Reflection
The present report is based on reflection on research project done on the topic “Study on
impact of policies and frameworks for caretaking practices in UK for children suffering from
autism”. Here Gibbs reflective cycle will be followed to present a reflective account of the
research undertaken taken on the research problem as stated above. Gibbs has given six
stages of reflection which helps in stating one’s experience of learning in a sensible manner.
The six stages of reflection of the research carry out on the aforesaid research problem are as
follows:
Description: I have undertaken research on the topic as “ policies and framework for
caretaking practices and its impact on children suffering from autism in UK”. This research
was a secondary research where I have explored many secondary sources to highlight this
issue and drawing conclusion on what else strategies should be recommended for further
improvement in the present scenario of children suffering from autism. The very purpose of
mine in researching over this issue is to answer how symptoms of this disorder can be
prevented and how already affected can be saved from any severe consequences.
Feelings: My feeling before undertaking research on the issue of autism is quite pleasing,
prideful and happy as I believed that I am doing something which is of great worth for those
who are suffering from autism and for those who can be saved from such disorder. While
conducting research I came across many facts associated with the research problem which
makes me feel quite guilty and frustrated with regards to children’s stories associated with
their disorder. After accomplishing research, I feel satisfied and happy that I have
successfully established unique understanding of mine in the area related to research
problem.
Evaluation: The positive aspect of this research is that there are many sources available
which has been utilised for drawing conclusion for the research problem. And also, I have
successfully able to do so in order to identify possible strategies to be incorporated within
framework of caretaking children affected with autism. What happen to be quite depressive in
the research as I feel nervous in approaching participants (affected individuals) as I believed
that this may lead to emotional distress among participants.
Analysis: I analysed after conducting this research on the issue of autism among young and
elder children that such disorder can be prevented and cured through parental contribution in

building confidence and self- esteem among children with autism. I analyse that my
experiences and emotions best integrates with my choice of research topic.
Conclusions: The research is basically useful for parents and families with individuals
with the autism. I have collected good deal of experience by undertaking this research. I came
across both of my strengths and weakness that must be overcome for any further study in the
related or different perspective. I realised that I am quite weak in problem solving and
analytical skills, on which I must work upon in order to accomplish my analytical work of
further study in a desirable manner. I also notice that I am good in planning and critical
thinking which supported me in accomplishing research in an effective and desired manner.
Actions: Building good deal of analytical skills and problem-solving skills is the main area
of my concern to undertake future research with great results. For this I will try to attend as
many sessions as possible that are available online for improving these skills. Also, I will
incorporate case study solving habits in my regular tasks.
