COVID 19 is a major pandemic that occurred in 2019. This is caused by severe acute respiratory
syndrome coronavirus. The outbreak was first identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019
(Shi and et. al., 2020). Ryanair is the Irish-based company founded in 1984 which has
headquartered in Dublin. It is an aviation industry and has largest holdings of your life in United
Kingdom. This company is facing various losses as a number of flights has been cancelled and
the number of travellers has reduced significantly (Peysakhovich and et. al., 2020). The COVID-
19 have had a significant effect on aviation industry which have resulted in a number of travel
restrictions and created a slump of demand within the travelers ("Impact of COVID 19 on the
Aviation Industry",2019). There have been a reduction in number of passengers and plane flying
empty between airports due to which cancellation of a number of flights have taken place.
The United States government have made it mandatory for airlines to refund all the fare of
the flight which are cancelled. But many flight companies have taken initiative of providing
travel credits to the passengers rather than refunding the amount of their travel (Mhalla, 2020).
Travel vouchers are distributed among passenger whose travel plans are cancelled due to
COVID-19. This will help in maintaining the balance within company properly. By using this
type of voucher scheme, company do not have to provide the money to customer but they have
tied their money in the form of voucher which the customers have to use in future.
Ryanair have declared that they can expect to cancel their flights throughout the month of
May and June and they are taking various measures to inform all the passengers who will be
impacted by this cancellation (“FLIGHT AND PASSENGER RESTRICTIONS TO SPECIFIC
COUNTRIES”. 2020). This company has worked upon managing the customers in the time of
this pandemic. They are providing vouchers that can be used in future. Ryanair effectively
enhanced their overnight cleaning of every aircraft and the interior of the aircraft have been
treated well with the disinfectant of a hospital level. The fleet of company is now fitted with an
extremely effective high-efficiency particulate arrestors filters which helps in removing all the
particles of air down to the microscopic size bacteria’s as well as virus clusters (Melissen and
Jochems, 2020). The aviation organisations have put in both flights as well as passenger
restrictions for the company and company is taking all the measures to make sure that all the

passengers are safe. There are a number of countries like Italy, India, UK, etc. on lockdown and
due to which a number of airports are also shut down (Ramsey, 2020). Company make sure that
all the passengers travelling with them have health certificates and self-certification along with
all the required documents if they need to travel with the company. Ryanair is experiencing a
number of request from passengers due to this crisis of COVID-19 (PV, Varma and Aparna,
2020). There are a number of public health restrictions by government on non-essential travel for
work which also means that company has less staff available during this busy time. Company
had suggested that the best way to travel is moving the travel to a later date and accepting the
vouchers of other companies which are automated. Ryanair is following all the guidelines which
are provided by WHO and EASA to make sure that the health and well-being of the employees
as well as customers are given priority (Sohrabi and et. al., 2020).
