1. Executive Summary
Purpose of this report is guiding XYZ University for adopting Augmented Reality
systems in their teaching style. Augmented Reality is a technology in which real images are
superimposed and it is beneficial for different things, such as education, medical science,
gaming, and engineering. It started from 1901. However, it had so many issues that time. Now, it
is providing helps in different processes of many areas. This report will discuss about the role of
Augmented Reality in different fields. It is based on the XYZ University upgradation in their
teaching style. It will explain about opportunities and issues of Augmented Reality in education
field.
Augmented Reality is now having proper security for using it in different applications. It
is ethical to use for education, medical, retail and gaming. This report will conclude that AR
systems will provide benefits to XYZ University in upcoming time.
This report will explain advantages and disadvantages of Augmented Reality for XYZ
University. It will also provide recommendation for XYZ University for using of Augmented
Reality devices in thier teaching methods, which will increases enrollments numbers in their

2. Introduction
Augmented Reality (AR) is a way to make things better in understanding for different
purposes. It is computer technology, which provides different views of real things in a mobile
device. This technology enhances real view of any content in real and it uses superimposing
computer systems. These computer generated visual objects are looks same as in real time. It can
be animation, image and video. It has existed for quite some time. Many organizations and
researchers are having huge interest in the AR. It is an evolving technology in the field of
computer science. From last two decades, it is famous for animation and 3D pictures in different
areas. Augmented Reality is having different features and it can be useful for different purposes
in different areas, such as gaming, travel, medical field, tourism industry, manufacturing,
education, business, engineering and many others (Akçayır & Akçayır, 2017).
Augmented Reality is having different applications, which can be beneficial for teaching
methods. This report will explain about the Augmented Reality in different fields with the
examples. XYZ University is facing admission problem and AR will changes it with new styles
of teaching and marketing of it. It will describe about applications of Augmented Reality in the
Education industry in next sections of this report. Augmented Reality is having many advantages
as well as disadvantages in few areas. This report will explain about advantages and
disadvantages of AR in respect of XYZ University with ethics and security issues of it in the
later section.
3. Augmented Reality
Augmented Reality is beneficial for business processes as per the business experts for
customer’s attraction. Smart phones are one of best advantage for business purpose, which is
easily available and it is provide features of AR. It is a best way to install application in the
mobile phones and used it for shopping of cloths without wearing it. It provides an estimated
view for your furniture before buying it. However, it is facing so many challenges. It has skill
shortage for designing business model, according to the business leaders. Augmented Reality is
also having few issues related to ethics and security, which need to be looked into AR (Andujar,
Mejías, & Márquez, 2011).

Augmented Reality is work start from real world scene. It adds virtual objects in it and
delete real world object. It provides augmented reality of that image as shows in figure 1.
Augmented Reality is having different applications for many areas. There are few applications,
which provide benefits to those particular areas from AR (Billinghurst & Duenser, 2012).
3.1 Augmented Reality in Retails:
Different retail shops are facing few issues for selling different products, such as
furniture, cloths and many others.

Augmented Reality is providing so many benefits to the retails, such as increase store
visitors, better customer engagement, enhance print media, reduce product return rate, better UX,
customizable content, and break language barriers. It is a way to manage different things smartly.
AR is having different facilities to change attributes of the products according to customers’
requirements. Therefore, vendor can design same thing as per the customer’s requirement.
It gives a new face to market in upcoming years. Vendors are required better feedback of
customers and AR is helping them for satisfaction of customers, according to their needs. It is a
way to change thinking of customers as well as retailer for satisfaction of both parties. IKEA AR
Application is highly used in market, which is AR based application (Chi, Kang, & Wang, 2013).
3.2 Augmented Reality in Medical Field:
Medical field is having so many things, which are based on clarity of picture.

AR is providing real pictures of human body using different applications. It takes real
images and mix with the virtual images, which are more helpful for understanding the changes in
the body as well as helpful for prescriptions (Di Serio, Ibáñez, & Kloos, 2013).
AR is used for Ultrasound and it provides better result, which are beneficial for doctors.
It enhances treatment quality of patients. It helps in diagnosis of patients from doctor. Medical

science is using AR for training and education via different applications. It is helping in many
things, such as surgical procedures, human anatomy, and many others.

AR is having ability to benefit the surgery procedures. It provides vital statistics all the
time at screen for better decisions. Virtual Interactive Presence and Augmented Reality
(VIPAAR) are used for remote surgical assistance. It is a system, which provides a video support
to the doctors from a remote location.

Gaming industry is highly used this technology, such as AR air hockey, AR-enhanced pool table
game, Titans of Space, and many others. Many games were developed indoor environments.

3.4 Augmented Reality in tourism industry
Tour and tourism industries are using AR technology for their business processes. It is
beneficial for their marketing as well as it is attracting clients for tourism.
4. Augmented Reality in Education
Education system is complete package of learning and experiencing different things,
which are related to the subjects. It requires different methods to provide knowledge about
different things to students. Augmented Reality is upcoming technology, which is highly
accepted from education system for learning and teaching for students as well as teachers.

