Achieving energy security in Australian manufacturing is considered a serious concern in
developing the solutions of sustainability in energy sector. Australia is considered a leading
economy of world. The country is using the ways through which energy can be saved for the
future course of time. The Australian Manufacturing is found to be strongly supporting the
NEG (National Energy Guarantee). The different committees have been formed by the
government authorities so that the stability can be maintained in the country. The country is
found to be the greatest exporter of the energy globally, which makes the country superior
from others. From this, other countries become dependent on Australia to get their energy
resources. The sustainable growth achieved by the Australian economy is finding to be high
as compared to other countries and their economy (Melbourne Energy Institute, 2015).
This sustainable development in the economy bring the high productivity, economic growth,
strong environmental record provide the constant growth and prosperity for the nation. In
this, the energy sector plays an important role in the success of Australia development.
Australia is considered the country, which is a low-cost energy consuming country and has
the large industrial span in the country. Australia exports more than $24 billion energy in a
year. This is the reason that the industries like aluminum, steel cement are flourishing in the
market of Australia. The energy sector in Australia plays a pivotal role in the market’s it
provides the employment to more than 120000 peoples in the country and supporting many
communities and organization (Sovacool and Brown, 2010).
Achieving the energy security in Australian manufacturing has its own importance in
Australia. It is important to secure the energy sector in Australia to preserve and protect the
resources for the future use. Another importance of securing the security in the energy sector
is to make the high exports in other countries. The main aim of the essay is to find the energy
security issues involved in the Australian manufacturing sector. These issues have been
analyzed in the essay. In short, these issues cover the size of the population of the Australia,

dynamic environment and the geographical location of the country. All these factors make the
problem in managing the security issues for energy sector (Strengers and Nicholls, 2017).
Achieve the energy security in the manufacturing by Australia has been an important role in
the energy sector market. Australia is spending a high amount on energy production, which is
around $50 billion. To have the proper regulation in the market of the energy sector, the
separate department has been formed. From the research, it has been analyzed that in last 30
years, total primary energy use in Australia has been growing by 2.6 per cent per year as
compared to the economic growth of 3.2 per cent per year (Australian Government, 2018).
The security in the energy sector can be defined as the adequate, reliable and competitive
supply of the energy across the electricity, gas and other liquid fuel sectors. In this, the
adequacy is the provision to provide the sufficient energy to support the economic and social
activity of the country. these measures have been taken to ensure that the use of the natural
resources should be done effectively and efficiently.
The primary use of the energy use has to be done in the energy-related greenhouse emissions.
This offers the basis for analyzing the energy inputs and outputs used in the country with
efficiency. These resources are utilised with less wastage of resources. Major energy sources
in Australia are black coal, natural gas, oil and renewables. These renewable sources of
energy provide the five present of the total supply in the market. Use of natural gas and
renewable resources are for the electricity production that will grow significantly country like
Australia (Sinha, 2013).
From the figure below, it can be analyzed that the energy inputs can be used previously will
be increased in the near future. In the year 2000, the energy consumption is found to be low
as compared to the year 2020. The consumption has been increased to a large share
(Australian Government, 2018).

In the year 2017, there are many problems have been faced by the Australian energy sector.
The use of outdated technology in the sector leads to the downfall in the production of
energy. At this point in time, the threat has been analyzed from the fossil fuel exports from
the global forces. The objectives of the Australian energy sector has been cleared which focus
on the reliability, affordability and low carbon energy services given to the households and
business. This will able to build the sustainable energy export sector. The Australian business
is calling for the change in the energy and climate change policy in the country (Sen and
Ganguly, 2017).
These changes in the policies will bring the consistency in the market of energy for a period.
The renewable source of energy provides the new step in forwarding the energy sector in
Australia by introducing the National Energy productivity plan in the implementation.
However, to start this institution CAFG has given only funded with Australian dollar 18
million and has found with the vague and poor governance. This institution is aiming to
reduce the emission of carbon by 2030. The Australian Association for energy Productivity

