The research investigates the increasing housing costs and their impact on Australians, focusing on the implementation and effectiveness of various government policies. The study poses research questions regarding housing affordability ratios and the impact of government policies, with a hypothesis suggesting increased affordability. The methodology involves secondary quantitative research, utilizing data from the 'Australia Social ATLAS' and analyzing it with SPSS statistical software. The report defines operational measurements, including residual and ratio measurements, and discusses the strengths and limitations of the research, such as the use of secondary data and potential biases. Student Name: Student Number: Course:
Research Focus
Housing is one of the fundamental right for every individuals as well as basic
need for the healthy well- being.
It has been widely reported in the recent studies housing cost has been
increased rapidly in the recent years that the cost of housing in Australia
have been increased (Little Real Estate 2019).
In the last decade Australian housing sector has seen an increment in the
housing unaffordability among the Australians..
Hence, there is an urgent need to determine how this unaffordability has
affected the Australians and the housing affordability of the Australians.
To address this growing issue. Australian government has implemented
various housing policies to increase the housing affordability among the
Australians (Scutt 2019).
Therefore, the purpose of this research investigation is to critically evaluate
the governmental policies meant for Housing Affordability for the people in
Australia.
Research Question and
Hypothesis
The research questions for this investigations has been provided below.
RQ1 : What is the housing affordability ratio among the people of Australia.?
RQ2 : How does the government policies impact the people with the regard
of housing affordability?
Research Hypothesis: Housing affordability has been increased among the
people of Australia in recent times .
Operational Definition
In relation to the operationalization, two measurement factors will be
considered in this regard. Theses to factors are Residual measurement and
Ratio measurement.
Residual measurement: This will be focused on the ability to sustain the
acceptable standard of living after the housing costs (Aph.gov.au 2019).
Ratio measurement: This measurement will be focused on the inter relation
between the household income and housing expenditure. Either of them will
be considered as mean or median (Aph.gov.au 2019).
Procedure
Methods
To address the research question above, Secondary Quantitative Method will be
implemented for this research investigation (Johnston 2017).
Due to the huge size of the population group primary research will not be feasible
within the boundaries of this project, hence Secondary Research method will be
adopted (Johnston 2017).
Data for the secondary research will be collected from the ‘Australia Social
ATLAS’.
Quantitative method will be implemented so that the Residual measurement and
Ratio measurement can be calculated.
Target population age group will be 18 years old to 60 years old. This is prime age
group where an individual primarily earns, hence these age group has been chosen.
Target population group will lower to lower middle income group. This income are
far more likely suffer housing unaffordability, hence, this income group has been
chosen.
Collected data will be analyzed with SPSS statistical software (MacInnes 2016).

Strengths:
The strength of this investigation is that the all the population of Australia will
be considered in this research investigation.
The data will be collected from the Australia Social ATLAS’, hence the
collected data will be authentic.
Quantitative measurement will be considered for this research, hence, there
will be no bias in the interpretation of the data (Choy 2014).
Limitations:
No primary research will be conducted for this assignment and only secondary
research will be conducted for this investigation. Hence, this is one of the
significant drawback or limitation of the research.
In addition to that, there might be chance for bias in the collected data and it
cannot be avoided as the data that will be used are collected by another
organisation.
This probability of presence of bias in the collected data is one of the limitation
of this research investigation (Choy 2014).
