1LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT PLAN
Self-introduction:
The aim of this paper is to discuss the learning and development plan to get opportunities
in an automobile manufacturing industry renowned in the global business. In order to create a
learning and development plan, it is mandatory that I detail all the information I have gathered
from the life events as well as the resources from academic studies. I am Syed Waseem Ali from
India now visited Australia from further studies. I have completed my schooling from Nalanda
and intermediate in Narayana, both situated in India. I do not possess any work experience
therefore my position in the employment market is that of a fresher. I have done the bachelor in
civil engineering science and technology and now focus gain more knowledge about the business
scenarios of the world. I am therefore finding to get scope in the automobile manufacturing
company so that I can utilize the skills and capabilities I have developed throughout these past
years as an engineer and lead a technical team in the company.
Megatrends and challenges:
In order to find out the aspects in which I need to work on, it is essential to find out the
mega trends in the industry and the challenges of the automobile industry bot locally as well as
globally. The situation of the automobile industry of the country like Australia as somewhat
similar to that of world. This is due to the fact that more or less all the global brands have entered
the Australian market and sharing their insights with the local car brands to make the services
and products more effective (Lindqvist and Malm Helgesson 2016). This is the reason why the
challenges that the global automobile brands are facing in the markets have created impact upon
the local car manufacturing brads. These issues are related with the globalization, suitability
issues, urbanization, technological development and attractive talents. Due to globalization, the
market of the car manufacturing has started to face more competition as the number of new

brands are entering the same market (Hashmi and Biesebroeck 2016). This is related to the
lowering of the market price leading reduction of the profitability. However, the possible
solution of this problem actually leading towards to increase of effeminacy of the firms.
In addition to this problems of globalization, the problem of overcapacity common to the
automobile companies of the world is posing challenges. In this regard the employment of the
resources to build the products then find that the companies do not need the procedure. Hence
many of the resources are being wasted (Hoffman 2019). Thirdly, the issues of attracting talents
to engage the technological development in the product differentiation. This relates to the huge
investment in the firms around the globe in one hand that is more than $100 million globally and
the intended improvements by exploiting technological innovation at their best (Crippa et al.
2016).
Goals:
In this scenario of high competition in the automobile industry, entering in the human
workforce is highly difficulty this is due to the fact the expectation of the companies operating in
this industry are high due to the constant changes in the innovation processes (Bortolini et al.
2017). As I have aimed to get placed in the automobile company of Australia within next three
years, I need to understand the expectation of the companies from the employees like me. First of
all, it is the creativity actor that differentiates the employees form the rest of the team managers.
This relates to the creativity of the firm. It is expected that the company which will employ me,
will be thinking of the new systems to be incorporated (Dauth, Findeisen and Suedekum 2017).
Therefore new ways of thinking and finding solution of the problems will be focused by the HR.

subject. This means I need the mechanical skills to understand the exact need of the company

will always remain fixed in growing problem solving skills. The engineers need the skills to find

have the goals to develop communication skills for accomplishing my job effectively. I possess
understanding of the different facets of communication but I need to develop it in a more

As the companies in the current business scenario are trying to expand in the overseas
market, the complexities of business have grown a lot. A huge number of employees from
different culture and markets are entering the workplace making the organizations to be highly

companies tend to enhance cross-cultural management of the employees based on ethical
decisions making (Rose 2018). As I do not have any working experience therefore I need to
develop some idea about the workplace ethics relevant in this competitive business scenario. In
this regard, I will be following the work ethics related to collaboration, dedication. Respect,
employee code of conduct of the company, integrity and accountability.
Dedication: all the companies while recruiting the employees have the expectation that
they will be getting perfect consequences of this action. This means that the employees
will be effectively contributing their skills to the growth of the company (Osborne,
Watson and Eaton 2018). This relates to the dedication of the employees and loyalty
towards the company’s rules and regulations. The leaking of data by the employees have
become frequent in any firm that relates to the ethical conduct.
Accountability: the employees of all the companies are expected to be accounted to the
responsibilities given to them. The accountability leads to grow the habit of abiding by
the rules of the company. It is the responsibility of not taking advantage of the time
allocated for breaks (Bales 2016). It is related to carrying out all the assigned
responsibilities meeting all the deadlines and accepting duties win anything has gone
wrong accountability relates to willingly working towards a solution of the problems
together.
Collaboration: It is needed in every business be it a service or manufacturing company.
This is due to the fact that most of the companies believe that through collaboration,
success follows (Winter 2016). Hence this is important for the employees to become a

tasks to the new hires and following the instructions of the team leads.
Respect: this is one of the most important work ethics because it deals with behavior of
the workforce towards one another. Respecting the culture, experience and age are the
main pillars of collaboration and ethical actions. This promotes positive behavior among
the employees through communication as well as interpersonal relations (Egert, Fukkink
and Eckhardt 2018). Thus respect connects all the stakeholders like external partners and
clients which earns trust. The employees there were developed give ability to respect one
another and show the appropriate behavior in every facets of their job.
Code of conduct: The core values of the companies are detailed through employee code
of conduct that requires embedded in the management practice. The employee code of
conduct form foundational elements in recruitment criteria during the interview process
and in orientation sessions (Pérez-Foguet and Lazzarini 2019). Starting from the
recruitment to operation, all the employees ascribe with the code of conduct of the
company and acknowledge they are understanding to develop a conflict free positive
work culture.
Competency assessment:
Competencies are the capabilities which the companies try to find in an individual before
recruitment. There are some desirable elements set for the newly recruited employees that bridge
the gap between the past experiences and process after recruitment. There are several elements
which are recognized by the individuals themselves and some of the competencies are not
understood by themselves but seen by the others around them (Nguyen, Bevis and Lamborn

From the consciousness matrix it has been seen that there are some competencies that I
know I possess and some I do not. The competencies I possess include in depth knowledge of the
subject of engineering which is a must have if I want to get placed in a renowned global car
manufacturing company in the near future. Organizational skills relates to my ability to manage
people in order to achieve an important goal. As I am a fresher in terms of job experience,
therefore I do not possess any in hand experience to manage employees but I do have the
capability to manage the peers in arranging projects. Decision making is one of the most
important factors that have guided me in several ways in my life. My decision to choose the
subjects for the studies and completing my engineering course were solely my decision. Even the
thought of coming to Australia and get chance in the university for the study was also my own
decision from my personal development. In the case of group presentation, I have done a good
amount of it during my school days back in India. However, in spite of several group
presentations I have not been able to solve the issues of nervousness of the public speaking that
comes under the conscious incompetence. I lack incompetency in working in teams that was
found while working in projects assignment with my peers. I also lack the leadership skills as I
have failed many a times to inspire people. I am but that creative therefore cannot think
innovatively for finding solution to the problems. As I am from India I also have language issue
that creates barrier in the public speaking and communication.
