Australia and its support to the USA
Australia is considered to be one of the best allies of the United States. The countries
maintain a great amount of solidarity among themselves which cultural affinities, common
interests and democratic values that are shared by the countries. The Australian government is
observed to have been extending their unconditional moral support to the American government
in order to deal with Chinese territorial claims (Wesley 2017). The maintenance of the alliance
towards the United States would further help Australia to secure help in order to hold on to their
place in the Asian markets.
Part 2: Academic Reading Analysis
Tow (2017) in the article entitled “President Trump and the Implications for the
Australia–US Alliance and Australia's Role in Southeast Asia” sheds light on the increasing
complexity of the place held by Australia in the markets of Asia. The authors tend to highlight
the fact that the decline of the unquestionable nature of the security guarantee provided by the
governmental bodies of the America leads to the deterioration of the place held by the Australian
authorities in the Asian markets. The decline has posed a greater issue for the Australian
government in terms of the choice between security and trade relations. This is due to the fact
that the major trade partner of the Australia refers to the Chinese markets.
Part 3: Media Analysis
Smialek (2019) in the news article entitled “Trump’s Trade War Washes Up on
Australia’s Shore” highlights the effects as have been observed within the Australian economy
due to the trade war as have been undertaken by Donald Trump against the Chinese. The central

argument of the article highlights the fact that Australia is facing issues in the economic factors
as are presented within the country due to the trade war that is taking place between China and
America. This issue is important due to the fact that the trade war between America and China
has been crucially affecting the Australian economy.
