2AUGMENTED REALITY AND VIRTUAL REALITY
1. Introduction
1.1 Background Research Review on Future IT Trend of AR and VR
The origin of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) was initiated in 1838.
Since from the inception, the future of the technology within this sector increased at a rapid pace.
With the advent of computing technologies and graphics, the use of VR and AR have
experienced a revitalization in the field of future computing technologies (Gavish et al. 2015).
1.2 Future IT Trends of AR and VR
Based on the tremendous growth of technologies, it has been predicted that there would
be a tremendous form of rise in the growth of AR and VR technologies. Different business
stakeholders would invest in these form of potential technologies for the successful
implementation of their business strategies.

1.3 Evolution of AR and VR
The evolution of AR and VR technologies initiated in 1835 with the invention of a
stereoscope, which could be worn on the face. It consisted of lenses and produced duplicate
images. This would provide the user with an illusion as if the user would be transported into
another dimension of space (The Telegraph 2018).

1.4 Application of the AR and VR in the Future
The use of AR and VR based technologies could help in the making of 3D computer
interfaces. These technologies could also be useful for equipping “head-up” displays. They
would be helpful for projecting GPS routes, speed of cars and any other information on the
windshield of the car. They would also be used for making 3D markers, monitor over the local
weather and gain control over music player.
