Introduction:
Overseas travelling is very much popular activity in the Australia (Knope & Giele
2013). Many peoples in Australia goes to overseas county for travelling. This number of the
travellers in a year is very much high in Australia. For this case this number is around 10
million which is a quite large number but a serious issue is related regarding this travel
(Ratnam et al. 2013). Most of this travellers travels to the popular destinations in the world
and in this destinations the Australians got affected by various type of diseases (LaRocque et
al. 2013). Many of this diseases becomes a very serious issue for the travellers which includes
hepatitis A and B, typhoid fever, yellow fever, polio, malaria and rabies and this diseases are
the most common in this case (Ghasemian 2016). The approximate number of the infected
travellers per year is near about 6 million which is more than 50% of the total overseas
travellers and this number is increasing day by day. For the growing number of the patients in
the overseas travellers it is becoming a serious issue for the heath department of the Australia.
The Australian travellers are infected by various type of diseases in the overseas country and
for that the main reason determined is that only half of the total travellers visit to the
healthcare professionals and take advice before beginning the trip (Jauch et al. 2013). As the
travelling way of every traveller is unique and the destination is also different they become
more expose to the diseases and got affected by the diseases. The main factors for which the
travellers exposed to the diseases are the duration of the trip, itinerary, water and food
resources, destination and the accommodation type.
To tackle this type of serious issues some actions need to be taken which can prevent
the cases of the overseas disease of the Australians. To effectively tackle this problem the
Australian travellers needs to visit the healthcare professionals before the starting the travel
(Légaré et al. 2014). To make more the travellers self-motivated to visit the healthcare
professionals some recommendations needed to be developed. This recommendations can
help to close the gap between the peoples who are seeking the advice of the healthcare
professionals and the peoples who are not.
To develop the recommendations the management framework and the marketing
framework needed to be demonstrated clearly. So, in this report the marketing framework and
the relevant management framework will be elaborated clearly. Also, the marketing strategies
and the functional sub-strategies will be discussed thoroughly.

2BUSINESS PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Background of the Project:
In Australia almost 10 million travellers per year goes for an overseas trip but a huge
risk factor is related with this case. Almost 6 million of travellers of this total 10 million
travellers faces health related issues which is more than the half travellers travelling to the
overseas countries (Tai et al. 2017). This cannot be considered as normal practice thus it must
be prevented with utmost preference. In this case the Sanofi Pasteur which is a pharmaceutical
company has initiated a project to close the gap between the travellers who are interested in
taking the health advice before going to the trip and the others are not interested at all
(Ferguson et al. 2016). This diseases can create huge problem in the Australian society and
for that it must be mitigated properly. The main aim of the project is to gather more
information about the diseases which the Australians commonly faces in the overseas country.
With the information of the diseases also the information about the medicines will be gathered
which are required for tackling the diseases. Also while the project is planned the traveller
must visit to the doctor or the healthcare professionals before visiting the overseas country.
For this reason some recommendation needed to be developed to tackle this issues.
Literature Review:
Importance of the Travel Advice: According to the Angelin, Evengård and
Palmgren the travel heath advice is a very much important part for the travellers who
are seeking an overseas trip. The main of the authors is to determine whether this
advice having any impact or not which are given by the healthcare professionals on
the determined diseases and injury which can be experienced at the time of the
overseas travelling. In this case a survey has been used which was having total
number of 1277 individuals. In this total sample size 83% of the peoples responded to
the post-travel questionnaires. It is determined that total 95% of the peoples think the
advice before the staring the overseas trip is very much helpful to fight against the
diseases. Thus the travel advice must be followed by every individuals as it can help
to reduce the chances of occurring the diseases.
Travel Health Guidelines: According to the Costa et al. natural disasters and the
global catastrophe are the big issue in the humanitarian relief work. The main
intention of the authors is to review the information on the pre-deployment
interventions and the recommendations. As an example the vaccinations can be
considered. The authors identified total number of 163 papers from which 35 papers
are selected and reviewed by the authors. From the review of the selected papers the

