Virtualization
Virtualization in cloud endorses the partition of single server into multiple servers.
Virtualization in the cloud server can be defined as the masking of the server resources. Virtual
server runs in its own operating system and applications. The virtualization in the cloud
computing provides a way for saving the cost and increase the utilization of the single server.
There are different types of virtualizations like para-virtualization, full virtualization. The
selection of the type of virtualization is dependent on the requirements.
There are different cloud servers provides the virtualization facility. Two of the main
stream cloud service provider offers virtualization are- Amazon cloud and IBM cloud.
Virtualization in AWS
There are two types of virtualization provided by Amazon AWS. These are- Pare virtual
and hardware virtual machine. Each of the virtualization technique has its own advantage and
disadvantage. AWS uses bare metal or Xen hypervisor for the virtualization. The working of the
virtual machine is carried out on the top of the hypervisor (Dalton et al. 2018). The scheduling
and partitioning of the memory is done by the hypervisor but it cannot control networking and
extreme storage and other input output functions.
Hardware virtual machines are fully virtualized. In this case, the virtual machines running
on the top of the hypervisor is independent of the other applications or the client running on the
same system. The lighter form of virtualization is called Para virtualization. In this environment,
some of the modifications are needed in the guest system before it starts working (Ibrahim,
Hamlyn-Harris and Grundy, 2016). On the other hand, in the full virtualization, there is no need
for the modifications in the guest system. Full virtualization provided by Amazon can be

supported in the Linux system and windows system. However, it has been seen that the
performance given by para-virtualization is better than the full virtualization.
Virtualization through IBM Bluemix
In case of IBM secure virtualization, there are certain components like VMware cloud
foundation, HyTrust security software, Intel TXT enable hardware are present. HYtrust software
ensures security and the automation in the virtualization of the cloud powered by IBM. In order
to maintain the security DataControl, CloudControl, BoundaryControl is used (Liu et al. 2017).
The state where the host is launched is measured by Intel TXT. It identifies the physical address
of the host and resists the possible attacks. IBM uses bare metal server along with VMware
Cloud Foundation license. There are some benefits of using the virtualization in the cloud server
provided by IBM. IBM cloud virtualization ensures that the workloads are running on the trusted
servers (Zhang et al. 2017). Thus the data sovereignty can be achieved. Apart from that through
the automation and continuous monitoring process data and information can become auditable.
This also reduces the operational risks involved with the data virtualization. The organizations
which need the cloud virtualization along with the security and automation can adopt the IBM
cloud virtualization. It enhances the productivity of then organization through the through
meeting the requirements and managing the quality through the constant monitoring process.