XYZ University is having sufficient resources for teaching and other things. Still, they
are facing admission problem. There enrollment numbers are decreasing from last years. AR is a

way that helps them for changing their methods of teaching as well as marketing. Technologies
are always helping for solving different issues. Augmented Reality is an innovation in this era,
which converts different methods of teaching. Students are more interested in this technology.
AR is having different applications, which are helpful for understanding the architectures and
designs of particular thing (Kesim & Ozarslan, 2012).
AR can enhance teaching methods in these ways, which are as:
1. Students can explore their class material using AR, which is useful for motivate and
engage them.
2. It provides a real experience of different things about the subject
3. AR is creating better collaboration between lecturer and students.
4. AR is helpful enhancing creativity and imagination of students
5. AR provides controls in student’s hands for their learning.
6. It is provide an authentic learning environment to students, which is suitable to many
learning styles.

are more excited for their learning through AR devices. It makes a good impact on reputation of
XYZ University in national as well as international market of education (Lee, 2012).
Mechanical engineering can use different AR applications for better understanding of
subjects and project management, such as Construct3D application as shown in figure 8. Medical
science students can use AR application and visualize different parts of human body and their
functions in three dimensions for better understanding (Martín-Gutiérrez, Fabiani, Benesova,
Meneses, & Mora, 2015).

AR is not much costly for the university. It is a onetime cost for university and it reduces
so many things, which is having high cost (Newman, 2018). Google is providing complete setup
for group of students. It provides complete system for 30 students in only $10000. For complete
campus it will take $30000 for each discipline with the application and hardware.

5. Advantages of Augmented Reality
Augmented Reality is providing numerous advantages for many areas especially in
education system. Various companies are creating AR devices and applications, which are used
by the android and iOS operating systems, which are used for educating. Students will more
satisfy with the AR devices for their learning.
AR is providing many benefits to the Education system, as it is providing superimposed
images of models, which can check by students at their end. Online shopping is using this
technology. As an example, furniture dimensions are creating many problems, when clients
purchase them. AR applications are providing results for the size based on the actual
environment. It is having a huge uses in the field of medical science education, such as anatomy.
There is much equipment in the medical science, which required such type of technology for
providing better care of patients in their treatment (Wu, Lee, Chang, & Liang, 2013).
Education system is having different disciplines and new technologies are extending it.
As an example, game programming is huge scope in upcoming time. Gaming field is growing
with the AR technology; vendors are creating new games, which are providing reality in virtual
world. Users are enjoying this technology very much. Few games are completely based on the
AR technology, such as AR based hockey. Travel and tourism are uses AR technologies for
routes and directions to their desirable destinations. It is providing extra information about the
museums and sightseeing. AR is creating new culture of tourism in upcoming years.
AR is about to revolutionize the mobile user enjoy as did gesture and contact in cell
phones in their applications. This could redefine the mobile consumer revel in for the following
technology making mobile search invisible and reduce search attempt for consumers. It is
providing a new face to mobile devices. AR, like multi-modal interplay has long records of
usability studies, evaluation and experimentation. Therefore, it has solid records as an interface
approach with gesture enable systems. AR improves smartphones usability through appearing as
the interface itself. It is requiring little interaction, which is called direct manipulation. Users can
imagine turning on their telephone in which the space, human beings, objects around you are
“sensed” via your mobile device. It is giving you place based totally or context touchy statistics
at smartphones.

6. Disadvantages of Augmented Reality
Augmented Reality is also having few disadvantages, as every technology is having
advantages with few disadvantages. In case of Education industries, students are less social in
their life. Students are stick with these devices and ignore other ways of learning. Latest
hardware is facing problems in the working of AR applications as well as operating system of
smartphones. Content might also obscure or slender a customer’s pastimes or tastes, which is
beneficial for retails as well as clients. Privacy control turns into a larger difficulty than with
nowadays facts saturation degrees. Taking walks as much as a stranger or a set of human beings
might screen fame, mind (Tweets), or different information that typically comes with an
introduction. It may motive unwarranted breaches of privacy in education system. Ethics and
security issues are always there with all the innovations. However, they are properly used for a
specific purpose for which they are designed. Technology is creating devices and all are tested
from the vendor side, still there are few risks with these devices in education industry.
All innovations are having their risk in few aspects. AR is dangerous in few cases, such
as Pokémon GO. It will make persons overconfident, which is risky for their life. Pokémon GO
is a game, which is playing while driving vehicle. It has bad results, many death and casualties
were happened because of Pokémon GO.
7. Conclusion
It is concluded that AR technology is providing many advantages in various fields. It
provides help to understand different things in better way using superimposing real time objects
through computer technologies. AR is providing better visualization with extra information of
different things. It is useful in many areas for their marketing and business processes, such as the
retail, travel and tourism industry, engineering, manufacturing to the medical field, gaming,
education among many others.
The retail is having so many advantages from the AR applications, such as furniture,
clothing, and many others. Medical science is uses different technologies for surgical work and
AR is helping them for better results. Gaming industry is highly used AR concept for generation
of new games. Many games are running in the market, which are based on AR. Tourism Industry
is providing virtual tour of different places to their clients, which makes their business high.

8. Recommendation
These are few recommendations for XYZ University to improve their teaching methods,
which is beneficial for motivating students for their learning.
Develop an AR technology for teaching, which will provide motivation to their
students.
Establish AR technology. Hence, university can easily purchase AR-devices in bulk
for their students.
Design faculty development program considering students satisfaction factor.
Provide training programs for AR devices. They are fully ethical and secure for
students, as vendors test tested them properly before using it.
Establish a centralized system for technologies for teachers and students. XYZ
University should adopt those AR technologies, which are authentic and secure.
Provide technical support using AR technology, which can change satisfaction ratio
of students through changes in teaching methods.
Provide proper management of AR technology in university allow increasing system
efficiency and business.