author has stated that by using the travel health advice both the physical and the
mental health can be improved thus it can mitigate the issues of the diseases from the
overseas country. Also, the risk and the hazards are identified by the authors which
includes various type of diseases. As per the conclusion of the authors it is stated that
this travel health guidelines is very much important to solve the issue of the travel
related health issues. As per the author travel specific first aid kits can be
recommended.
Health consultation before the travel: According to the McIntosh the health
consultation is extremely important before commencing an overseas journey. As per
the author the risks of the health related issues must be assessed properly which can
create awareness among the travellers. The pre-travel advice can ensure that the
travellers return to the home with good health condition. In most of the cases this the
health consultation is not done before starting the trip. In this case the author has
given some of the reason for which the travellers are not interested in the pre-travel
health consultation. This reason includes the issues related with the time and money.
This pre-travel health consultation can be time consuming as the travellers may need
to fix the appointment before visiting to a healthcare consultant. This can affect the
travel schedule the travellers thus the traveller omits the consultation part. Also, this
type of consultation can be very much expensive for many of the travellers so they
simply avoid this. Thus the risk of the occurrence of the diseases remain intact. As per
the author another main reason behind the pre-travel health consultation to aware the
travellers about the health related risks.
Health Risk: According to the Balaban et al. there are limited amount of information
about the health related risks on the overseas travelling. In this case the author has
done a pre-travel health survey and a post-travel health survey to determine the
knowledge, practices, attitudes and the illness among the overseas travellers. To
conduct the research the authors has done anonymous surveys. In this survey total
number of 122 individuals participated. Form the survey it is assessed that 80% of the
peoples followed at least one planned health risk activity and they got benefited from
the planned heath risk.
Research Methodology:
Research methodology is an essential part which is required for effectively collect
project related information and the data for developing the recommendations (Mackey & Gass

2015). In this case the travellers of the overseas countries from the Australia surveyed. To
develop an effective recommendation first various type of the diseases which is generally
faced by the Australian travellers needed to be assessed (World Health Organization 2016).
Also, the management framework and the management framework which has been used to
develop the recommendation needed to be evaluated in an effective way. Various type of tools
is used in this case to develop the recommendation. With various type of tools to conduct the
surveys qualitative data collection method is used because the experience of the overseas
travellers and the information about the diseases need to be deduced (Fowler Jr 2013). This
method of the approach will help the researcher focusing on the present theories related with
this project. With the survey technique for the further research strategy interview is also taken
for various travellers.
In this case both type of secondary and the primary type of the data is collected (Hair
Jr & Lukas 2014). Also, non-probability sampling technique and probability sampling
technique has been under the focus in this case. To develop the recommendation the
researcher has taken total size of the 154 travellers and survey has been taken of them. Also,
there are other 23 travellers who were interviewed actively. Questions has been made on the
diseases faced by the travellers faced on the overseas country. The following chart will
describe the survey method more efficiently.

The philosophy of the research paper is set of beliefs. In this case there are total three
research philosophies which are the realism, positivism and the interpretivism. Positivism can
help the researcher to identify the problems related with the project where the interpretivism
helps to tackle the business management and activities (Hart 2017). In this case both of the
interpretivism and the positivism has been implemented. The implementation of the
positivism helped the researcher to analyse the problems of the project. Thus the researcher is
able to investigate the topic critically and logically. As, human perception is needed for
conducting the surveys interpretivism is used in this case.
Design of the Research:
For every basic research there are three designs for the research purpose. The three
designs are the descriptive, explanatory and the exploratory design of research. In the case of
the descriptive design the researcher of the project goes through various approach of the
project in a descriptive type of manner (Vaismoradi, Turunen & Bondas 2013). In this case
the researcher has chosen the descriptive mode research design. By using this research design
the researcher has gained idea of various type of theories for developing the
recommendations. Also, critical evaluation advantage has been gained by the researcher by
using the descriptive mode.
Data Collection Method:
Primary data are collected by the researcher using the surveys and the interviews
(SYLVIA 2018). This type of primary data is very much authentic and genuine as it is
directly collected from the overseas travellers. Another type of the data collection method is
the secondary data collection. This type of data is not collected from any type of primary
source. Rather than it is collected from some secondary source which maybe in some printed
format. Also, it can be in form of previously done survey. In such cases the data is already

