of the individuals in the context of disability and lack of normal
abilities. It is thus required for the nation to initiate in the development of the poor and the
negative attitude of the people in the society to promote a better living in a better world with
happy people without any sort of discrimination.
