Report
AI Summary
This report analyzes the impact of rising sea levels on Australia's beaches and tourism industry. It highlights the financial risks, including potential losses of billions of dollars and millions of jobs, due to climate change and the destruction of tourist attractions like the Great Barrier Reef. The report discusses the role of global warming, human activities such as deforestation and burning of fossil fuels, and the predictions for the future, emphasizing the need for effective communication and proactive measures, such as constructing higher runways for airports, to mitigate the effects of rising sea levels and protect coastal regions. The author cites multiple sources to support the findings and stresses the importance of considering these factors for the safety of Australian tourist destinations.

Summary
The key points connected to the rising sea levels which threaten the beaches in Australia
are discussed broadly. Climate change may impact Australia’s tourism industry in various ways.
Australia is a well-known lucrative nation where significant tourist attractions are subject to
destruction by the changes in climate. For this reason, billions of dollars and millions of jobs in
Australia may as well be ruined. Australia’s beaches, national parks, reserves, and other tourist
attractions could be ruined based on the predictions of the Australian Climate Council. The
reports show that the tourist's destinations which include the Great Reef, as well as the
wilderness which accounts for Australia’s top attractions, are at risk of climate change (Carson,
Köhl, Stammer, Slangen, Katsman, Van de Wal, Church and White, 2016 p.270). Climate
change in Australia includes the rising sea level, extensive coral bleaching, and the extreme heat
waves which cause the tourist's attractions appear less attractive. Therefore, as the reports
indicate, this paper focuses on the rising sea levels which threaten the beaches in Australia.
Author’s Discussions
Nicholls and Cazenave, 2010 p.1518 indicates that around 200 billion dollars in Australia
may be incurred in Australia due to the rising sea levels. Also, Carson et al, 2016 p.271 reports
show that the South East corner of Queensland, Victorian Coast, and Sydney are the significant
regions in Australia which are at risk of the rising sea levels. It is evident that 75% of the people
in Australia live in the coastal region which is prone to the rising sea levels (Eco-Business. (n.d.).
Moreover, most of the Australian rails, roads, airports, port facilities, and others are located
along the coastal regions. Also, rising sea levels should be a factor to consider when constructing
the new runways for Brisbane’s airport in Australia. Most investors who seek advice from

experts of sea levels are advised to establish higher runways to avoid destructions of the rising of
sea levels which threaten beaches. In case the rising of the sea levels is ignored in Australia, by
2050 reports predicts that the global impacts will cost Australia a large amount of money ("Sea
level rises will cost Australia billions: report," 2014). In addition, it is clear that global warming
is the main cause of rising sea levels in Australia. Global warming occurs due to human activities
such as deforestation, oil, and charcoal burning hence causes climate change.
What I Learned
I have learned that global warming causes the rising sea levels which affect the sea levels
in Australia. The rising of sea level threatens the beaches which are significant tourist
destinations in Australia putting at risk 200 billion dollars of the investments. Based on the
findings, if only Australia avoids human activities such as deforestation, oil, and coal burning
then the issue of global warming may be addressed. Therefore, there should be effective
communications to all investors to ensure runways are higher to avoid being ruined by the rising
sea levels. From using various types of sources, I have learned that many researchers focus on
the issue of rising sea levels to understand and ensure safety to the Australian tourist
destinations.