present and the researcher does not need to actively gather the data. In this case the researcher
has used both type of data collection method but preference is given to the primary type of
data collection method. This is because the researcher has taken surveys and interviews on the
travellers.
Analysis:
This part of the project report will critically analyse the issues identified in the
research proposal which were the research questionnaires. The main research questionnaires
of the project will be discussed in the following sections. For answering the research
questions the data gathered form the surveys will be used in this case. So, both of the primary
and the secondary types of data will be used in this case. Based on the analysis of the research
question the recommendation plan will be formed.
Analysis of the Questions:
1. What are the main causes for which the Australian travellers are being infected by
various type of overseas diseases?
From the data analysis it has been found that the main reason behind the Australian
travellers are getting sick is the health consultant issue (Kirmayer, Guzder & Rousseau eds.
2013). Majority of the travellers does not consult with the healthcare experts before staring
the trip. In such cases the travellers faces various type of issues whenever they goes to the
overseas countries because of the lack of the knowledge about the country. From the survey it
is assessed that most of the travellers not aware about the weather of the visiting country and
because of that they failed to adjust with the weather and thus various types of common
diseases occurs (Franchini & Mannucci 2015). The Hepatitis A and the Hepatitis B both
occurs due to the virus infecting the liver of the humans (Trépo, Chan & Lok 2014). The
travellers got affected by this type of serious diseases because of the body fluid transmission
issue in the overseas country. From the secondary data about the Hepatitis virus it is
determined that the main reason behind the Australians travellers got affected by this type of
diseases because of the contacting with the Hepatitis affected persons. The travellers does not
have the knowledge in which area the Hepatitis virus is very much active of the visiting
country. The travellers got affected by the Hepatitis virus and with various type of diseases
when travel to those areas.
2. Why it is very much essential to determine the reasons of the diseases and the
problems related to healthcare which are faced by the travellers?
Document Page
7BUSINESS PROJECT MANAGEMENT
From the interviews which has been conducted it is determined that the travellers of
the Australia is not actually aware about the diseases which they can face due to the travelling
to the overseas country (Hantao et al. 2013). So, it becomes very much important to determine
the reasons behind various type of the diseases and the source of disease. Thus the initial
preventing techniques can be applied so that the travellers remains safe from the diseases. By
determining the reasons behind the diseases which are faced by the Australians during
travelling of the overseas country the travellers can learn more about the disease. In this case
the traveller may also can help the peoples of that particular affected area by the disease. With
the determination of the disease it is also important to determine the problems due to the
diseases which the Australians are facing (Rowlandson et al. 2015). Determining the
problems can help the travellers to detect a disease by its symptoms. From the survey it is
assessed that the many of the overseas travellers failed to detect the disease as the problems
due to the diseases is not known to them. This is because of that they does not consult with
the doctor before starting the trip or the problems due to the diseases is simply unknown to
them (Alkureishi et al. 2016). Thus it is very much important to determine the reasons of the
diseases.
3. What are the major diseases which is faced by the travellers?
According to the survey conducted, normal fever is the most common disease faced by
the Australian travellers. Following the normal fever there are also various type of other
uncommon diseases is also faced by the Australian travellers (Bindra et al. 2014). This
uncommon diseases includes the Influenza, Enteric fever, Hepatitis A and B, yellow fever,
measles, rubella, diphtheria, mumps and the pertussis. According to a survey which is done by
an another organization it is stated that between the years of the 2007 to 2011 there were total
42,173 travellers returned from the overseas trip and among the 42,173 travellers 28 deaths is
commenced due to travelling to the overseas country. In this death cases 21% death
commenced due to the malaria and the rest of the death commenced due to the influenza,
dengue and pneumonia.
4. What recommendations can be given to minimize the health related issues of the
travellers?
Some of the basic recommendation can be given to minimize the issues related with
the health of the Australian travellers (Ylitalo, Lee & Mehta 2013). The main
recommendation given in this case is the consultation with the doctors. From the conducted

