1. Abstract
Changes in the climate can be due to various factors and be caused by various human and natural
activities. With the changes in the climate, there is a sudden drop and increment in the
temperatures which can lead to various changes that may occur on Earth. There can be instances
of climate changes which can cause various activities such as fold, drought, heavy rainfall etc.

there are various identified changes of climate which have impacted glaciers, ocean levels, the
acidity of ocean water and much more. All of these changes are to be occurred in future decades
if the current issues are persistent. These changes are likely to present challenges to the
environment and the society (Klein, 2015).
The research report that has been provided below, the author has paid emphasis on the climatic
changes that are experienced by Australian continent and what are the impacts of the same. The
report will provide reader with some useful insights on the issue by the means of a case study
which will discuss the history, the present situation and future consequences of the problem. In
order to gather the required information, the author has used the method of secondary collection
of data. The report will also provide recommendations which will help in the eradication of the
problem up to a major extent (Amelung & Nicholls, 2014).
.
2. Introduction
Climate changes have always been a big issue for the global economy and especially for
Australia. From the various sources, it has been researched that the issue began in the starting of
the 21st century has been persistent since then. According to the report of CSIRO, published in
2013, the region is constantly becoming hotter due to which the continent may have to deal with
a serious issue such as longer fire seasons, extreme heat. There has been witnessed a significant

rise in the temperature due to which not only sea level is rising at a rapid pace, but also affecting
the sea life near the region.
3. Method
There are various methods that can be used by a researcher in order to gain information. To
present the information in this research report, the author has used the qualitative method of data
collection for which various published journals, books, articles have been used the usage of
quantitative data is only limited to the data that has been presented in these qualitative sources.

4. Case study
4.1 Historical background on the issue
It has already been specified that the issue of climate changes in the industry has affected
Australia and that too in a negative manner and the continent has experienced the rise of nearly
10C temperature annually. This has resulted in the rise of ocean temperature by double the rate in
last 50 years. Recent issues in the climatic changes in the region have attracted the attention of
the public and the government in which high temperatures and drought that struck country has
played a major role. The impacts of these issues are not only devastating but are long term too.
The rainfall in the country has significantly decreased by around 10-20% which has become a
serious matter of concern. Even in south eastern Australia, there is an identified decrement in the
rainfall level since 1990’s. This has also altered the rainfall pattern of the country as now the rain
has become frequent and heavier. The major contribution in this is of population explosion due
to which, the water sources have significantly depleted. The prolonged drought that struck the
country in 1990’s is the impact of the same. Another reason that has played a significant part in
this is of the high amount of greenhouse emission which has increased the effects of global
warming in the region (Perner et. al., 2018).

4.2 Current state of the problem
The major impact of the problem of climate change that is being suffered by the Australian
continent is seen on the natural environment and the habitat of the country. These changes are in
direct association with the increment in the severity and the number of heat waves. Apart from it,
the major impact of these changes is seen on the distribution and growth of plants, animals and
insects. Apart from the terrestrial biodiversity, the climatic changes have also impacted the
marine diversity and there has been an identified increment in the acidity of seawater near the
continent due to which the sea creatures, as well as coral reef, is depleting. The impact of this
can also be measured in the economic terms as because of decline in the availability of seawater
species, the marine industry of the nation has been badly affected because of which commercial
fishing has decreased in significant levels. These current changes are expected to intensify in the
future which is not a good sign for the people living on the continent. With increment in
temperature, the bacteria’s have also become active which is the major cause of spreading
diseases in the country (Bellard et. al., 2016).

4.3 Future consequences
The human society all around the world is now globally interconnected due to which the
population is dependent on a limited number of resources and intricate chains of supply. By the
year 2050, the global population is expected to rise by 9.6 billion which will further increase the
need for resources that are required to satisfy the human population. In case of the Australian
geographical area, the resources are depleting at a rapid pace which can cause issues such as
economic malfunctions, natural problems such as drought, flood, heavy rainfall etc.
Various events will take place outside the continent too such as a rise in sea levels ad extreme
event that may threat the coastal zones, change in the global food production and patterns of
trading which can change the face of export and import industry in a negative way. This can also
change and exacerbate the security and humanitarian issues which can increase the demands of
resettlement, disaster relief and aid (He et. al., 2015).

5. Conclusion
Thus, from the discussion presented above it can be concluded that the problem of climate
change is severe in Australia. There are various issues which are currently being faced by the
nation. In order to ensure sustainable development of the economy, it is essential that the
government and authority should collaborate their efforts and take necessary measures.

6. Recommendations
In order to effectively deal with the issue of climatic changes in Australia, it is required that the
government should take legal and necessary actions in order to stop the usage of commodities
which produce harmful gases. In this process, the engagement of the community of country is
also required. It is essential the government and the community should spread the education
regarding harmful effects of the climatic changes that are taking place in the country which will
assist in ruling out the activities that may harm the environment. The government of the country
should also impose the ban on harmful products and commodities which emit harmful gases such
as the use of aerosol essays should be discouraged, reduce the use of CFC as a coolant. It has
also been recommended to plant as many trees as possible which can be done by limiting the
infrastructural development in the country (Fita et. al., 2017).
