Automobiles in Cinema
The use of automobiles and muscular cars have been one of the most prevalent
characteristic traits which are associated with the strength of the heterosexual male and his
defining feature. In this aspect, there are a number of subjects that are added to reflect the motive
of the director on the screen which forms the image among the audience. The most crucial thing
which completes the meaning of the usage of cars is the motorways and roads. They are denoted
with the power to define the implication of the scene where a running and crowded highway
gives the idea of the generality where the character is lost and is not allowed to focus on any
single vehicle. On the other hand, the isolation of characters confined and alone inside a car
shows the inner turmoil where the outside world does not have any connection any longer
(Gurung, 2019). This space is referred to as a ‘non-place’ which is the place of transition where
the presence of human being stays anonymous.
However, the use of cars in Hollywood movies are due to their ideology embedded in the
defining feature of the ‘male persona’ for example the “The Bond” franchise where Bond and his
super enigmatic cars are prone to survive all the extremities when they are together in a scene.
The intertwining of men and muscular car, where Bond becomes the most potent weapon of the
Queen of England when he is equipped with the car where the concept of non-place is contrasted
as every time the love interest of Bond ends up in a life and death situation, it is the
amalgamation of the car and the character that saves the day. The use of muscular cars has been
regularly used as the symbol of masculinity in “Bullitt”, “John Wick”, “the Bourne” Franchise,
“Collateral”, “True Detective”, etc. These movies associate the speed of the car with the strength
of the male heroes, the faster the vehicle owned by the character the more iconic the hero
(Gurung, 2019).

EDL- The lost souls
The video shows the chilling reality of the fact that Islamophobia is a real thing and that
people who are suffering from it are not only sick but are a threat to the stability of society. It is
substantiated by the last comment of the video where he very quickly and smoothly says that
what they need right now for people to wake and realize the threat that the Muslim community
pose to them is another terrorist attack. The complexity of the dialogue reveals the hatred which
they spew for the colored and the Muslims. EDL (English Defence League) was the
Islamophobic, far-right organization formed by the coalition of football hooligan firms and
claimed to the counter-jihadists (Gurung, 2019). These people as evident from the video itself are
not self-aware of the problems in their psychology as they do not see their action as racism. The
reaction from the girl in the video points out to the most crucial element that works behind these
ideas, it is one of the most pivotal factors that education is missing. They need to be educated
and made aware of the basic definition of the terms of racism. The Muslim guy in the video finds
it funny that people living in one of the most multicultural cities in the world have the
psychology that Muslims are invading their country and the fact that they are just putting up a
show of pretence when they are living in peace in the society.
The fact that the video was based on London, where people from all race and culture
move in to make a better life and the people who are born their gets to live on benefits while they
have to work hard just to pay the bills (Gurung, 2019). The video in some also shows the general
normalcy that is present in the people when it comes to criminality present in the society as
evident from the comment of that wherever one goes in the world that the government is going to
bring instability in the nation.
