MAIN BODY
Short introduction
The self- efficacy is being referred to as the belief of oneself in their own capacity to
execute the work with aim of attaining the performance objectives. For the person to be
successful it is very crucial that they have the self- efficacy within them (Newman and et.al.,
2019). With respect to the entrepreneur it is very important that they have self- efficacy within
them. The entrepreneurial self- efficacy (ESE) is being defined as the belief of individual within
their own capability in performing the task in order to attain the objectives in better and effective
manner.
As per the view of Entrepreneurial self-efficacy: A systematic review of the literature on
its theoretical foundations, measurement, antecedents, and outcomes, and an agenda for future
research, (2022) there are different types of the antecedents relating to the concept of ESE.
These antecedents are differentiation on basis of individual level and firm and macro level.
These antecedents outline the older view of ESE and what people thought in past years relating
to this concept. For developing better understanding relating to the concept of anything it is
necessary to understand the antecedent that is past information well. Thus, on the individual level
that different antecedent present relating to ESE are work experience, education and training,
presence of role of model and mentors and individual differences. Further on the firm and micro
level that various antecedents being present involves firm characteristics, cultural and
institutional environment and others.
In the opinion of To and et.al., (2020) all these antecedent affect the self efficacy of the
entrepreneurs to a great extent. The reason pertaining to the fact is that in case these elements
will not be included within entrepreneurial spirit then this will be affecting the working
efficiency of entrepreneur. When the work experience and cultural environment will be good
then entrepreneur will be having capability of performing the work in better and effective
manner.
Rationale for selecting qualitative interview
The reason for the selection of the qualitative study is that this will assist in effective
development of the knowledge relating to the research topic that is development of
entrepreneurial self efficacy. This is necessary for the person to have thorough knowledge

relating to the self efficacy as it is necessary for the effective working of the entrepreneurs. In the
present era the competition is very high and in case the self efficacy will not be present within
the person then they cannot secure good position in corporate culture. Hence, the present study is
going to develop the knowledge relating to antecedent of ESE that is entrepreneurial self
efficacy.
Description of analysis
In the present case analysing the entrepreneurial self efficacy, the use of qualitative data
analysis is being conducted. This is being undertaken by the researcher as this will provide with
an opportunity relating to the development of knowledge with respect to ESE and its antecedent.
For the gathering of the data, the first interview was conducted and thereafter analysis of the
gathered data was conducted. The analysis was undertaken with help of the thematic analysis and
this was assistive in developing clear view of various antecedent and whether these antecedent
are assistive in improving ESE or not (Naushad and Malik, 2018). In the thematic analysis, the
questions of interview were converted within the themes. After this conversion the response of
the potential entrepreneur was analysed. Along with this analysis, it was also supported by the
secondary sources as well. The thematic analysis was used in order to complete the study in
more effective and simple manner. the thematic analysis is a tool which assist in better and
effective analysis of the data and prove the objective correctly.
Finding of the analysis
Theme 1: Knowledge of antecedent of ESE
When asked for the knowledge relating to concept of ESE and its antecedent it was
viewed that potential entrepreneur is having proper and in- depth knowledge relating to the
concept (Yang, Li and Wang, 2020). For improving the ESE it is necessary that the person know
what the actual requirement for the ESE is. Hence, when I will be having knowledge that what
ESE are essential for improving the self efficacy then it will be better in improving the working.
Theme 2: Types of antecedent of ESE
Further with the evaluation of the interview transcript it was evaluated that there are two
different types of antecedent of ESE. This includes individual level and firm and micro level.
Both these ESE are essential for the effective working of the entrepreneur in better and effective
manner. These antecedents assist entrepreneur in improving the working efficiency of the

business in better and effective manner. This improves the working capability of them and
improves their capability to work in better and effective manner.
Theme 3: Better from both
When asked for the better antecedent, then the entrepreneur stated that both these
antecedent are important for the effective working of the business and development of self
efficacy within the entrepreneur. Potential entrepreneur also stated that when there will be proper
knowledge relating to the antecedent then this will improve the efficiency of the entrepreneur.
Theme 4: Importance of ESE
Further, potential entrepreneur also stated that the use and knowledge of antecedent of
ESE is very important and this is because of the reason that this provides a base to the
entrepreneur that how they have to work in better manner.
Reflection
This whole process of interview was a good learning experience and also improved the
knowledge relating to the concept of antecedent of ESE. The major difficulty encountered while
conducting the interview was that it was difficult to select the sample for the study this was the
problem. Further another difficulty encountered while conducting the study was that the time
was very less. But then also the researcher completed the study in better and effective manner.
Further, the limitation of conducting the interview was that there can be some of the
miscommunication or misunderstanding relating to the views of interviewee (T. Nuseir, Basheer
and Aljumah, 2020). This is particularly because of the reason that it is not necessary that
whether the interviewer understands the same meaning which the interviewee is stating. In
addition to this, the major learning from this whole study was that the coordination and time
management skill are very important in order to improve the working in better and effective
manner.