and Climate works have published major reports on doubling the productivity of energy by
2030. This can be done by using the innovations in the energy sector. The innovation can be
done by using the Research and development department of Australia (Manufacturing
Australia, 2018).
Improving the energy sector and its productivity can only be done while reviewing the
climatic condition done the country. This will show a significant part in reshaping the
forthcoming year of the energy sector in Australia. This will require the strong leadership,
supervision, motivational strong, change in culture and policy intervention in the country.
The focus is given to the developing the energy sector in Australia while marinating the
sustainability in the country (Shaikh et al., 2017).
The Australian government tries to achieve the sustainability in the energy sector but by
achieving the prices under control. The high price charged in the energy sector ruined the
market conditions and hamper the economic growth. This is the reason the energy should be
provided at the low cost in the market. For example, recently New Zealand has tried to make
the conversion of natural gas to the liquid fuels, which has led to the uneconomic depletion of
the natural valuable resources. This can be work as the harmful for the country and its natural
resources (Australian Government, 2018).
Another example can be taken from the California energy sector. There are recent changes
has been analyzed in the California energy sector market in which due to the changes in the
policy in the country hampers the growth of the energy sector in the country. The policies
made in the environment of California are effectively preventing the retail business from
concerning the escalating cost while demand in the country has been increasing (Amer and
Daim, 2010).

Another example has also been finding out in the Australia market about the energy sources
in the country. Accessing energy resources is the main determinant of energy security. No
doubt, that Australia has a large number of natural resources in their economy. But the
concern is in regard to the lack of domestic resources have driven the many nation and
countries to employ and exploit the expensive security policies which made the prices high
and will add on to the international competitiveness (The University of Queensland, 2018).
Another security issue in the energy sector in Australia is the population size and
geographical area. Distribution of the energy resources in such a large and diversified area of
Australia makes the infrastructure expensive in the country. This will lead to the effects the
economic growth and development in the country. The government is trying to develop the
situation by developing the ways through which the ways can be improved to provide the
energy resources in the country. The concept of a low-cost service provider has been given to
Australia and its respective department of the energy sector (Byrnes, Brown, Foster and
Wagner, 2013).
This can able to protect the interest of the customer and the economy for the long term. This
will also bring the reliability and stability to the economic condition of the Australian energy
sector (Azzi, Duc and Ha, 2015).In the market of Australia, there has been a potential to
switch from gas to electricity and renewable fuel in the economy. The storage of regional gas
can reduce the demand in the peak for the gas and can able to reduce the price hikes in the
country. This will able to bring the measurable changes in the country like Australia and
affect the economic development (Institutions of Engineers Australia, 2018).
From the analysis, it has been identified that Australia is found well endowed with the
energy. The country can able to manage the low cost and competitive price in the market. The
investment in the energy sector the private and public entrepreneurs find to be the long

lasting and for the long term of period. The returns that the entrepreneurs will get are in long-
term (Lai et al., 2017). From this, the government can also able to earn huge profits from the
taxes and the profits received by them. This makes it helping to develop the country and its
economy. Due to the high production in the country makes the export [possible to other
countries that make the energy-intensive products. Australia is considered the largest
producer of coal globally due to the rich in the natural resources and intensive use of
resources in the country (The Australian, 2018).
From the above discussion, it can be concluded that the saving and securing the energy
resources in every country is equally important for the welfare and development of the
country. The wicked problem discussed in the essay is related to the achievement of the
energy security in the Australian manufacturing. It is significant to secure the energy sector in
Australia to preserve and protect the resources for the future use. Another importance of
securing the security in the energy sector is to make the high exports in other countries. The
essay discusses the various concept related to the security of the energy sector in the country.
The essay discusses the ways and methods to achieve the sustainability in the developing the
economy while maintaining its natural resources. The essay focused on the measuring the use
of the natural resources, the level of consumption and production did in Australia.
