Executive summary
Australia is a developed island country and the workforce of Australia is also advanced.
The unemployment rate of Australia is very less when compared to the other countries of the
world. The unemployment rate of Australia is only 6 %. The casual workers and the part time
worker have increased several folds in the economy of Australia. The females constitute the
higher quantities as the part time workers in the workforce of Australia. The technological
improvement in the economy of Australia has reduces the demand for the work force in the
economy of Australia. The artificial intelligence has been a strong and powerful technology that
has been introduced in Australia. Moreover, the globalization though has led to the
improvements in the economy of Australia but still it has also led to some of the disadvantages
also.
Composition of the Australian workforce
According to the international labour organization the employed people are those who
has a working age and who during a period is engaged in any activity that may help in the
production of goods or provide services for profit or pay (Joyce, et. al., 2010). This may include
people with full time employment and also people with part time employment. Less than half of
the workforce of Australia is now full time employed with entitlement. Around 46 % of the
workforce is fully employed with entitlements. 5 % of the people are full time casual workers
and 27 % of the people are involved in part time jobs. Around 6 % of the people are self
employed with employees working under them and around 10 % of the people are self employed
who are working by themselves (ABC News, 2017). Only 6 % of the population is unemployed.

Rise of part-time and casual work
There is no fixed definition of the casual workers or casual employees in Australia. The
casual workers can be termed to the employees without leave entitlements. It has been seen that

the number of casual workers has increased in Australia within the two decades from 1998 to
2018. It has been shown that the casual workers have increased from 1.7 million in august 1998
to 2.6 million people in February 2018 (Economics Research, 2018). Casual workers may
sometimes be confused with the part time workers. Part time works are referred to the workers
who work only for number of hours. The proportion of the part time workers has also increased
since 1980 in Australia. Part time workers also has a strong gender element in Australia. More
women work as the part time workers in Australia than men in Australia. Women constitute 46.3
% of the workforce whereas the men constitute of 45 % of the workforce (Preston & Yu, 2015).

Technology in the Workplace
The technologies have improved a lot in the workplace of Australia. It has been predicted
that the workforce of Australia in the future will be much more mobile than before. In today’s
world the employers are hiring technologies much more because they have realized that that the
economic impact is leading to the shortages of the labours in Australia (De Stefano, 2015). It has
also been seen that some of the organizations of Australia hire small amount of labours because

Impact of recycling
The recycling sector of Australia is a very important aspect for the economy and the
society of Australia. The recycling sector of Australia consists of all the organizations that are
involved in the collection, transfer, sorting and the processing of the materials that can be used in
the place of raw materials for the manufacture of the similar non-waste products (The Net
Balance, 2011). But the recycling is not just restricted to the companies who are directly
involved in the process of recycling. There are several companies that contributes a lot in the
sector of recycling. The sector of recycling is very important because it provides inputs and
resources to a certain range of industries without depleting the natural resources (Robertson, et.
al., 2012). There are several environmental benefits also that can be extracted from the recycling.
This may include saving of the energy, saving of the water, avoidance of the waste and decrease
in the emission of the greenhouse gases (Gunson, Klein, Veiga & Dunbar, 2012).

Effect of globalization
Almost all the countries of the world have faced the impact of globalization and Australia
is not an exception in this case. Globalization has increased the free movement of technology,
labour, products, trade and also finance. The economic impact of globalization on Australia are
intermediate. The natural resources of Australia get sold in the market of people of almost 6.5
billion people. the most important products that are exported from Australia are coal, uranium,
iron, beef, wool and rice and it makes up around 50 % of the total exports of Australia. It has
been seen that the exports of Australia have risen to over 32 % in the last few hours (Moodie, et.
al., 2013). But still there has been some negative impacts on Australia due to the globalization. It
was predicted that the manufacturing of car in Australia was decreasing and it was also predicted
that 3000 jobs may be lost due to this.

Conclusion
Overall the economy of Australia is very improved and advanced. More than half of the
people in Australia are employed with only 6 % people being unemployed. Many people are
involved as the part time workers and the casual workers. The recycling of the products has also
led to decrease in the waste and the water management in Australia. Recycling is not just an
industry but the recycled products may come from different sectors such as manufacturing. The
process of recycling helps in the saving of the non-renewable energy also.