survey it is determined that more than half of the persons does not take any type of
recommendations from the healthcare experts. In the case of the pre-travel doctor consultation
it is recommended to follow the general preventive health advices which can be very much
effective in some particular case. Also it is recommended to take advice from the doctors on
the topic of heath management. If in the overseas country the travellers are able to manage the
health by themselves then it will be great advantage for them. This is because the chances of
occurring the diseases will be less as the travellers will be more conscious about the health.
Another basic recommendation which can be given is the taking the vaccinations. In this case
of the travel related health issues vaccinations can be taken for a particular type of disease.
The type of the vaccination will be depend on the travelling area. This means the vaccinations
will be taken according to the priority of the diseases in that particular region where the
traveller is visiting.
5. What measures must be taken by the Sanofi Pasteur Australia to minimize the heath
related problems of the travellers?
To solve any type of problem it is very much important to analyse the problem first.
To determine the problem first the Sanofi Pasteur pharmaceutical has conducted a survey on
the health condition of the overseas travellers (Pasteur 2014). According to the survey it has
been found that 31% of the total travellers are at the risk in the selected destination and they
are more likely going to face the health related issue. With that the Sanofi Pasteur has also
determined that the 58% of the travellers needs medical assistance when they are in overseas
travel and 15% of them needs medical treatment when the travellers return back to the
Australia. Thus based on the survey the Sanofi Pasteur needs to develop a health management
plan which can effectively manage various type of patients affected by various types of
diseases. Also, a real time information sharing system can be developed by the Sanofi Pasteur
which can provide real time updates about a disease provided by the WHO and the CDC.
Thus the travellers will get every update about the disease and can avoid the occurrence of the
diseases.
Developed Recommendation for the Australian travellers:
During the research stage various types of data collection method is used which
includes the surveys and the interviews of the overseas travellers. Form the assessment of
those surveys and interviews some recommendation plan is developed. To develop the

recommendation new marketing framework and the management framework has been
applied. In the following section the recommendation plans will be elaborated.
In this cases of the overseas traveling the recommendations are divided into three
parts. First recommendations are applicable before the traveller leave for the trip, the second
recommendations are applicable when the traveller is on the trip and the last recommendation
are about when the travellers returns from the overseas trip.
Before leaving for the trip:
Research on the destination: Before leaving for the trip it is recommended to research about
the destination more. By conducting a research the researcher will be able to gather more
information about the destination. With that the traveller also can research about the planned
activities. Thus the traveller will get an idea whether it will be right or not to execute those
plans on that particular area. The main research about the destination will be conducted on the
food and the water quality. It need to be determined whether the food and the water is good
enough for the traveller or not. With the assessment of the food and the water quality it also
need to be assessed that the area is safe enough from the wildlife creatures or not (Sun ed.
2016). The wild animals can create a serious wounds which can form a disease in the future.
Also, it need to be determined that the mosquitos of the destination carries serious diseases or
not which includes the malaria, yellow fever and dengue.
Consulting with the doctor: The most important recommendation before leaving to a trip is
consulting with a doctor. The doctor can advise the travellers to avoid various type of diseases
of the overseas countries. The doctor can provide information to the travellers about a specific
type disease which is common for the destination where the traveller is visiting. With the
advice the doctors also can immunisation by providing some boosters or vaccination. Many of
the serious diseases can be prevented by this technique which includes Hepatitis A and B,
Rabies, Typhoid, Tuberculosis, Influenza and Measles but for this the travellers need to
actively visit to the doctors before starting the trip.
While the trip is going on:
Protection from the insects: It is recommended to the travellers to protect themselves from
the insects of the overseas countries (Sridhar et al. 2013). The insects can be harmful in many
cases as they can spreads various type of diseases. The most common example of a harmful
insect is the mosquito. The mosquito spreads serious diseases like dengue and malaria. To
