The world is full of people who are suffering from various kinds of diseases, pains and
sufferings. But there are lot of ways we can work together in order to overcome it. The non profit
organizations in Australia were developed and established to work for the betterment for the
general public especially those who are isolated in the society and are forgotten in the family.
The aim of the nonprofit organizations in Australia are known to raise the awareness among the
citizens to come forward and join hands with the organizations and contribute few resources
which will help them to achieve the goals and aims of the nonprofit organizations (ReyesGarcía
et al., 2019).
The aim of the paper is to identify a non profit organization in Australia and identify its
management, members working with the organization. It will also showcase how the
organization works in the country with the people. It will also identify the threats which are
faced by the organizations and how the management of the organization can take care of the
problems in order to maintain the progress in their work.
Australian Himalayan Foundation – Company Overview
The Australian Himalayan Foundation is a nonprofit making organization which is
dedicated in helping the people of the country to achieve their goals and aims through a proper
means of education, environmentally sustainable projects and environment. The organization is
known for working with various partnership companies and people of the Himalayas to improve
the education, conservation of people in Nepal and Bhutan and also taking care of their health.
The company was founded by Richard C.Blum in the year 2002. Later on Sir Edmund Hillary
was appointed as the director of the foundation (Williams, 2019).

Management and members of Australian Himalayan Foundation
The members of the company include the present CEO Angela Ford, who is known to
have experience in different work field. She follows transformational leadership, which helps her
in maintaining the members of the organization. Tshering Lama O'gorman is the head of the
programs and project manager who is known for dealing different kinds of projects. She has a
work experience of more than 15 years in Nepal, Bhutan, India and UK (Bian et al., 2019).
Karen Locke was the head of funding and communication. She is a passionate worker and social
innovator who is committed to lead the company in achieving the end goals of the organization.
The top managerial department includes the Board Of Directors of the organization which
mainly includes Simon Balderson, Greg Mortimer and Peter Hillary. They work untidily in order
to help the people in the rural areas of Nepal and Bhutan. Their main motto is to improve the
living standards of the people who are living in the rural areas. The members of the managerial
department are aimed at providing the people with better education system and training. They are
also looking forward in improving the health care and services of the people and environmental
sustainability.
Management Strategies
Dr.Bruce Tuckman has published the Tuckman theory of Forming Storming Norming
and Performing model of team development which is followed by the Himalayan Foundation in
explanation of the team development and team behavior. With the help of the theory the
management of the organization has been able to meet its strategies implemented by the
company. The four stages of measuring the work in progress of the various teams working in the
company are forming, storming, norming and performing. In the first step of Forming the team is

formed under the guidance and direction of the leader. In the Storming part the team members
are given much attention which their position and they receive challenges from the other team
members. In the Norrming part the rules and responsibilities are made clear. However in the
Performing part the members are judged according to their performance.
How the Australian Himalayan Foundation is working
The organization is aimed at providing the basic help and care services to the people of Nepal
and Bhutan. The organization provides Health services, Educational Services and Environmental
Services.
Health services – The organization provides the people of Himalayan with the access to
basic and vital health services which focus to serve the girl and women. The health care
programs are determined to serve the child, girls, women and men mixinf both the
modern and traditional styles of health care. This will ensure that the people are gaining a
trust over the company. The organization is also launching new programs in supporting
the women to give birth safely and supporting them with medicinal care. In order to
improve the health care system the organization has come up with various other projects
like Solukumbhu which deals with the nurses in Nepal, they are trained and provided
with support with equipments and medicines which they lack. The local health care
worker are also trained to care of the primary, maternal and child care emergencies. The
Zanskar Primary health care project which undertakes to improve the living condition of
the most remote and oldest village of the Himalayas which is the Zanskar village (Tali,
Nawchoo & Ganie 2019).

Educational Services – The key challenge of the organization is to build more schools
and also improving the quality of the education which is provided to them. The
organization thinks that if the educational system of the area is lifted, can help the people
in lifting out of the poverty lines. The training project of the girls and helping them by
providing educational support are the main motto of the organization. In order to improve
the educational system of the people who live in the rural areas the organization has
trained more than 2000 teachers’ also providing furniture, teaching equipments, and other
classroom resources which are required in proving the children a proper education.
According to Navalgund & Nandy (2019) the organization has provided education to
more than 42,000 children over 300 schools.
Environmental Services – The organization has imposed latest projects which will take
care to improve the environmental outcomes and also see that the rural people are able to
adapt the change in climate and wildlife of the Himalayas. Through the partnership with
the local people and support communities of the wildlife conservation the organization
has successfully taken care of the rural people and wildlife. Through the integration with
the existing educational programs which are held in the schools. The organization
provides special programs which supports the awareness of the environment for the local
and rural people and school children. The Snow Leopard project aims to conserve the last
2600 snow leopards left in the part of Ladakh and Himalayas (Grodin, Crosby & Annas
2019). The organization has successfully constructed parks which consist of the snow
leopards. This aims at saving the death of the snow leopards from the hands of the
farmers. This program does not only support the local conservation of the people and
snow leopards but also promotes the sustainability of the livelihoods and spreads the

awareness of environment conservation. The organization has also provided many
projects which are dedicated in supporting the community based response system to the
natural disasters which takes place in all the parts of the countries. They are also known
as working with the climatic change adaptation of the old and young people who belong
to the rural areas of the Himalayas (Rasul, 2019)
Conclusion
In order to conclude the above paper it can be said that the organization is working very hard
to obtain a competitive advantage over the other organizations. The Australian Himalayan
Foundation has numerous teams and managerial heads who are dedicated in working with the
organization to help the organization attain its aims and motto. The board of directors and the top
management of the organization believe in transformational leadership which helps them in
gathering the members working with the organization to stick to them. The company is able to
see the up gradation of the basic needs of the rural people of Himalayas which includes the
health, education and environmental needs.
