MBA Assignment 1
“Australian Food Export Market”
CISRO is a Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation that is an
independent agency of Australian Federal Government. The organization is placed in Australia
and works to improve the social and economic performance of the industry for the benefit of the
community. The organization has focused its research into various groups like food and
agriculture, land and water, health and biosecurity, mineral resources, Data61, ocean and
atmosphere, energy and manufacturing. Along with this, the organization also provides various
services like education, testing etc. in the Australian industry (Lim-Camacho, et. al., 2017).
Further, the focus of this essay to highlight the ways with which CSIRO would be able to
successfully increase food export from Australia.
CSIRO Futures is a segment of the organization that provides strategic advice to the Australia’s
National Science Agency. The Australian food and agriculture industry showed increment after a
long time in the year 2017-18. However, the growth was around 0.4% that was equal to $50
billion only. China is biggest export market for Australia where the company grew its export by
$1.65 billion (Ulubasoglu, et. al., 2016). Australia has rich history in the food and agriculture
sector that enhances better opportunities for the country to change its image from Asia’s food
bowl into a better growth oriented, high-quality food production country (Hogan 2017).
Further, CSIRO can help the government of Australia to increase the quantity of export and
provide value to the products by initially targeting small and under developed nations residing
nearby. This will help the country to promote its name in the neighbouring countries. Further, in
order to add values in the food export market, the government should form a department to check
the food quality of the product that they export in the market. This department should form
various standards for each and every product that they offer in the market, then the officials
should inspect the product according to those standards (Annison 2017). Further, with employing
a department, CSIRO would be able to monitor the growth in food quality and export quantity as
well. The country can also increase the food export market by reducing the pricing of their
products or by reducing the value of taxes when exporting first time to any nation. This will
provide reasonable price to the nations importing food from Australia.

Furthermore, talking about the role of marketing systems in the food quality and quantity, it
should be noted that in the monopolistic competition and oligopoly market structure helps the
country in influencing is export in food and agriculture sector. For instance, in case of
monopolistic market, the country can export its product using the competitive feature present in
their product (Dhingra, and Morrow 2019). Under this type of market, all the suppliers have their
own differential characteristics that makes them different from others, due to this feature
Australia can increase export in the worldwide market base. Secondly, talking about the
oligopoly market, it should be noted that, the country should tie-up with various other countries
and export the food product in which the country has owned specialization. For instance, any
country present in the group has differential environmental features to grow apple, then the
country should sell apple as their major product in the international market base (Ara, and Ghosh
2017).
