The way in which Western or mainstream systems and structures can be perceived by
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people have impacted their engagements with current
services. There are number of bodies and organizations have developed to provide support to

Aboriginal communities. They can take the help of these bodies to establish considerable
connections with modern communities. These systems and service delivery organizations have
proved to be sufficiently supportive for Aboriginal and indigenous community (Hutchings, Bodle
and Miller, 2018). Community service centers have been developed to deliver desired health
care, educational and other related facilities to the community. They were extremely unsupported
in terms of all sensitive fields of services that have impacted their perception regarding western
and mainstream strictures. They are so much ignored and discriminated that they decided to form
their own set of beliefs, residing areas, its logo or flag which established their significant
identity. Along with Aboriginaal community, the Torres Strait Islander also were on the
equivalent stage or conditions.
Due to past instances and issues, the mainstream systems of country are not sufficiently
utilized by Aboriginal society. A level of mistrust has developed among people that has made
them feel unsupported and outsiders. After such issues, governmental policies are now
continuously upgrading their systems and regulations to support these people (Hutchings, Bodle
and Miller, 2018). A National Inquiry report by commonwealth parliament was developed to
bring separated Aboriginal children back to their homes.
These conditions and issues are still affecting and restricting them communicate and
engage with western culture. There are certain ways through which they are continuously trying
to indulge themselves with Australian mainstream systems. Even various committees have been
formed to regulate and promote these communities by formation of suitable programs and
organizations (Lindstedt and et.al., 2017). Aboriginal cultural protocols and practice policies
have been designed by significant departments to lay emphasis on their lifestyle and to easily
accept their culture as well.
